You get to fish some really interesting , scenic and unusual places. I thought the hooks on your mate's eel shaped lure might have been too strong to set properly but they did finally work. That swift flowing river on the other side looked interesting too. Hope you get to fish that reservoir again soon. Tight Lines !

Conors 1st landed pike was a real beauty, totally pristine like a bar of gold! Your BEAST on that Snake Lure was amazing. Reminded me of a spot on the Tiverton Canal, that has some amazing top water pike fishing. Sadly on my last visit, there had been a low O2 mass fish kill event, and dead 20lbers and doubles etc were everywhere. It's hopefully recovered now to it's former glory, as it's got same absolute crocodiles in there for such a tiny shallow venue.

George, In such deep water like that, you have to retrieve deep and slow, with small jerks every turn of the reel. Then a pause for a second, before jerking and reeling again. I saw You were doing a straight retrieve, this Is way too fast. That Is some place, and there are hundreds of hidden places like this, with really big fish In them. I know quite a few here, that have had no action In years. The fish (If still in them) must be huge by now.
@martinsowerby50692 ай бұрын
Used to fish there about 30yr ago, it was stocked with rainbows so any pike caught we're to be removed, lots of perch aswell.

Just a thought .... the high loss rate with that eel lure makes me pretty sure that they were never really hooked in the first place, having just grabbed the long tail. As you know, predatory fish will hang on to a meal for as long as they possibly can, before eventually letting go.
@adventurefishinguk2 ай бұрын
It’s quite possible yes, that’s the main issue with those lures. The tail has a great action but the hookups can be tricky on smaller fish!
@misdit2 ай бұрын
@@adventurefishinguk yes indeed. I think I'd maybe form up a short link of wire trace from the eye of the back treble hook to a small treble in the tail, just to pick up the smaller fish. Even a big perch would struggle to get to the existing hook arrangement. Those lures were probably made with barracuda in mind!
@johnrickards19082 ай бұрын
