Wishing you a speedy recovery, Janek. Injuries are no fun, but I am sure you will come back even stronger than ever.

Thank you so much for this video. I had a real problem about 4 years ago with my left hand that caused a lot pain, plus tendinitis, in my pinky and ring finger. Stupid guitars. Anyway, it took 6 months before I could play again, another 2 years before really things felt up to strength. I changed my technique massively, and that has helped so much. Your video and your “healing exercises” are a fantastic insight, and I wish more players put out content like this. Thank you so much, again. Wishing you a full and speedy recovery. Respect 🙏🏻☀️ PS Happy new home. Just moved recently, too. So much work, but like you, the new studio is going to be amazing.

Speedy recovery my good chap. I had a big injury in 2002 6 hours os surgery. Both arms, well shattered left wrist and severed my ulna nerve. I have a few things to accompany it, dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD, so falls are part of the fun. Anyhow I had to hang up the upright but I am still playing loads. Medical science has moved on and you will be fine. ❤

I got a mean tendinitis on the pinky of my fretting hand during my 1st semester at music college. That was a huge bummer and took a long time to heal. Hope yours heals up quickly!

Wishing you a speedy recovery as well. I'm not even a professional player and I dread an injury to my fingers so I can only imagine how it feels as a professional. Wish you the best and thanks for sharing.

Damn, I hope you get better fast. I hurt my hand at work and lost most of my feeling in the right hand except my little finger. It took me years to get my hand back to normal feeling and being able to play bass at all. One person that motivated me to play again were you and I am incredibly thankfull for stumbling over your channel. So let me shout a massive THANK YOU JANEK. Love from Vienna

Really sorry to hear it! I recently found out I have Cubital Tunnel as well as some nerve damage near my neck/left shoulder (tbd how bad it is after an EMG study). Been having lots of pains in my chest, and my left arm went completely numb one night. It's really defeating, but I was just glad to learn it wasn't a heart problem. I ordered one of those double shoulder straps to try out and I'll see if it helps. I've been wearing a wrist strap while working at the computer.

Been there a few times, from motorcycle accidents to Diy and woodworking making basses which I now gave up . It can take many many weeks to get the dexterity back, obviously the worst thing you can do is try to play through it , gauging the direction of the injury which tendon and how to best help ! I found a few weeks of actual rest is best from the injury . Then as you said exercises . But also doing exercises in warm water and in cold water really helped . The extra weight pressure helped during exercises. After 6 weeks was almost back to normal

I’ve worked with my hands for years on top of being a bassist. I’ve had many injuries to my hands and fingers from various minor things to a few more serious hinderances. I’m feeling the strain of being a blue collar worker more and more each year. Trying to take care as much as possible but then again, I’m not a professional musician so I guess I’m the only one that really suffers.

I had a similar experience with same finger. Golfers elbow was factor work place RSI was a factor and catching my finger on a funny angle over extension about 20 years ago were all causes . My treatment was an elbow guard to let the elbow recover, playing really lightly and plenty of rest. A good dietIt’s a continuous battle but I know how to manage it for now. Hopefully you recover with residual issues

Oh man, this is wild- I have an injury on my middle finger, left hand. Also a first in my bass career. Got it from rock climbing after an intense weekend of upright bass gigs... I've had to cancel a few gigs this month to give myself time to heal. It sucks. But I'm grateful for tai chi, been practicing since 2009, and it has helped me avoid injuries (especially with upright bass).

I developed arthritis in my right index finger several months ago. I don't feel any pain or discomfort when I'm playing my bass. But the moment I stop playing and start doing other things, that's when I feel it. Played fingerstyle exclusively, but I've started using a pick half the time when I'm playing to manage the discomfort after playing. My right index finger is slowly feeling better. If John Entwistle and Anthony Jackson can switch between fingerstyle and pick, so can I.

Did you try alternating cold and heat? Place your finger in iced water until well chilled then under very hot water as long as you can. Repeat several times to encourage good blood flow to the injured area. Best wishes for a swift and complete recovery!

Similar injury happened to me from lifting heavy boxes, I stopped using my index fingers to lift because it pulled on the finger awkwardly, so I lift using three fingers -middle, ring, pinky, = less awkward pull on the index fingers. Get well and good luck!

RSI/tendonitis. Take some naproxin... ice... and give it a few days off.
@gonzalotrejos35565 ай бұрын
You might not like it, but it can be a bass related injury, detonated by the moving. See a doctor. I'm a 55 y/o bass player, started at 12, and have been injured in many ways, most of them got well just by taking it easy with the practice sessions, hot and cold immersions, really simple stuff, but don't let it unattended. Hope you get well soon, take care.

wow, i'm so sorry to hear this. i also had a picking finger injury a year or so ago, from playing bass. i was playing in a bar and couldn't hear myself well and was overplaying. so stupid. since then, i have tried to turn up my amp or use in-ears when possible and pluck with a light touch. huge. also, i started doing these stretches, which are fantastic: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ioTVl3Vtf66trrs I also found that i have a personal trigger. I have to limit how much a do touch typing on a keyboard. it really makes my plucking finger flare up! I actually stopped using computer as much and often use a hint and peck method now when typing and only use my middle (very healthy) fingers. warm ups and stretching have helped me a lot. Thank you for your helpful video. plus, i hate to say it, but it applies to me too. you're getting old, lol!

Janek, Hi! I know - no one believes in Jesus, but I do more than 40 years and if I have problems with bones, mind, head, heart - I know - all I want to do is just put my hand on the "problematic region" and I command in Jesus name - and it works! I do it for my friends who are in the hospital/ emergency, for my wife/ son for everyone (and for my enemies too) and they are live and happy! Amen. Do the same - take your wife's/ children`s hands and command in Jesus name and "you will see this "nonsense""will make miracles to you! :) Be Happy!

That's not really how Christianity works. It's not a spell-book to just cast a healing with a prefix "in Jesus name"
