I got ARRESTED! CRIMINAL RECORD|First long distance drive| Gauteng to EC

Journey with this dental student! As she drives all the way to Eastern Cape, East London from Gauteng. The road is full of ups and downs as she finds herself caught exceeding the speed limit. Got arrested and charged. Really scared about getting a criminal record as that could derail my whole dentistry career.

Same happened to me doing a long distance trip - you don't always know the speed limit in new places. Was put in handcuffs and put in their car and driven to the police station while my friend drove my car behind - with threats of a criminal record, license suspended etc - terrifying experience. By the time we got there we had such a nice chat and became friends, they let me go.

Please get yourself a good lawyer to have it removed. Criminal Record is like a death sentence in South Africa. You are automatically unemployable. My friend a straight A Architect. Was gonna get a job that was gonna change his life. 5 x his current salary. He got refused the job due to a shoplifting charge when he was 18. If you don't have a lawyer. It takes about 10 years to apply for expungement. To have the record removed. So please get a lawyer asap. It's not worth it.

Eish , Free State 😐 they don't play stick to the speed limit,I remember I was traveling to Cape Town with my friend luckily he was driving the first part of our journey and bo y we were flying and we were stopped for speeding, he was clocking 260km per hour ,the bail was R3,000 and when he appeared in court in Bloemfontein the fine was R10,000 his license suspended for 12 months

I do not get the South African Traffic system, what generally happens in Namibia is. The officers writes you your Speeding ticket on the spot and lets you go, and gives you three months to settle the fine or if for any reason you'd like to contest the ticket in court then you can go to court. and if you did not pay your fine within the three months or showed up in court only then a warrant of arrest will be issued to you.

Wow, I visited SA in January and February, and I drove from Johannesburg to Drakensberg, to Durban, then from Durban to Zululand, then from Zululand to Cape Town with a few stops in between each location. The only problem I ran into was a traffic inspection and they didn't check my car. They let me go. I guess they noticed I wasn't South African. I hope everything worked out. Do you think the cops pocket the money (put the money in their pockets) LOL. Great video.

No you get a receipt for the payment and it’s recorded in police records…this is no joke. Not all African law enforcement are corrupt. SA traffic cops operating on national roads are hectic, quite strict. So you didn’t get any of your car checked because they didn’t suspect you if any criminal activity, means they asked for your driving licence and checked car licence and road worthiness, not all traffic stops are to check your car or catch dangerous criminality but just to check speed, driving licence and car licence validity
