I also got all the steam achievements in Lost World, and it honestly made the game more fun for me, plus the spin dash when you learn how to actually use it, the game becomes 100 times better. The only real problem i had with Lost World achievements is sometimes they wouldn't load or register and i had to do it again.

I give Sega some credit for at least trying to have the achievement system built into the game instead of just being on Steam (seeing as the Wii U doesn’t have an achievement system), but overall this still feels like it’s just tacked on because they needed it to put on the store than to replace the Yoshi/Link levels. Truth be told, I think the red rings already did the job for a completion objective as they already require you to search the levels and master certain mechanics of the game, coupled with holding Super Sonic as your reward. It truly doesn’t help that you’re locked to only 3 achievements at a time, like it’s trying to mimic Sonic Dash for some reason, without any way to change them if you’re unable to complete one at that point (half the Zeti not being referenced in game by name not helping this). I'd say the system might work better if they just had Omochao act as a checklist for the quests you completed without prohibiting you from others, but the game has so many duplicate missions that it’s almost as if it has to hide them so newcomers don’t complete multiple at once. If it were up to me, I’d say to just trim the fat and just have 20-30 missions you'd be able to complete in any order, and possibly throw the post game bonuses to be unlocked by completing a certain number of these so you feel like you’ve earned them by doing good in the game (like them red Rings). I know that games design is not as simple as how I’m wording this (trust me, I know), but this system they’ve built takes more work to program than a checklist!!

I agree with a lot of this (and funnily enough, I've written similar for an upcoming video). There was a lot of restrictions with the system, and whilst I love achievement systems in general, they really didn't do an amazing job of this one. Primarily because Omochao is terrible, I assume.

Obviously it's too little too late. But the easier way to dodge Eggman's clap attack is to just spam the bounce attack, because on the final bounce it sends you higher than usual, and you get way more airtime to avoid him. Plus because it's an auto-scroller, there's zero loss in speed.

Sonic Lost World was the first Sonic game I did not play and could not play. Why? Apparently I am sensitive to camera angles and drawn out camera angle panning of Sonic Lost World gave me such bad headaches I physically could not :( Its the only one I haven't played! But at least now I can watch you play it and enjoy it. 100 achievements is a lot but I know this will be great! You motivate me to keep going for my own Sonic platinums. instead of having each achievement tied to the omochao missions, i'd have made it so you get achievements for all sorts of stuff in the game, from getting red rings and s ranks too, with the omochao related ones just being for hitting milestones like 25, 50 and 100 missions. would cut down significantly on the total achievements and would allow some to not be hidden, sega be weird i guess

For those of you trying to do the Black Bomb missions on the Wii U but don't have the DLC to farm them(like myself), just last night, I discovered a little exploit... If you use the BB wisp and fail, go to the console Home screen (DON'T leave the level), close the game, then reload the game. The wisp should be right back in your inventory! I dont think its one of the most polished, there are some real weird, janky slow downs in the levels. And Sonic just doesn't handle well. Graphically its actually lovely, I'm not against the art direction at all. But gameplay is so awkward a lot of the time.

Thanks for the video, Master Trainer Gaming! I didn't know this game had 100 achievements. Having a good amount of tasks to complete in a game is one thing, but this seems somewhat overboard. It just leads to a lot of padding and making getting all of them incredibly tedious especially when the only reward for completing all of them is just a bragging rights claim. By the way, I have some questions for you. 1 I hate to sound pushy, but how is your progress on getting the Debut License achievement in Sonic Free Riders? A part of me fears that due to the online-only nature of that achievement combined with the inevitably that someday the servers for that game will be taken down, you will miss out on your to chance to get it. I keep thinking that the servers will unexpectedly close sooner rather than later since that game is seen as pretty terrible especially now the Xbox 360 online store is permanently closed. 2 You can still get another small video's worth of content on this game. Remember my suggestion a while back for another series you can someday make out of Sonic games (or even just games in general) that focuses on game content that doesn't contribute to achievements/trophies or getting 100 percent of the game. The original Wii U version had the DLC levels for Yoshi and Zelda and the 2 player mode you can showcase. If you didn't get those Nintendo DLC levels for the Wii U while you the Nintendo eShop was still up, you can play them through modding.

And to answer your questions: 1) Progress is fine, thank you for asking :) We're good. 2) I'm interested in 100%ing these games, but also from a business perspective the achievements tag on a video works better for marketing. Also its really what interests me right now, so I'm focusing there and going to 100% other games. I got all the Sonic 06 DLC on Xbo 360 before the store shut (and a few themes too) so I'll do one for that and such.

One night I slept over at a friend's house. About 3 hours in, they brought me downstairs to one of their lounges. It was amazing. An Xbox One, A PS4, and... most importantly... a Wii U. After a bit of Mortal Kombat, I started to search through the games to see if anything caught my eye. The Xbox One games weren't much, the PS4 games weren't that appealing, but then the Wii U... one of my friend's friends had given them a copy of Sonic Lost World: Deadly Six Edition. I found it, knew it didn't take long to beat, and said, "yeah, this game should be fun"... hehehe Booting the game up, it seemed great. The opening cutscene was well animated, the story seemed better than Colours, Generations, and Forces so far, and the world map was well done... then I entered the first level. The slippery controls, the awkward double jump, the weird 3d animation, the awful Mario Galaxy like gameplay. I started to see why people hated this game. But, I persisted through the first three levels. But then, the last level of Windy Hill was blocked by an animal requirement. This was devilish. This was clearly a way to pad out the game's runtime. But... I persisted. Into world 2, 2-1 and 2-2 were sort of breathers. 2-2 even being my favourite level so far... but it would also be my favorite level of this entire game. The cutscenes started to make less and less sense as Sonic's infamous lines like "diet and exercise" and "so sorry you have nothing better to do in life" started to give me whiplash. The game slowly getting worse and worse as I experienced unfair death after unfair death with the occasional decent level that gave me some serotonin... I said occasional... After World 5's stupid owl gimmick that almost made me break the gamepad, it was late, 12:30am, I was tired. And the Wii U gamepad's pathetic battery saved me from the last world... at the time i thought it was the last... I went to bed, and despite being kept up by my friends, I got a whole 6 hours of sleep... and the first thing I did when I woke up... I booted up Sonic Lost World again... The slippery controls had pissed me off enough last night... but this morning, they were worse. World 6, the world I thought was the last, wasn't the last. Lava Mountain was in my way. After 30 minutes of finding this out, I groaned. I wanted to put the game down... but... I needed to beat it... it was a duty of mine to beat every Sonic game... Lava Mountain Zone 1 was fine... I guess. Act 2 was a grinding stage that I loved the last few times. But this was a difficulty spike. Death after death, game over after game over, I was falling into the insane clutches of this game... But... with the feather powerup... I beat the level. Act 3 was a boss rush like Act 1. I cannot stress enough how bad the Deadly Six are. Stupid one trick ponies that Sonic considers a massive threat. I hate them, and I'm so glad this was the last I saw of them... Then the final boss has the audacity to recuse the Colours boss fight. THREE TIMES the series has used that boss. It was mediocre, insulting, awful, but... I beat the boss... watched the final cutscenes, as I stared at the credits, having fully lost my mind at Sonic Lost World: Deadly Six Edition... Credit to you for plowing your way through this game... I hope your sanity is intact after this experience... but mine... was in shambles... and the worst part about it... the worst part about all of this... is that my friend is getting Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric for me to play next time I come... Wish me luck...

The fucking Bomb Wisp achievements are the worst, the ones where you have to blow up X amount of enemies at the same time. Sounds fine but the way ground enemies move towards you and will die when they touch you when you're in Bomb form means you have to aggro a few enemies and then try to keep them within the range of your explosion but not so close they die by touching you, and then just wait for the timer to run out so the bomb explodes since you can't explode manually. Shit SUCKS.

Also also, the RC Vehicles are goated and Sega should bring them back for their mainline Sonic games.

this reminds me of a video by "vannamelon", where she was playing a game called "Sonic Omochao edition". it's just like Sonic 1, BUT Omochao "helpfully" displays messages every time you collect a ring or defeat an enemy, or do ANYTHING but run and jump. this wouldn't be so bad, EXCEPT that Omochao PAUSES THE GAME EVERY TIME! and the longer the message, the longer the pause! it took her over ten minutes to finish the first level, and she was avoiding as many rings as she could! kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6Owm4uYedOMZqs

It's very subjective. I don't think it's a good Sonic game overall, and im not in a rush to play it again if im honest, but I think there are some interesting aspects that it tried. I respect that its some peoples jam though, 100 percent. As I said, subjective.

Bro how'd you get it to run? iirc when i first tried playing the game on steam entering 1-1 would cause sonic to t-pose and the game would crash seconds later 💀

​@@platipete Well, Zavok was actually a pretty good character in the IDW comics. It shows that the real issue was the writers during the 2010s. With people like Ian Flynn and Evan Stanley now at the helm of storytelling, it can turn hated concepts and characters into fan favorites.

You don't have to make fun of Zavok or be sarcastic about him every time he's onscreen geez, I like him and so do others. He's a great simple villain and the hate towards him and all the six have been really ridiculous.

If you like Zavok, that's awesome! Not saying you shouldn't or can't. But I personally really dislike them as characters. That said,, the making fun of him is actually intended as a reference to my Sonic Forces video more than anything.

I feel the whole Deadly Six were forced, one note caricatures aimed for a specific audience, and whilst there is a place for that in certain games for certain audiences, it doesn't fit Sonic. So them pushing Zavok in other games didn't sit well with me personally. If they're your jam, thats cool, and no disrespect to you or anyone who does like them. I know there are plenty who dont like other aspects that I like as well. I hope you found the other parts of this video fun though :)

@@platipete Define forced cause they were just created for a game and added into it. They weren't anymore forced than say Silver in 06 or Black Doom in Shadow 05. Zavok and Zik definitely aren't one note and while the others have very face value personalities, they're fun and quirky and honestly that's what it's all about. They're just fun villains and I don't get why Sonic isn't allowed to have that and has to have a character like Mephiles as the bad guy all the time. How don't the six fit Sonic, what about Chao, what about the Wisps, what about Dark Gaia, what about Black Doom, all these otherworldly creatures that look bizarre compared to Sonic and are also very much on the simple side. The Zeti fit right in with Chao and Wisps so saying they "don't fit Sonic" is honestly ridiculous. And they've never pushed Zavok into other games, they've merely used him as a semi reoccurring villain. What they're just supposed to never use him again? They're just supposed to throw all these guys out because some don't like them? Zavok has really just been used in spin off games which shouldn't be an issue even more, the only other mainline game he's been in was Forces. TSR was like the only game where it felt like he shouldn't have really been there as he doesn't like Eggman and the reason for him joining him was really shallow. But yeah the rest of your vid was fine.

Idk why, I just did, and I remember having so much trouble on the last one I completed, which was actually wall jump 20 times... I ended up getting it in Desert Ruins after much trial and error. But it's worse on the Wii U cause you don't get a notification that you beat the mission until after you complete the level...
