I saw Heart in 2010, and they blew the place up. Nancy was on fire. As she was playing these complicated licks, she suddenly flew through the air like Jordan, then landed like a ballerina - never missing a note. I couldn't play 1% of what she did, sitting in a comfy chair. The level of musicianship and theatrics was a master class in 'how it's done'. Every interview I've seen with Nancy has left me more impressed. She's truly a class-act... :)

Nancy is a fantastic mandolin player as well! I met her when I was a young guy through my uncle Bob who played with Fleetwood Mac. It was back in the mid 80's at a backyard cookout with another guy named Trevor Rabin. She played the Battle of evermore on the mandolin and showed me the difference in how to tune one. I was just becoming a teen, sitting close enough to feel her breath on me as she was explaining it...and I super crushed hard on her😂. From that day on, I kinda resented her sister,Ann who literally forced Nancy into her shadow...for years. And wasted some her her little sister's potential in my opinion. Especially in the 80's when their physical appearance reversed roles,and Nancy started to outshine her...Ann slammed on the brakes,fast! Using it to sell records was fine when Ann was in the spotlight,but a big no no, when she had to take a step back. The hypocrisy was obvious,and there for the whole world to see. Little wonder they don't even speak anymore

I saw her in Dallas when they were recording an album and/or video there in 1985. Her car was a small red Porsche or something similar, top down convertible, with NANCYW on the back plate. We were on the way to work one morning and I saw the car, saw the plate, and recognized her when we got up beside her...and she knew. She smiled and waved. Her hair was much redder than I thought but that year in videos that`s how her hair looked. But it was 100% her and she knew I recognized her. I was starstruck because I was in love with her years before! But I thought she was blonde.

She is still a stunningly beautiful woman, especially so at her age now. And truly gifted and accomplished as a musician and an artist. Her playing is articulate, skilled and beautiful. Didn't realize she was so tiny till I read her height here. Saw her/Heart 1st time, took a date to a show supporting the 85' Heart release. She was bad to the bone. It's easier being "cool/attractive" when you're young, for any of us. But to stand out like her now at 70 is truly extremely rare. Would love to see her in a small venue on her own, on my bucket list. As amazing as Ann's voice is/was, Nancy is a force on her own and could have fronted her own band easily, rather than be mostly in Ann's shadow most of her professional life, 50!!! years now for them. But glad they ended fences enough to get back together.
@michaelyork45546 ай бұрын
I watched an interview with Ann, and Nancy, and when Ann asked if Nancy could join the band they made Her audition, I was a bit shocked to hear that they asked Her to play "The Clap" by Steve Howe. That's a difficult song, obviously She nailed it. That's a beautiful Ovation, I thought you would play the intro part to "Crazy On You". I saw Heart in '79 at the Day Of Rock and Roll.

Being a big Nancy Wilson fan myself, it was fun to hear your story. Thanks for sharing it with us, and yeah, her/YOUR guitar sounds great! After first hearing Heart on the radio in the 1970's, and then starting to collect their albums, it was easy for a young teen boy, like I was, to form a crush on Nancy Wilson. She's still one of my favorite guitar players, and her personal story and journey to becoming a rock legend is a fascinating one to hear her tell in her own words.

It does sound amazing though through its entire range. very well balanced

That riff is interestingly similar to Width of a Circle by David Bowie, opening track of the The Man Who Sold The World album, a song most famous for Mick Ronson's mindblowing guitarwork on the Ziggy Stardust live shows in '72/'73. Check it out and you'll hear what I mean, and knowing Heart were fans of Bowie it could very well have been directly inspired. No Jimmy Plage ripoff, but building on the same motif.
