Plastic bottles in nature drive me nuts! I dont like so-called "fairy trees" either or decorating living trees with plastic baubles at Christmas and the excuse that it's nice for the kids is a load of crap. Get them to appreciate nature in its natural state and cultivate their imagination without brightly coloured plastic! Same with the orienteering marks if that's what they were. Make marks but use biodegradable materials or clear it away afterwards. Fair play to you for hauling it out. It's a good workout. It's like plogging I think, a combo of jogging and picking up rubbish. They do it in Sweden.
@RamblingOn
@RamblingOn 10 ай бұрын
I've never heard of plogging but I've been back since to take what I had left behind. I spent 5 hours hauling all sorts of crap out of the woods that day and the way I saw it, it was exercise for me, fresh air and it made me feel really good to see it all removed. If it means that one little bird doesn't have to encounter it again then I'm happy out.

Good on you for being so environmentally aware and tidy . I am like that as well. I am wondering if when you have been out on a tidy up , have you found anything that you have kept . I once found a brand new bushcraft axe and a pair of walking poles which I still have after several years. I also once found what I thought was an abandoned tent . The nosey me had to have a look inside and found a dead man. The police thought he had died of a drugs overdose and died during the night . They suggested that I should see a counsellor to sort myself out and then I told them I worked for an undertaker and I went out collecting dead bodies. The officer was not a happy chappy after I told him that , lol . Cracking video Mate and keep up the great work.

😄 I hope I never come across that when I'm out and about but to be fair I handle dead bodies in work from time to time so it probably wouldn't bother me. I went back out for the stuff that I left behind and ended up cutting the groundsheet off the tent to use as a protective cover in my car. I hope to do a lot more tidying up in the future so it will come in handy. Other than that I haven't found anything that I ended up keeping

Jason, I was wondering if some of this trash was being washed downstream from a garbage dump or population center. Although, I did see that a fair amount of the trash was being thrown away after camping or party in the woods. I thought that only American's, speaking about my own country men and women, could leave that amount of trash in the woods. It seems that all countries have this disrespect for our environment. It is sad to see but refreshing that some people are actually working to make things better.

I'm watching your videos in backwards order or no order at all. 14:17 made me write this comment. I've commented before on some of the other videos. The start of my 'stretching my comfort zone' I decided on was attempting to go to my (I call it my anyways) nature reserve, with a grabber, bin liners and pick up litter. My thinking is if I have a purpose almost I can enjoy the nature and feel good about myself because all the litter really bothers me also. And if I manage that then I believe I can manage and enjoy a cheeky camp. I may even find my love for photography again. Either way the fact that you do that made me smile, so thanks ❤ keep doing you

It's a beautiful, huge park and part of my job is walking around picking rubbish. It's disgraceful. Sometimes people won't walk 3 feet (they are literally sitting 3 feet away from a bin) to the closest bin to throw their shit. It's education, or lack of it. Maybe they'll get some of the education they're not getting at home from youtube?Leave no trace should be taught everywhere, at home and at school too. Fair play Jason 👌 The rubbish is bad enough but the drums and the plastic bags (white outside/black inside) are forest waste. The bags are what they put the seedlings for planting in to and the drums are oil etc for chainsaws and other equipment. Those really piss me off as Coillte are supposed to be big LNT Ireland supporters yet they create so much crap it's unreal 😡 I don't think the plastic tags are for orienteering. Competitors don't usually follow a set course like that. I'd say it's more likely to be an adventure race of some sort. If it was me I'd try and find out who held it and shame them into clearing it up themselves. If they could be bothered to go out and mark the route then they should be able to clear them again! They've made a real horlicks of the ground too, it's a mess!

That red tape definitely has nothing to do with orienteering as a route is never marked like that. The tape certainly looks like it's marking a route. before i lived here 🏡 the people used the yard as a trash dump. in past years digging i found house trash bottles cans cable wires car parts.. down 5 feet? it is a drop in an ocean lol. if trash was worth money it would be clean 🏞 i find good things people throw out driving by.. yesterday a flatscreen tv 65 inch i repair ALL lol hvac appliances home & commercial.. but i cant do it anymore.. but i cant pass up? im like sanford & son 😂 other day found stuff.. in it was religious statues with white powder inside.. im not into that so out they went.

😄 it's great to have skills like that but I'd imagine you have gathered a lot over the years. I would have thrown out the white stuff too. good choice on that one and I hope the TV worked out

Great job, but watch your back. Don’t understand people that leave garbage like that. Some even seemed to be agricultural refuse from the foresters.

God I'll never understand why people just trash such beautiful land it's because of their actions that they shut down public land then everyone loses . Don't worry bud I do the same thing cause I want to keep using certain spots

We do in Sweden and one day a year all schools go out and pick up rubbish in nature. It's a fun day when businesses grill and serve food.

That's a lot rubbish, well done, but you are little crazy. The markers in the trees, well they are there to lure would be campers along route, then once dark the campers are taken. Where do you think the owner of the abandoned tent went, hey. Keep out of them there woods. Have you not watched Deliverance, squeal piggy squeal !!! Scary. Great vid by way.

Bless you my child but don’t don’t take on the whole forest… others need to do Their bit and you need to enjoy your walking without carrying rubbish around. Set a limit…. Eg I will collect rubbish I see for total of 40 minutes only… the rest of the time is mine for walking unhindered
