Yea I only got to understand what was going on after I got the card on hand myself. It seems like New World blowing up GPUs was more like EVGA cards being faulty.
@N0N01112 жыл бұрын
@@OTechnology Yes there was a huge community investigation why the cards were blowing up. EVGA was very silent in that period, but they handle it well by giving owners new cards. Some owners even got 4th to 5th replacement models lol. As EVGA came to understand the PCB design was faulty they silently redesigned it and limit the ver. 0.1 on power draws. Good you did some investigations, and i would quickly return this card and get the new revisions with less power blocks and revision fixes.

@@N0N0111 yea I will have a follow-up video comparing the PCBs of the 2 revision to see what exactly they changed. Would be interesting to see because it seems like EVGA is staying silent about what's wrong with the Rev 0.1.

I managed to buy one used as well. Previously I'd have a 3090fe in my own machine and in this second machine I've now got the 3090 ftw3. I think I'm going to take it out and remove the fans and shroud and clean all dust properly. Did you do any cleaning of yours when you got it? (Update: I removed the fan shroud and each fan and cleaned the dust and fluff on the heatsink, there was very little but I've done it. I didn't remove the fan shroud LED connector, just lay the fan shroud to the side and I didn't remove the fan connectors on the PCB, just carefully pulled each fan out of the way to clean the heatsink and the dust from the back of each fan blade. Looks like new now.

@OTechnology2 жыл бұрын
No it will not. I have used liquid metal on shunts on every gpu and laptop I had for years. Never an issue with conductonaut. Der8auer even said its fine instead, I think you remembered wrongly. The copper plate is way more expensive for some silly pieces of copper, I've used copper shim pads successfully on all my GPUs as well. Its only difficult if you don't know what you're doing.

That's fucking insane! Where are you sitting on the leaderboards in timespy?
@reviewforthetube64852 жыл бұрын
@@OTechnology may I ask what the max clock you were able to get out of yoyr evga 3090? I mean I bet you didn't expect to be able to pull 700 watts with that card either did you? I will say it seems like most cards like 90s and ti variants of the 90s are sitting within 600-700watts in that bios. So it's hard to get past that unless it's with the kingpin ti hybrid or as you said the asus hybrid. I really expected the suprim x to be the best variant cor air cooled but Temps weren't as stable and it's clocks didn't go as high when overclocking which was unexpected memory overclocked great though! But yeah Idk it just seems evga knows what to do regardless of reading a spec sheet they know what to do for overclocking needs. I hate using places like techpowerup but even they weren't able to overclock cards as well as they could with the evga 3090ti and the asus strix 3090ti. It was there top 2 I'm 3090ti. Now out of rhe box yes some are higher but overclocked nope evga and asus sit at the top in air cooled and in hybrid varaints. Weirdest part is you can't find those results unless you look at the overclocking snd poeer limit page on there site of the suprim x then it shows there max oberclok of the cards and the evga ftw3 ultra and the asus hybrid were thw top 2. The sad part is my ultra is much higher then there's even. Most people I know are.

Also i’d like to add on the GA102 based FTW3 cards(minus the 90Ti-still unsure), they all have some sort of fuse on all 4 PCIE inputs(pcie slot, 8 pin 1-3) that can and will blow, causing the infamous red light of death this was the other reason I ended up selling it since coupled with the absurd power limit imbalance, I was putting way too much load on the PCIE slot when I was using the GALAX XOC bios(something that isn’t an issue on the strix LC due to its superior VRM and less power balancing issues compared to the EVGA where the PCIE slot, Pin 1 and 2 just takes the full weight of the power while pin 3 is maxed out at 100w afaik(other pins are >130 if I recall correctly)
