I got Metoidioplasty and not Phalloplasty (CC)

A metoidioplasty is a type of gender affirmation surgery, also referred to as a “bottom surgery” or a “meta.” The procedure uses the tissue from your clitoris to create a neophallus Before the surgery,
you should be on hormonal substitution therapy for at least one year.
Phalloplasty is the other most common form of lower surgery for AFAB trans and nonbinary people. While the metoidioplasty works with existing tissue, phalloplasty takes a large skin graft from your arm, leg, or torso.

In this Vlog, I share a new part of my transgender masculine healthcare journey, with an intimate look at the first stage of metoidioplasty, other wise knows as META, a form of lower surgery available to trans men and trans masc people.

So if you want to learn more about it or aren't sure whether you want this surgery or a phalloplasty, then this might help you to decide! This surgery was at a private hospital, but the funding was made available on the NHS.
I have been waiting 11 years, and all my life, for this surgery. This is the first stage out of a total of 3 stages. I might be getting a hysto before stage 2, which needs to be done separately, according to my surgeon. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have, but hope this gives you a valuable insight into what it's like to be a non-binary trans masculine person getting bottom surgery.

I am honestly so glad you're doing ok after the surgery. It was a long time coming but it is worth it. I had my top surgery on the 2nd of august this year, and I remember watching you on My Transsexual Summer and you and Lewis really helped me to come out as trans and know what it is possible to medically transition. thank you for. your honesty and for being so brave with such radical surgery. Im a female, love being a woman and have the deepest respect for those of you to go all the way with your transitioning. Sometimes I feel like "why" why risk such radical surgery pain and complications. why not just take the testosterone and live as a man, have a mastectomy and not risk such dramatic surgery that can easily go very very wrong. Did you watch the video? It took him years to get surgery and they changed the date multiple times. The NHS is horrible for trans people. Most have to wait over 5 years just for an initial NHS appointment for lower surgery, let alone surgery itself. Trans people don't get surgery because they are just homosexual cis people. There are tons of trans people that are dating someone of the same gender. (Ex. a trans woman dating a woman, a trans man who is dating a man, it's pretty common. I knew one couple like this in highschool, and that's in rural missouri.)
