Ok so several friendly tips, from someone who has grown these for years: -Always feed bits of food smaller than the trap so the trap COMPLETELY closes and seals around the food -They only need like 3 traps worth of food every month or two. Too much more could cause trap rot -Do not trigger the traps when not feeding. It makes the traps die faster -Keep in full sun -only use distilled water. They need mineral free water -Mine likes to sit in a very shallow dish of distilled water -They like a dormancy period in your fridge over winter Good luck with your flytrap!

I feel like she did everything wrong when it comes to feeding, 1. They need live insects, if you give it a dried one it will just think that it’s a leaf or a piece of dirt that fell into the trap, then it will just reject it. You said that the plants can think it’s a live worm, plants can’t think, Venus flytraps need constant movement for at least 4 hours to know that the insect is alive or not, warm water doesn’t do anything. 2. They are plants, they can only eat what fits into their traps, giving it a larger worm just makes the traps rot. 3. You shouldn’t over feed it, over feeding it is just like over fertilizing it, a few bugs per week is well enough for these plants. 4. your plants definitely ist eating the worm, you can see it eating only when the plant shuts its traps completely and when it starts to secrete digestive juices. Please do ur research before buying these plants, don’t just get your info from just one source, go visit sarracenia northwest or visit some trusted sites.

You actually need to stimulate the trap so the plant knows it's food. Any twig or stick falls on the plant won't be digested because it doesn't move. The more you move the meal worms in the trap the more digestive juices the plant will secrete and easier will be the digestion. 😀

Congratulations on your new plant! Venus flytrap’s are really cool and I really fun but there are some rules you have to follow or else they will die. First never water it should sit in a small dish of distilled water at all times replace the water every month . Second, you may want to put your venus fly trap in a decorative pot but never do that instead leave it in the plastic pot it comes in ! Third, make sure your Venus flytrap goes in a south or west facing window, right in the window, not away, but right in the window cell or on a shelf near it. Hope these tips help

If the bug is to big , the head will turn black and you’ll kill it. Btw I own one and have made these mistakes as well , luckily it’s still alive

@shyspeaks92383 жыл бұрын
Don't be concerned if you kill it because they're very finicky if not kept under the right conditions. They also go through a hibernating like period during a certain time frame and will begin to appear dead, which is when a lot of unknowing owners trash them. So whilst very fun to look at, many people struggle to see these things survive past a couple months if they aren't tending to it properly. Lots of people also keep them in the house without realizing how much light they actually need to survive because they are actually outside plants. BUT, some people do successfully cater to them indoors. Regardless of the fact, I hope your enjoy your journey as a new (or renewed) plant mum! ALSO - another thing. People suggest not over feeding them or feeding the same head repetitively BECAUSE the traps will actually DIE after a certain amount of feeds. Once they reach that amount they turn black and can be trimmed for aesthetic purposes but only trim the black - never green as it's still living and provides nutrients to the plant.

I really wouldn't feed it. You have to know that dead insects are not good, i'll try to explain why: the leaf of the plant has 6 tiny hair which are called triggers. As one of them is touched once by an insect a timer is set, in fact if another (or even the same again) hair is touched within 20 seconds since the first one was touched, the trap will close and until here nothing bad. But the digestive fluids are released if a third contact occurs and this happens only if the insect is still alive but if it is dead it won't. In fact you will probably see it open in 1 or 2 days, but to digest a pray that big it might take even 15 days and it is very stressful for the plant, it might die. If you want to feed it give it only alive insects, and then DON'T feed it that much, it isn't necessary, it is enough to feed it twice or three times a month. They are not very easy plants to grow so please pay attention. I hope you'll read this comment

Its better to not feed them yourself because then the plant will get used to not Hunt by itself, Its better to sometimes leave them outside in your garden and they will eat the mosquitos, also, you dont have to water it ditectly, just put some rain water in a plate and the venus on top and that does the trick, hope I helped
