When you watch this, you can even see how fast your demeanour changes with which ones you feel confident in and the ones you don't! Your back straightens, your shoulders go back. Your entire posture just expands and it's absolutely bangin' to see that shift back and forth. The outfits you hate, you can see you hunch or lean forward and draw your shoulders in, etc. Trust your gut! I'll be honest, I love fashion too, and you diss your fashion choices way too much. You clearly have a REALLY good sense of what's fashionable and not, based on just the comments you made trying on the outfits. They were the same thoughts I had. Again, trust yourself more! Fashion is about confidence, there's no rules. If you THINK you look fantastic, you do. People notice confidence and posture, not patterns and colours! You got this!

I did not like the first "expensive" outfit at all. She looks like she is trying too hard. Those trousers with that shirt? Why? Basic white long sleeve or a white turtleneck with those trousers - yes. Basic black trousers with that top - ok. BUT. Not like this. At least one item should look as if you don't care. This screams "I am trying too hard and I don't know what I am doing". The Valentino coat... Ok. Is it really worth the money? It looks basic for such an expensive item. Better buy some expensive jewellery or an expensive bag... And. This coat would look better on a plus sized woman. The second outfit is fire in theory but the white coat is the only thing that truly makes this outfit look complete. She is not going to wear this coat every time, it's white it's not practical on any level. Once she would try this outfit with a black coat - it won't look as good anymore. The third outfit is GOTH. It looks good on her but only a true rebel would wear this. Number 4 and 5... Also not ideal. I am sorry but I would never wear this west. The dress - also not for everybody (I would rather wear the dress from 5 than the west from 4). Something tells me that a person would either never wear the west or never wear the dress, depending on their character. Can't imagine anyone liking both... I don't know guys... A 200 dollar stylist... Should be better than this.

I just had a stylist transform my wardrobe recently and after that experience, I am not surprised this experiment went the way it did. I was thoroughly assessed regarding body type, colour palette, hue shades and personality. In addition she was very keen on knowing, which "message" I want to give in my outfits. Of course that cost more than 200 pounds - however I have spend less on my new outfits, because she paid attention to capsule wardrobing. She also was precise regarding how my clothes should fit- I love every piece she picked. My feeling watching this video: many styles would have looked much better with a proper fit - but in general the stylists did not have enough information to understand, what the client wants. However, with a budget of 20 and 200, that also is too much to ask.

Tbh, the denim jumpsuit you had on in the beginning looked the most harmonious with your features and coloring. Warmer colors look fantastic on you, plus anything with relaxed and longer lines. Not sure if you've checked into Kitchener's style essences or Kibbe body types, but I'm leaning towards either a natural or dramatic Kibbe ID for you as well as natural, dramatic, and ethereal essences. You need styles that emphasize the vertical, not cut-off pants or shorter skirts. Long and loose pants like the outfit you liked looked fantastic on you, plus the relaxed fit trenchcoat. Loved the olive color top on you, the autumnal colors look fantastic on you, whereas the black seemed a bit draining. That's why the bright pink doesn't work on you, you look better in earthy tones. :)

Plus full body photos from different angles, and measurements of course. Then I got a sort of preview, and I could send feedback about what I liked or disliked and why. And then I got an e-mail with all the items I was going to be sent, and the ability to take out some items and they would swap in something else that I wouldn't be able to approve, so would be a surprise. And it still turned out so bad 😭 I'd told them I like a bit edgy style, I wanted to experiment with more color, and they sent me the most basic stuff, and there was no color in there. 200 stylist. 1. The Valentino coat is stunning. The leather looks butter soft and the drape is exquisite, but I agree that a coat that costs twice one's rent ought to be inspected before shipping. I like the overall look, although I think the top doesn't look very comfortable and is a bit impractical. 6/10. 2. That green sweater is a winner. 100%. The outfit is attractive and has a some sass. It would be better with a belt. 8/10, especially for wearability. (P.S. I think the trousers from the next look might be better with the green sweater.) 3. Initially, I thought the look was well-put together, until you mentioned the brown trousers. Then, all of a sudden, the outfit looked very odd. I'm not such a big fan of the dangling bits. They seem a bit frowsy for most normal situations. The whole look? 5/10. The trousers and the boots? 9/10. 4. Outstanding! The grey looks really well on you, fwiw. I think if you get it tailored, it will be a go to. It looks comfortable, stylish, and fun. I love the way that they top is cut, especially under the arm, because it lies so smoothly! No bra-revealing gaps! 10/10. Initially, I was going to say 9/10, but how much you like it, and how much it expresses your aesthetic bumps it up to 10/10. 5. 100% agree about the color. Also think either the intricate stitching elements OR a patter on the fabric. With both, it does sort of resemble a chair cover chez Granny. Also? With that enormous bow and the way it hangs in the front, it makes it look as though you have a sizable baby bump, which would be fine, if you did have one. 2/10. 20 stylist. 1. The thing I like best about it is the jacket. I think either ripped jeans, or a crop top, but not both. Actually, I don't like the cut of the jeans at all, and I don't like where/how the tears are. The way the top ends on your belly looks a bit like it's an undersized piece that usually connects the front and back in the crotch area. I like the fabric and color, though. 3/10 (because the jacket and top with a better set of trousers could be quite cute. 2. Agree with you 100%. Ditch the jacket. The outfit is banging without it, and looks overdone with it. Without the jacket 10/10. With the jacket 5/10. (And maybe try with the boots from the outfit with the Valentino coat? The boots with this outfit are too shiny. It distracts from the drape of the dress.) And, oh my GOSH that Valentino coat done up may, in fact, be worth two month's rent, if they send you a non-broken version. WIth THAT coat? 20/10. 3. It's an "almost there, but not quite." The fabric and pattern of the skirt are fine. It just drapes strangely. So with you on the boots with no toes. I think the Valentino outfit boots, or the ones from #3 of the other stylist? I give his an E for effort, but a 3/10 for execution. Also? just like that top from #1, the front "tab" is odd-looking and draws my eyes to a pretty random place. Ok. if you insist on including the bag, we are at 1/10. 4. The colors of the top and skirt look very well on you. I like the top quite a lot. The slit on the skirt is an odd length and I think it would be difficult to manage when sitting. So, that needs some tending to. The shoes are stupid. I'm sorry. It's the only word I can find. The bag.... No. So impractical for daytime, anyway, no? Too small. Too fussy. Just the top and skirt? 8/10. And I do think that as a special piece, the top is worth the 250. 5. The neon pink.. Pretty trashy. 0/10.

I am convinced that quite a few of these "stylists" use AI programs to pick outfits for clients because a lot of these I've seen are so left field from what the client said they enjoyed or liked in anyway shape or form. Pinterest does a way better job of helping me find outfits and ideas and giving me suggestions than many of these so called professional stylists.

As a “fashionable person” I have to say that the expensive stylist did a great job of finding cool fashionable looks but it doesn’t matter how good something looks on you if you let the outfit wear you rather than wearing the outfit with your confidence. The two piece vest suit thing that you love isn’t necessarily better than the other pieces but it looks incredible in you because the way you carry yourself on it is much more confident than the other fits. I hate all the cheap stylist looks, they’re basic.
@fighterflight2 жыл бұрын

But most times how confident you are in an outfit depends on how well they fit you. Some of these outfits had a horrible fit on her, like the first pair of pants, and that third top was atrocious. She wasn't feeling the brown pants, but she looked great on them anyways, so it wasn't so much about her liking it.

Okay the stylists' results were insane!! 😭 As a stylist, I'm assuming someone who is getting styled for the first time does not want to go so out of their comfort zone, but rather to just amp up what you already wear and to make recommendations on how to accessorize, style things on the body, etc. Maybe add in a few new key pieces and one statement piece. Just wild... making a Fiverr account now haha!

@RiaTheBold Жыл бұрын
This may have already been mentioned, but I think this is where it's important to have a stylist who does an initial assessment of what you already have in your wardrobe, and who performs the role of personal shopper with you. It's less accessible than using a service fully online, but she/they will get an idea of a) what you look like IRL, b) what you already own that can be incorporated, styled or tailored into new looks, and c) check the fit of new clothes and any client objections in person!! As other commenters have already mentioned, needs like fabric/breathability and value for budget/cost-per-wear and lifestyle appropriateness and probably going to be adressed better by a service that works with you offline. (Not a stylist myself - spent a long time working fashion retail and spend a lot of time on Instagram and adding things to cart that I ultimately can't afford 😂 I understand better now when I have friends who say to me, "How are you so good at accessorising?" It's not always a matter of 'buy what you like and affix to your body' 💁🏻♀️) Interesting to see what choices you ended up with based on your brief and budget! And that ochre floral dress has way too much going on. It needs a block (plain) colour and simpler neckline. Absolute dog's breakfast disaster of elements! My fave was the green top with brown trousers but you can clearly see how much you enjoyed the waistcoast co-ord!

I personally loved the outfit with the green sweet-heart top and brown trouser. I thought it suited her body amazingly well while keeping everything covered. I think simple and flattering pieces are really effective. You don't need a ton to make them shine. Don't want to wear the jacket? Chocolate hankerchief scarf could be cute, a nice earring. @marystine39342 жыл бұрын
As a retired personal jewelry designer, I would never have picked all that black for you. Your coloring is spectacular and rare and should be celebrated with lighter, warmer neutrals and a few "mermaid" colors (coral, aqua, mint green, etc.) You also have a near perfect figure, so dressing you should have been simple. There were only two outfits I felt truly did your beauty justice: the two piece grey vest suit and the # 4 outfit from the $20.00 stylist that had a ruched ivory skirt paired with a deep sea blue top. The black leather coat was a great design, but it doesn't really flatter your coloring or figure. When I was designing for clients I always respected their individuality: many people want simpler styles that they can wear more often, not dramatic pieces that only work occasionally. My best advice to you is to pick a core neutral color other than black, possibly a warm grey, blue grey or conversely a warm brown. Then buy something that you adore that flatters your figure and looks both young and sophisticated and reflects your style. Ideally in a colder climate this would be a 3-season coat or at least a blazer or jacket. Then start adding pieces that go with that item: slacks, a skirt, a nice blouse or sweater. Or you could start with that vest and pant set in grey. You have an hourglass shape, which both stylists did a good job of accenting. However, since you like simpler styles, always be careful to choose those that have a shape, a nipped in waist and fabric that is not to heavy, so it can still drape well. Avoid squared off, boxy, heavy looks at all costs, as well as heavy dark colours. Clothing and jewelry should enhance the person's beauty, not detract.
@ANPC-pi9vu2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but she seems to like black. Mermaid colors are super girly and she doesn't seem like she's into that. I bet slightly more masculine autumn colors would look great on her and tie in the greys and blacks she seems to prefer.

I think the cheaper stylist has “look books” based on themes, and then would just pick/choose based on client’s preferences and then send to the client. She wouldn’t personalise/create every single outfit each time. That’s why it said “influencer aesthetic” at the top, just picks the most suitable aesthetic from her archives. Would have taken some work initially but after that, probably only takes $20 worth of time.

My problem with the dress is that I feel it has too much going on with it, and I absolutely hate the low boots with it. I think it would have been better served with a shoe in a more neutral color. Same with the bag. They seem to be competing with the dress or distracting from it not toning it down any. The dress is kind of overwhelming in style and the print contributes to this, but it’s drawing attention to her face and upper body which I think is good. I think the skirt should have been lengthened and the bottom ruffle shorter so that the hemline was the same or the hemline should have been slightly longer and the bottom ruffle excluded entirely. She is right in that the color is wrong for her. It’s practically the same as her hair.

As a stylist, I would engage in a consultation that takes time to get to know who you are, what your clothing experiences have been, and identify what your style categories is - that is, the language you use to describe monochrome, trendy, tailored, funky etc etc is actually a very personal concept, this is imperative for a stylist to understand their clients language and concept of fashion and style, to really get to the personal style you are looking for - that's why its called 'personal' style

That Valentino coat is EVERYTHING. I definitely prefer the more expensive style looks, some tops/items were meh. Like the shirt trousers or the curtain floral dress. Other than that I feel like some items were 10/10 like the vest suit.

The casual green top (from the second outfit that you tried on) looks really great on you.. I think you should definitely keep that item. The rest of the outfit looks good too -- like something for running errands or going to the library. The only thing that I would change, is the colour of the coat -- really pale colours will cost ypu alot more in cleaning bills and any minor damage (even rain spots) is ALOT more visible, and they don't age as well because such a pale colour will start to discolour over time).

I think this was a very helpful experiment. I am delighted for you, that you found some pieces that resonated with you! $ 200 stylist: Look 1: Valentino Leather trench, 20/10: That coat is a classic. Take care of it, and you will likely have it until you die. Be sure your bulkiest sweater will fit under it. (It is not broken. 1 button is loose. Easy, quick to fix.) Contact them, with photos. Ask for a deeper discount. The top is very good on you. 9.5/10 Boots, if leather, 9/10; if not, then hard no. There is a brand of bag that is an ergonomic design, that I think would work well for you & fit your esthetic. Look 2: That top was SO GOOD on you! Collect that color. 10/10 Trousers 10/10 Tan raincoat/ mackintosh 10/10. It is a great idea to have 1 cloth coat & 1 leather. Learn to care for your leathers. Or make friends with "a bootblack", and wear your leathers while they are being worked on. Look 3: Leather Trench: worth the investment. Combat boots: you seem to connect with them. Buy leather. It lasts longer & is more kind to the planet. Corset under [did I understand that correctly?] Invest in 1 if you like the look. It is fun to mix "sexy" with "suit". The lace top...I would like & use more, with an even hem. Look 4: best of the best Trousers & waistcoat/ vest: 10/10. Is there a matching jacket/ blazer? Do that, too, if it is available. Gray shoulder bag Either coat would work with this. Also, the hip length moto jacket (other stylist) would look great with this, too. Change the shoe to a ballet flat or court shoes with a slender heel to change the vibe completely. Outfit 5: Dress: I loved those colors on you! I would want the dress to be marginally shorter( less than 1") or just an inch longer. ...Wish the dress were in a coral, or nearly any green. Earrings: I liked these. They would also work with other outfits. * $20.00 stylist Look 1 my brain went almost immediately to creative ways to patch the holes in the jeans. 7/10 The white top was basic with a twist. I think it could be a workhorse for you. 9/10 Jacket/ blazer, great basic, 9/10 Trainers shoes, great basic, 10/10 #2 Sunglasses, the shape is good on your face 9/10 Dress, YES! Love the balanced slits! Available in other colors? 9.75/10 Moto leather jacket: great basic 10/10 (I prefer the long trench with this dress.) #3 Open toe boots: hard No. I do not comprehend, except if someone has a toe or toenail polish fetish. Jacket: is this reused from look 2? Skirt : hard NO. that plaid was printed, and the other / inside of the fabric was light. Lesson: look for WOVEN plaid, the back & face of the fabric are very similar. And they wear more evenly. Zebra beaded bag: animal is considered "neutral". I think this is fun, quirky, a conversation starter. I would be tempted to use my fingerprint as inspiration. A way to make a very basic look pop. Companion to a "little black dress".. #4 ☆ top 10/10, one of my favourite pieces on you. ☆ skirt 10/10. Drop dead sexy on you. Leopard print shoes...are currently considered "neutral". I like the shape of them. Busy prints hide stains. That hand bag? No. Too bulky.

I don’t know why you would ever think leather is better for the planet. There’s a reason true sustainable brands never use leather. I encourage you to research it further. Raising of cattle, acidifying the oil, the food and water resources, the toxic curing and dying practices, the waste, it died by break down because of the toxic chemicals even though one would think because it’s “natural” it should. And on and on.

@@alynawatersmusic hi i get what you mean ...i get it. I also agree that there are more sustainable solutions out there. However, to be sustainable, it helps to not have to buy things often, espcially things that are made of plastic and well everything done with polymers is basically done with plastic. Thus, I believe that second hand leather IS sustainable and that if you want to buy a staple and soemthing that will last a lifetime and you want it to be durable, leather is a good option. Other than fruit based leather, which will be perhaps more expensive than real leather, fake leather is plastic ...plastic breaks down and welll honestly I think plastic is worst for the environment . I think "vegan" plastic leather has to stop except if its done by recyling plastic ( but then its as expensive as real leather). But I agree that always buying things and that the "exotic" leather industry is horrible and that leather is not the MOST sustainable idea, I love the fruit leather idea and I hope it will get more affordable. :)

Loved the long black dress with the leather trench. See? You're not that bad at styling. You made a decision to deviate and it looked phenomenal. You could get away with the combat boots with that dress too and it could go daytime. Some of those outfits I liked but they seemed like wear once, then never pull again until you do a clothing declutter. Of course this is coming from someone who lives in leggings, hoodies, shorts and tees, bc I refuse to be uncomfortable. I don't think my opinion is worth salt. Sorry for not scoring all of them, but that was absolutely my favorite of all the outfits. Gutting that the trench arrived broken!

For $200 stylist: I love outfit number 2! 10/10 it's very versatile and I can see all of those pieces working with a lot of different outfits for different events. The green in the top really does look so good on you. Outfit 1: 5/10 it's very confusing and I'm not a fan of long boots with shorts. I think it clashes and the top is confusing. The colors were okay, but the pieces don't work together. Outfit 3: 2/10 is very confused. Individual pieces are neat (except the weird corset hem I don't understand it and it's really impractical) but they are definitely not cohesive and they're fighting each other for attention, which is the opposite of what should be happening when you have a piece like the corset. Outfit 4: 10/10 it looks so good on you and I can ABSOLUTELY see why it's your favorite! The fit is great and the pieces truly work together. Outfit 5: 5/10 as is 8/10 with a different pattern/color. It's great in terms of shape and style, but the color of the dress is horrid. I can see this dress being stunning in a solid color or a less garish pattern. Overall I think it looked nice on you and if it were a different color/pattern it would have been an easy pick to keep. For $20 stylist: Outfit 1 is tied with outfit 2 for my favorite. They are both10/10. They're also easy to dress up or down depending on your shoe choice/event. Outfit 1 is super easy to imagine on a date, at brunch, or in the office (with more professional pants in the same silhouette and a non cropped base layer) Outfit 2 is stunning without the original jacket and with the Valentino one Outfit 3: 0/10 it's just a giant no. Everything is fighting against each other. Nothing is horrid on its own (minus the bag, it's really ugly) but they don't work together at all. Outfit 4: 7/10 with some changes. The skirt is cute and it works well with the color of the top, but it's too light for your complexion. The bag is a big no for me. A simple clutch to match your shoes (not the leopard ones) or the buttons on the skirt would make this much better.

Agree with you except for the $20 stylists 3rd outfit. It's a pretty good outfit overall, just not wntirely right for her. I think with closed toe boots, a different color for the skirt, and maybe a different jacket or none at all, it would have worked better for her.

I love both of the coats chosen by the expensive stylist. You would have the Valentino coat for a lifetime if you waterproofed it .. the generous waistline makes it possible. Perhaps she recommended taupe/khaki/brown toned Bermudas and trousers because an all-black outfit would overpower your colouring. Grey is a bit boring and the browns modernized the look. The ideas were good but substitute a longer skirt and hosiery for a classic look. I was impressed that the expensive stylist was able to accomplish so much with your budget. Valentino may offer you a discount for doing your own repair rather than return the coat. Perhaps the stylist has a contact at Valentino to vouch for your channel and sincerity.

It looks like it was ordered from the designer resale site The Outnet, not Valentino directly so they'd have no liability but contacting The Outnet-a reputable site that is supposed to vet the quality of their items-that an item was delivered damaged might offer some results. Would definitely give it a shot since that coat is killer.

One of the things I realized about getting into fasion is the style you choose has to come naturally! If layers bother u dont layer, if you like how you look in something but the process of putting it on isn't nice you wont wear it, the reverse is also true. With fashion it was easiest for me to start simple and build. There's lots of aesthetics I love the look of but for me it didn't work
@inbuttsmeeting2 жыл бұрын
the "if you like how you look in something but the process of putting it on isn't nice, you won't wear it" is crazy to me because it feels so obvious and yet is not something that I've ever really thought about. I mean I hate putting on basically everything lmao but ease of dressing is a factor I've never really paid particular attention to
@angelatewson82022 жыл бұрын
@@inbuttsmeeting Yes, I had a lot of nice things but had to think about how to wear them. This autumn, I got a lot of co-ordinated trousers and tops/jumpers in neutral shades, that went with things I already had - mostly casual but elegant, and the colours all mixed and matched. I love them as I don't have to think about an entire outfit carefully, but can choose things that go together well very easily. I still wear my other things at times when I have time to think out the whole outfit and want something different, but to be honest, I wore the newer things much more, they will be good for next year too, they go with brighter coloured accessories, and are very comfortable and easy to wear. I've also started shunning things that have difficult fastenings at the back and prefer tops and dresses that can get over my head. The outfits I liked best are the vest and trousers, trench style coat, boots and bag from the expensive stylist. And the wild card dress looked lovely. The rest 'meh'. I would not buy the Valentino coat just because they sent out such an expensive item broken. Shows a lack of respect for the customer. But maybe I just don't do black leather, except for shoes and bags. It looked good on her, but I liked the other coat better. One thing that really helps ease of dressing is to restrict your colour palette so it mixes and matches, with fewer contrasts. I know that's not in fashion at the moment. If you like prints, do the same as if you are clever, you may be able to mix and match them easily.

The expensive stylist did a great job! I’d gladly hire her if I could afford it. First of all, that leather coat is worth every penny! It would make anything look expensive and it’s timeless. Love love love it. So… the leather coat with the top and boots were great. The shorts, not so much. The length and fit were so awkward. I’d return those. Outfit #2 with the leather coat had potential. I’d keep those trousers and style with a different top. The green top and mouse grey trousers (if that’s their colour), although simple, looked professionally styled (or put together by someone who knows a thing or two about fashion and styling) because of their fit. Simple, yet elegant, and looked wonderful on you. The suit-vest combo with the beige (?) trench was fantastic. The dress, on the other hand… please, return it. It’s an eyesore. The cheap stylist outfits were… not great. The items, individually, looked cheap, the fabrics and fit were so off and the combinations were something you’d see on Shein. That person ought to stay away from styling, they have no idea what works with what and on whom.

We definitely have completely different tastes, since my favourite thing was the orange fall coloured dress! But then I tend to dress in very cottagecore/folky styles and earth and jewel tones, so it was closest to what I like. I also really loved the green top and brown pants, which looked very good on you. But I would say that for you the best outfits were the grey vest and pants combo and the black knit dress with sleeves, not just because they really suited you but also because you felt good in them. It really makes a difference how you feel in your clothes, you can always tell when someone feels awkward and uncomfortable in something. Also the black jacket is great but there's no way I'd be game to wear something that expensive, 99% of my wardrobe is second hand lol!

Also, the way that fabric moved on her was ethereal, and makes me understand why expensive fabric makes such a difference on things. 18:29 this coat is so much better than the first one. I think because black might be too harsh of a contrast for your color scheme; you could always do things to bring your contrast level up, but based off of your natural color scheme of your hair, skin, eyes, I would not recommend such a harsh color as black. this coat however, it is everything, it looks amazing on you and makes you glow.
@michp5712 ай бұрын
20:52 if your hair was slicked back in a sleek low bun, I think it would definitely help here. If you end up, taking off your sunglasses, and winged liner and filled in eyebrows would help bring up your contrast level as well as a lipstick, which would add some contrast as well again, I wouldn’t really recommend black on your color palette, perhaps dark but warm brown or a dark but warm turquoise, a dark plum, or pine green, but I would not recommend colors that are so cool toned nor high contrasting. Black can easily wash somebody out and make them look sort of sickly, I have the same problem so I can totally understand that struggle when it comes to leather jackets and trenchcoats as pop black as a popular color, but it really is better to not go with the mainstream and where what compliments you best. Please do not get me wrong, you are absolutely lovely and I just think that you should dress too. What makes you feel good and I think often times that ends up being compliments us personally rather than what everybody else is wearing.
