In my mind, the real difference between him and Luffy isn't only capacity for growth in terms of strength but in terms of character. Kid's character depth is like a kiddy pool. At this point it would be a waste to follow Kid progressing further in the story, and it seems to me all of the development he got in strength and notoriety was just a plot device to hype up Shanks.

@@Kazoo_man64 While it's true that Luffy defnitely rushes into fights recklessly, I feel like he doesn't get enough credit for the fact that he actually learns from his defeats. He doesn't just go into rematches trying the exact same thing as last time, and we've got numerous examples of this. Most people recognize that Luffy has very good battle IQ, but they don't always appreciate how he uses the time after his defeats to grow for the rematch. I've seen a number of people say that you know Kaido is the man if he made Luffy of all people have to reflect on the fight, but it's not the first example. After losing to Crocodile, Luffy picked up on the hint that Crocodile could be damaged if covered in water, and made sure to come equipped with a barrel of water the next time. After losing to Aokiji just before water 7 he contemplated ways to make himself stronger and developed the gears. Combine that with the fact that he picked up on how to use Soru by watching the CP9 members, and it meant that by the time he reached Enies Lobby, he was much better equipped to go toe to toe with CP9. Even on a smaller scale, After losing to Caesar the first time, he got a better understanding of Caesar's ability and learned the range of his oxygen deprivation ability. Every time Luffy has lost a fight he has learned something that has improved him as a fighter. Contrast that with Kid who ACTUALLY just tries to barge his way through things without trying to learn from his many defeats. I don't understand how he left Wano without realising that Haki is the key to top tier combat (especially conqueror's, which he has). Man really thought his rail gun was going to threaten Shanks.

I've said this tons of times before but Akainu, Blackbeard and Shanks are important to Luffys narrative so they are untouchable until the time comes when either Luffy defeats them or they fight each other. Side characters like Kid and Law aren't important in the grand scheme of things so they were always going to be there just to play a role.

Shanks isn't getting through that barrier, if oden couldn't even scratch the barrier, then I think no body can get through it. Man oden was pissed when he was attacking orochi. Adv coc couldn't get through the barrier, does that mean barto's fruit may be invincible even against top tier haki. If it isn't, I would be disappointed, because barto ain't seeing luffy after that. 😂

I will say this; Oda clearly respects Law because Oda dedicated panels to giving Law a decent fight against Blackbeard. Yeah, we know Law lost but at least he went down swinging. Kidd got one shot worse than Luffy when he first fought Kaido. Bege got more respect against Big Mom than Kidd got against Shanks. Apoo got more shine against Luffy than Kidd against Shanks. Drake got more respect in canon than Kidd got. Bonney got more respect by getting fleshed out in the manga while Kidd is getting SBS backstory. Urouge even got more off screen respect than Kidd did. This confirms Oda never fucked with Kidd. That whole chapter was sick.

Oda does like kid Kidd and Law are the two most focused supernovas in the series. ODA had kidd lose to Shanks he could of chooses anyone but it had to be kidd mind you kidd is not weak by any means. Which is why shanks ended him quickly . Law faith will be similar, after even Rayleigh or Boa Hancock couldn't best him.

@@truffle6082 Law got focus. Kidd got as much focus on Wano as Drake, Apoo, and Hawkins. Bege got more focus than Kidd. Hell, I though Bege was going to be a permanent ally he got so much fleshing out. Kidd did nothing impressive on the roof. Two things can be true. Oda fools with Shanks and he could have given up on trying to do anything with Kidd. Watch that KOL & Brago collab video. They pretty much agree with everything I said.

@@obi3924 I read the arc. You clearly didn't though. Because if you had read the arc you would've noticed that Kidd was set up to be a major player but was sidelined at every turn. He was set up to be a rival to Luffy in Udon prison but didn't take part in any of the fighting. Hyogoro saw more action than him. If Oda had any plans for Kidd he would've took part in the mini training arc to learn Ryou. We didn't see Kidd again until the night of the raid and he was still shoehorned into that. Kidd on the rooftop had less impressive feats than his subordinate Killer. And even in the fight against Big Mom Kidd and Law weren't so much impressive but that Oda nerfed Big Mom so they could get the W. Just because you love you some red head zaddies doesn't mean we have to rewrite history.

I initially felt that Kid was bullied in this chapter but the way it was portrayed just gave us unfiltered Shanks Hype... Even top tiers must be cautious against Shanks. Indirectly BB and Mihawk stocks are up.

The saddest thing is that his devil fruit is *actually* cool in concept, Oda just seems to write him as a total dumbass. Imagine someone with high IQ or Battle IQ having it, such as Law and Luffy respectively. We could have seen so many cool magnetism powers. And Oda could have made him look cool if he Solo'd a Pacifista at Sabaody because its a cyborg and he could immobilise it to hit it with massive attacks. PUNK Armor - encased in armor and uses magnetism on it to fly, move at high speed, and make his strikes harder and faster. PUNK Barrier - a second layer of armor with an air gap, the gap has a strong magnetic field that holds it in place but repels it if gets closer like a spring. Absorbs blows so that some don't ever make contact with him. PUNK Tracks - train tracks or an multiple archways that is magnetised in chunks to accelerate any metal that passes through it, including himself in Armor or enemies that have been Assigned. PUNK Pacemaker - by eating a high iron diet, he can control the iron in his blood cells and muscles, setting up a magnetic field to make them pump faster - his own Gear 2nd. PUNK Desert - he carries a giant gourd of Iron Sand and can control it like Gaara to defend and attack. Etc. But unfortunately he has no Plot Armor of Main Character Privilege.
