This video makes me glad I've never played in a cover band on drums or guitar 😄

Hey ive just got back into the guitar, and your exercises have already improved my standing play so much in a few weeks. Thanks dude

thats too much effort to put into a song for the lousy pay they they give us at the bars, thats the real reason NOBODYPLAYS THE REAL BEAT!
@TheArtofGuitar20 сағат бұрын
You don’t do it for pay, you do it for the song and the art. :)

Why dont you try using finger picks like a lot of banjo players use.

Some respectful reasons you probably "enjoy" this song. 1. Arrangements 9. Secrets 3. Anticipation 1. You were born. 9. Vicariousness, silently imagining how cool that would be to be you, but me....I AM I. Where is my weed wacker...DAMN IT. I'm OK. The staff disagree, "Don't mow the lawn in the rain." wAs the last thing I remember. I'm am not a robot. 19. Crazy fast, flippin' pfone fingers.

Watch the final rooftop jam. They were the tightest band. Polished and relaxed.

Phil’s hi-hat groove is so legendary. How he accents the downbeat, then backs WAY off the upbeat in both volume and tempo, makes the rhythm section swing like a 40’s big band tune.

Jeff Pocaro spoke of the difficulty of his one-handed 16ths. He said you basically have to just power through it until you build stamina with it. But this shuffle-like beat with the ghosted snares on the E, that's a whole nother paint job of difficulty. Great stuff, man!

You could buy a boss stereo chorus and play through 2 (affordable) amps as well.

Having played in several bar bands etc this song was a staple. One band I was in used it for the dollar dance at weddings. The guitar player would always time how long we played it for the dollar dance. I believe the record was 32 minutes. The bass player and I would change up the beat during lead breaks out of boredom to reggae or what ever came to mind during the song.

We used to play it straight until they got on the dancefloor and then we'd rock it out...I hated this fricken' song...lol. But...that said it's not about what you want to play as a cover band it's about what works in the environment.

You can totally play that whole thing without funky Travis picking techniques btw, you just have to leave out one or two notes. Your solution was nearly perfect.

Best Heart song ever. She rocks on the acoustic guitar, her stuff is hard.

Improves the song a lot when done correctly.

The song is deceptive and from my experience, to make it easier to count. I count it in 4/4 time but half the speed as you have counted it. Counting 1&2&3&4&... having the snare on 2 and 4. Instead of 1234 with the snare on 3. And with the high hat intricacies, or blues shuffle 1&a2&a3&a4&a along with the little flourishes. Actually fun song to play but gets over played alot.

One of my favorites is Walk All Over You. Great drumming in that song, not super simple either (compared to other AC/DC tracks)

Nancy can out guitar anyone with her acoustic guitar skills. She has some amazing guitar chops. I’m trying to remember the song. Crazy on You her guitar skills were on full display. Ann’s voice and her guitar and backup on vocals, perfection. People didn’t believe girls could rock on the guitar. Heart was so good and cool! Radio was not our choice. I got 16 too. For band and fans of the bands. It’s Nancy on the guitar.

I still think the Beetles are/were overrated. However, I can say that some things are just weird in music. If you were to ask YoYo Ma to play swing he'd probably struggle. Getting into the groove of some of things just takes time. Having said that, Ringo must've had some serious conditioning to be able to play multiple songs like that and keep beat the entire time. Personally, I've struggled with blues. Somehow trying to play something slow and with more rests is somehow harder. Don't ask me why.

Jamie Oldaker was the drummer. He was part of the Tulsa crew. Played with Bob Seger, Leon Russell, and a few dozen more hits

First song after tuning is the old school car door ajar alarm 😂 interesting thing your exercise is similar to my dad's teaching he started me on 0,1,2,3,4 on the 6th string over and over then double picking then when I could do that on all six strings he switched it up to the E' boogy woogy

Ha, multi instrumentalist here who started on drums and a funny thing about that song -- yes, most people play it incorrectly. It's very specific. But I always felt the recorded drum part was a bit clumsy -- like he was trying to play an "exercise pattern." It kinda clashes with the feel. I like when a song has a pattern that is an intrinsic part of the song. Ringo was a master at that. How many people play Ringo parts wrong?!

That's a lot of work for your right hand. I play exactly as recorded using my left and right hands on the hats. Play the snare with the right hand.

Scaring off middle aged men with Korn while reaching that age and still loving Korn. Epic! (not dissing btw I went through a similar situation in the 90s)
