I'm already missing the Duke 390. But I have to agree... this MT-09 with the Scorpion exhaust sounds really really good. I used to ride an 2016 XSR900 stock and the sound was nowhere near as good... actually it didn't sound good at all.

I've missed quite a few of your videos but had to comment on this one. The single biggest help to one's riding skill is riding off-road. Once you get comfortable with differing terrain and reading said terrain, reading the road and relying on excellent on-road traction becomes so much easier.

Ayy back on the bigboi bikes at last. I would have quite liked seeing another sportsbike really, but the MTs are good too. I do recommend the Tracer if you can ever find one though, I had one for a month or so as a courtesy bike and it rocked (albeit with a terrible seat).

I was recently on the same bike category search, after owning big bikes for years and then small bikes for a while. I was ready to buy a Tracer 900... but ended up falling in love on first sight with a white Hyperstrada 821 from 2014. We are happily married ever since. It is a spectacular bike, so much fun on every ride. And as you so nicely put it, "I sleep better at night knowing that I have a big bike waiting for me".

The annoying thing about that tire hugger plate mount is it doubles as the axle block on the left side (ugh why). So if you want to eliminate the fender you have to spend ~$50 on an extra thick axle block (to account for the lengthened rear axle). They could have easily made it a simple removal job but instead they opted for the hassle and had to lengthen the axle to boot.

I too was torn when selecting which rides to stick with for the last 10 years. Worked in Vietnam per my contract, and had been there for oh so long. Many imported bikes you could bargain from 2nd hand markets, and my journey started there. My first was a nice DR-250, but illegally imported and parts were ass. Sold. My first and officially registered ride was an FZ-06 remapped to draw blood, and it was sick! It parted way with me when I met my wife, so reluctantly I ought to downgrade my daily ride. A weird Honda scooter called Air Blade then carried me for almost 3 years. On her depart to the new owner, I cried. It was the best Honda scooter I'd ever ridden in my life. A 2018 Fatbob and a flashy 150cc mini sport bike were brought within that year. 2 yrs and 50 stiches later (thanked to the wobbly Dyna frame which HD infamously never fixed), Bob was traded for another car, and that sport bike for 3 more bicycles. My current and most impressive ride is another Honda. They had the idea of bringing XR series back from limbo, or at least apart from its production in Brazil, by sourcing that engine into an under-bone frame (NOT SCOOTER btw). Still DOHC, 150cc single, EFI thanks God, kick start optional, and full of fun. Her name is Winner - GTR 150 in Malaysian market - and seemingly has won my heart. I did the favor by remapping the whole bike plus better breathing exhaust and air filter, and 17hp lined up with 2-stroke throttle response. Unfortunately, I am looking for adventure bikes in the future, which will outclass mine without a doubt. Until then, this has been an interesting yet ongoing motorcycle journey. You do share a common cause like me, to (almost) settle with an adventure bike after experiencing naked and full fairing sport for a while. Thank you for riding with us. Enjoy your new bike.

Interesting, I can't speak for the 1st gen but the 3rd gen I wouldn't say is disappointing compared to an R6, they both make the same amount of power and the MT is way more fun on the open road. I own a 2021 MT09, 2007 R6, 2010 Daytona 675 to name a few.
