After 3 years of doing barely anything to my hair, I finally did it - Japanese Hair Straightening, aka permanently chemically straightening my hair. I was hesitant to go through with this as it quite damaging and VERY expensive treatment (find my Patreon below lol). But I decided to go through with it and document the whole process. What shampoo/conditioner do you use now or was anything specific recommended? I read that it needs to be sulfate and paraben free which my salon shampoo/conditioner are.. I’m considering getting this treatment 😊

I think mine is paraben free but nothing special tbh. It’s so hard to find shampo/conditioner without sulfates… 🙈🥲

Hi! It does damage the hair. But so does straightening/curling (which is also a lot more effort). It’s extremely important to pick a skilled hairstylist to perform this! A solid salon should have a look at your hair beforehand and tell you if it’s not healthy enough to go through with the procedure ☺️

@@TerezaTichackova it’s life changing. When you break the price down to how many hours a month or year that you spend blowing out or ironing your hair, it’s very economical. An extra hour of sleep every day. Or extra hour to just enjoy life. Not to mention that stress that comes along with humidity or rainy days. Too bad so many hairstylist either don’t know about it or are just afraid to do it.

Yes! No one understands! 😂 I was visiting family in Southeast Asia and it was so hot and humid. And having curly hair that just frizzed up only made me feel that much hotter and stickier! 😂

Whatever makes you happy. You might have more styling options with straight hair, like a ponytail or plaits. You can always get a perm if you want a return to curly hair for a while. Long hair gives you lots of choices.
