Great update. Few information for you. If a cold freeze comes, not only drain water but both ends of the water pump Must be disconnected to let water in the pump drain. If you don’t, pump will crack and when you first turn on pump alway check for leaks. Second: Strobe light is good. There is an herb that works well also. Because you camp in wilderness, you should mice proof your interior. All vehicles have a huge hole for mice to enter. It’s the AC outside vent hole. In modern vehicles it has no use. Plug it up. If you don’t they will enter and live in your dash. One day you turn on the fan and catch one in the cage and the fan will sound horrible. You just killed a mouse. Now you have to get it out. But worse part is mice will eat wiring in your dash. Hope this helped. When you are in Flagstaff again there is an amazing Indian restaurant name Delhi Palace. Great all you can eat lunch. You will love it. Lastly before next winter if you want a diesel heater installed, come visit. (PriusLife Nomads Off Grid Community)

@ 1:59 You can also buy peppermint oil or dilute some peppermint extract with water in a spray bottle from the $ Tree to spray on the engine to prevent rats and mice. However, if your fuse box is located under the hood, make sure it is properly covered. You don't want to spray those. Anything else would be just fine. Mice and rats don't like peppermint. Consider this as regular part of maintenance like cleaning windows or washing the van. Also, if you are gong to stay stationary for an extended time you can always prop your hood open. Rodents view engine compartments as a shelter. It's warm, dry and safe. They can EASILY build a nest. They do this with outdoor BBQ grills left outside and covered.

I love the video from the Grand Canyon. Sometimes you get the best pictures when you do something crazy, like drive in the dark and hike in the freezing cold to see a sunrise.

Nice crystal find. My best finds are in the clay. The crystals will run in a vein standing vertically on a crumbling base of quartz in the clay. Sometimes the clay will turn from red to tan, yellowish gray where the quartz crystal vein runs through the red clay. If you find a cluster of crystals attached to a base, dig around for the vein.

Maddie, I had the same problem about 12 years ago when I moved to Southern New Mexico with rabbit's and other little critter's climbing up into my engine compartment to keep warm on my 2009 Ford SportTrac. The first suggestion was to put color blinking lights (LED) in the engine compartment to scare off the critters. My VET confirmed this will do nothing to scare off unwanted friends...:) The second suggestion was to spray all the wiring with rodent poison! Yikes! I'm not good with that idea at all. The third suggestion has worked for over 12 year and didn't kill any of our furry friends. Simply collect some of your urine in a spray bottle and have at it on your wiring...:) Simple and natural deterrent, Give it a try...:)

Fun! I used to do that in Maine. All the pine forests are great for lots of quartz varieties. I’ve found beryl, garnet, tourmalines, & amethyst. The beryl is really soft. So hard to get out without cracking it, because it’s usually found embedded in granite. So is garnet, but it’s hardier. I’ve managed to get whole garnet crystals out of granite, but never beryl. I always cracked it. After 4 or 5 really valuable crystals got ruined, I stopped trying for them. Better to let someone else have them, than bust them up. The streams there have lots of Jasper varieties too. They are so pretty too! There’s rock shops in every county in Maine it seems. This video brought back lots of fun memories. Thanks for sharing! And so glad you got you van back!! Happy journeys!

Of course I came to your channel a year late. I found it through Mariah Alice's channel and much as I did with her channel, am watching yours in order of which you post it. I am certainly glad you got your van back. But my goodness I wish you had some kind of heater in your van! But certainly I'm happy you don't subject yourself, Eliza and the plants to such cold and care for all of you by stating in a heated house. The Grand Canyon is always incredible but the sunrise pictures you take of it are unique because they have a real eyewitness aspect to it not doctored by photo enhancement and thus the experience becomes your own too. You say Sarah has a channel too? Might be good to watch it. So nice to see people get involved in experiencing life rather than being cogs in the wheels of the rat race, looking for crystals and just being in the moment. People like you and Sarah have much to teach people and maybe that purple crystal symbolizes this. The whole crystal episode is amazing from start to finish. That's what it's all about. Discovering self and life not being slaves to the Combine or the Machine. 12:40. Just how about that line of saguaros on the hilltop? Eh? That's iconic!

Congrats on getting your van/home back. Don't give up on cold snowy days, sooo nice to be outside during a snow while the flakes float down around you, so peaceful. You should think of wrapping your pipes with pipe insulation, it really works. Install a diesel heater and run it low enough for the plants and pipes, worth every penny. Last bit of advise, I bought a heated vest that's powered by a usb battery pack, wear it under your coat and you're all set, not cold anymore, watch all those sun rises warm. Take care and stay safe.

I have done this myself, and found them by a super big WOOPS! A Hole area full of Quartz.. First I would like to apologize for my initial comment a few videos back, if you took it the wrong way? Anyways yet another awesome video and I had no idea you can just dig up crystals like that!! Thats so amazing!! Those Rid A Rats work great!! I lived in a house for 12 years which I just sold and moved out of about 8 months ago and the rats from the surrounding area kept chewing up my vehicle wires and I installed one of those devices. It seriously stopped the rats like overnight BUT eventually they chewed the wire to the Rid A Rat and then setup shop in the other side of the engine bay. I know those things are expensive but I would definitely recommend buying a second one and have one on each side of the engine bay just in case one unit fails. I just posted a video with me heading to Quartzsite, AZ to get away from that winter storm!! I didn't really mention it in the video but the first few seconds of the video shows me heading south away from those dark winter clouds haha.

Once I drive over the bridge, I do not have that daily loving healthy enchantment of the healthy mighty Atlantic Ocean to unite with...because I crossed the bridge...gone. Something that I have found that works to keep mice and rats out of your vehicle engine compartment, is spray it with cheap perfume. The kind you would get at Walgreens! As a woman, I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. Rodents are very sensitive to smell, that’s how they get around. They don’t like the smell of cheap perfume anymore than you do. Spraying this in my engine compartment has kept them out for the last five years. It’s a very cheap and effective alternative to everything else. Do it at least once a month when your boon docking.

When I lived in Arkansas I lived on this huge hill that I think used to be a trash hill. ( I am still unsure of this but had lots of glass all in the ground) I could never let me kids outside in that house because of the glass in the ground. Back to the point though, There were Crystal all in the ground everywhere also, we used to go exploring and always collected what we found, but never dug for any myself. I did wrap one very cool one i found in hemp cord and hung it in my car on my mirror, and was thinking that you should do something like that with the purple one you found.
