I got lost there, too. After being locked in a hotel room for 2 weeks suddenly having the freedom to go wherever I want. Still don’t know the whole area but usually find the way around

The motorcycle taxi driver tells you that the Pad Thai restaurant isn't open right now. It opens around 6 p.m., but they mix in some Thai. So it makes you not understand. 😅

If you are still in Bangkok you can go to the river and use the hop on and off catameran its cheap like three dollars all day long service... great way to hit many areas... Oh and by the way as you get near the robinsons department store near the shangra la hotel you will see many food optoions on the street and all around the department store and most of it is great....

on the other side of the street there were plenty of food options. Hungry's or Leks Seafood are pretty decent. just use the bts to cross the street.

Go to Northern Thailand this time. Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lampang , Lanphun, so many interesting places in the nort. Get out of Bangkok and the beaches this time.
