I legit never Platinumed Sly 4 because of that damn 8-Bit Bently trophy because a single arcade machine was too tough for me as a teenager. Then my safe file got corrupted so I lost all my progress, and it would have taken completely replaying the game from the start just to get the arcade machines working again for another attempt. So to this day, a single trophy kept me from the quadruple platinum. Kudos to you for managing all 4.

Sly 4 is actually my favorite Sly Cooper game along with Sly 2. It's criminally underrated. The hate towards it is highly exaggerated imo. It's almost ridiculous.

I hate it personally because all of the characters are so wildly OOC. I like the time travel bit, but the story felt very underwhelming. I'm glad someone enjoys it though!

@@kaerstyx Tbh, if you replay the original trilogy, you'll see the writing is actually a bit underwhelming and overrated. Sly 3 especially has a lot of issues, like the Panda King forgiving Sly in literally a few seconds by talking to himself in the mirror, which in retrospect is a bit ridiculous. This is one example among many other things, and I feel like criticizing Thieve in Time's writing but praising the trilogy's writing is being either dishonest or blinded by nostalgia. Even the whole Penelope thing is not as crazy as people are making it out to be, when you think about it. A good comparison would be how people criticize Sly 4 for "sexualizing" Carmelita (especially in the dance mini-game of Chapter 5), whereas in Sly 3, she becomes a giant that growls and that Sly has to literally climb, which is an incredibly cringe fetish that everybody seems to have forgotten.

@@slyrxccoon I agree with you lol, I never did say I liked Sly 3. 1 & 2 reign supreme for me. Sly 3 absolutely has a lot of issues, but to me it's still better and more enjoyable than 4. I don't think it's even fair to compare 4 to 1 and 2, 4 quite literally does not stand a chance against them in terms of quality and story telling.

Sly 2 was the best game in my opinion. It perfected the craft of storytelling, gameplay, and character usage and the only thing I disliked was how they killed off Arpeggio at the end to make Neyla the main villain inside Clockwork. Sly 3 gave good QOL changes, like Murray and Bentley can pickpocket, however the lack of clues and treasures give you barely any reason to explore the map outside of going to missions. If they gave themselves 2 years instead of rushing it in 1. I also wish they would've started the game with Sly sneaking in to visit Mc Sweeny instead of having it as part of the cutscene and starting the game at the end. As for Sly 4, it had potential to be great but the characters felt like they were handled poorly. Sly felt like he was always making jokes and never serious and him going back to being a thief after the last game where he puts his love for Carmelita first and leaving his legacy behind just felt off. The approach could've been Bentley finds him and explains the situation forcing Sly to go back to it despite his love for Carmelita. They then could've put Sly in a position where instead of just betraying her for "the urge" he had an actual reason to steal and would make sure he'd make it up to Carmelita (Remember, even if Sly wasn't told about what was happening, he was still planning on thieving one more time.) Murray didn't have to go through another character arc where he needed to feel useful, he's already strengthened his resolve when he saved the gang from Octavio in Sly 3 to make up for Bentley getting injured. Bentley was the only one who felt in character. His confidence remains from the previous games and only falters when he discovers Penelope's betrayal. Even then he comes back and saves his friends at the end. As for the overall story, it was just underwhelming to me. The bosses feel cartoony instead of intimidating and villainous and Le Paradox's family being a Cooper copy but worse making him envious of them made his reasoning for hating the Cooper's weak. Even so, I would've loved for him to have teamed up with Clockwork in the past and got him involved at the end as a surprise villain (Yes, using Clockwork a third time seems redundant but it definitely could've worked in this game.) Regardless, the Sly franchise, even Sly 4, will always hold a special place in my heart. As for Sly 1, I didn't want to compare it to the others since it's fundamentally different, but it built the foundation of what Sly 2 would come to be as well as having enjoyable gameplay even with the life system, enjoyable characters and villans, and overall is a fun experience and more casual gameplay.

Personally, I think that the Penelope in Sly3 and the one in Sly 4 are actually Twins, with the one in Sly 4 being the Evil one who kidnapped the Good-ish one (got to remember, she rain that whole fighter pilot thing). Got something of a fanfic operating off of that idea - Evil one was the Popular one, who thought that she'd get the money, and the guys, only for the Good one - a grease mouse, as it were, to get not only the money, but the guy as well. As it is, the premise is that the Good Penelope gets placed in a dungeon, until Galleth frees her, Good Penelope clears up any confusion where her Evil Twin is concerned, they hunt down parts to make a time machine, gets back to the Present (with a few months added on), and after clearing up a few more things with the Gang and Inspector Fox (and Interpol), it's off to take down the Evil Sister and/or Locate Sly.

I sort of like your theory, lockwoan. I mean, the fact that Penelope was helping Sly get his treasure and Sly even let her split the Cooper treasure after it was secured, you'd think she would not treat him with disrespect, and would know that her boyfriend was, pardon the pun, thick as thieves with Sly, so why the hell would she decide "Bentley needs to get away from that thief" and turn against the one she helped out? The fact that this Penelope who went evil escaped from jail after a few days and knew where Bentley lived shows this Penelope is much more intelligent than she lets on. Still, unless someone picks up the Sly Cooper property and created a Sly 5, we will never know for sure.

Currently, I'm a main contributor of an interactive fanfic, and it has more than a few branches that revolve around this theory, and kind of take place post Good Penelope getting back to the Present (I'm working on how she gets back on my own independent thing). Here's some of the Storylines - 1. Carmelita's New Partner, and Mugshot's Mother - Carmelita is assigned a rookie agent to monitor, and train up, an agent, who is, of all things, a cousin to none-other-than La Paradox. At the same time, Mugshot has broken out of prison in order to ask the Cooper Gang to help him recover his most sacred treasure - his beloved mother, who has just been abducted by a certain evil mouse. 2. Cooper Family History - A recent dig in Egypt uncovers a family connection to the Cooper Gang, in more ways than one. However, the Archeologist in charge has been abducted. Now Carmelita and the Gang need to unearth the truth of the Cooper family, and dig up something from the past. 3. Carmelita and the Cooper Gang Meet The Bad Guys in Zootopia - Interpol has extended a Pardon for the members of the Cooper Gang, in exchange for them protecting a valuable emerald. Likewise, the Reformed Bad Guys have been given a job to make sure that no one breaks into the same exhibit. The location - Zootopia. Will these two gangs learn to cooperate in order to pull this job off? What happens when certain foxes run into each other? Read to find out.
