I think the manufacturer needs to make the access holes larger. Also did you think about putting a cushion in the cat part so Kurt can get more comfortable in it? I bet with real goldfish he would enjoy it a lot more. He has figured out the other fish are fake. Kurt is no dummy :)

As a former fish mom I thank you for not using real fish for this. These cat aquariums are enjoyable for cats and look nice to us but they scare the shit out of the fish and are bad for their health with the restricted space. I hope Kurt enjoys this for a long time!

Genuinely curious, do you think it would be possible to have a set-up where both the cat can enjoy watching the fish while not stressing out and potentially harming the fish? Maybe something where the cat can view, but the fish wouldn't see it staring back at them? While also providing plenty of plants or hiding places for the fish? I would love to have such a thing if I could do it without scaring the fish.

Get heavier fish and try lowering the water level. He looked very excited when the fish was initially dropped in right down to his eye level while crouched, but then the fish float up and he can’t enjoy them as much because he can’t see them up close when they are above him..
