I've grown a huge amount of respect for good Zangief players over the years. Even though repeated usage of SPDs is the general gameplan for the character, sometimes its the sheer threat of a *possible* SPD that crawls into your head and baits a fatal mistake 😂😂😂😢

As a Gief player I thank you. Playing Gief you have to get real psychological with your opponent. The real power of the SPD is not the damage it does but the psychological damage. You condition and bait them into doing bad moves. Everyone has a plan until they get SPD'ed

Always entertaining watching megas zangief . It's no easy feat staying within grappling range as gief and against an opponent who knows how to place his projectiles and footsies no less . You have to have patience of steel to play and consistently dominate with gief . Mega and itazan are my favorite gief players they make the chase seem so effortless.

The spatial awareness of this guy. Like when he trained Justin to anticipate the jump in heavy kick. He didn't do anything with that, until he needed it to win the round. He jumped in with a light punch, which shortens the landing by enough pixels to make Justins standing AA whiff and he could pluck him during its start up. So good.

I remember the first time I experienced the invincible lariat in the arcade in eighth grade. I thought it was a glitch because I couldn't see how anyone could stop Gief. Turns out Capcom saw the same thing, which is why he never got it back and they gave him the far inferior green glove in Turbo.
