I remember watching season 3, I think, of 24 with Kiefer Sutherland. They had this hacker kid that could take a sample of a person voice and manipulate it to say whatever he wanted. This was 10 plus years ago, but I now realize it was probably even possible way before then. But I sat there watching saying “oh great, we will never be able to truly trust anyone ever again”. I keep my circle small, not because I fear progress, but more so that I fear the evil that people have no problem with these days. When people have no fear, and no punishment, that’s when we all have to come together. The only way to fight lawlessness is with lawlessness. Survival of the fittest.

As an artist, and have a LOT of artist friends, I hear and feel the pressure that people won't commission us anymore...why would they? When they can just enter a prompt into an AI art program and get whatever they want and not have to pay for it? I've heard of artists literally getting let go, because companies are doing that more and more...but they'll keep one or two graphic artists on site, because AI art isn't perfect, so it'll be those graphic artists' jobs to "correct" AI art...which really doesn't sound that great. I've also heard that Bruce Willis has made it clear that Hollywood can use his image and imitate his voice so he can continue being in movies, despite the illness he has now (a form of dimensia), where as of lately, he's now unable to speak verbally, which is pretty sad :( His image and voice will continue on in movies, though, and he seemed to be Ok with it, so...I guess there will always be a Bruce Willis movie in the future, even after he's long gone. I've also heard of malicious people imitating people's voices, to phone their loved ones and scam them out of money, saying to the loved one "Mom! I'm in jail, can you send me $X amount of dollars to bail me out?!" and since it sounds like that person, the loved one will comply....when in reality, it wasn't that person, but someone using AI to imitate the voice, and scam people. It's pretty sad. I'll admit though, I *have* used ChatGPT before, just for the fun of it, to see if it could give me some art prompts and ideas for me to draw. Stuff like that, I don't see any harm in, because I'm just asking an AI to generate possible ideas that I could draw. It's great for whenever I have an art block and I just can't seem to think of anything, or if I have a drawing idea but have no idea where to start, something like that is pretty handy.

I totally agree with your comments about people turning off AI generated stuff. I've seen a few music videos which are AI Beatles, for example. I commented that it wasn't the Beatles, it was AI making something that sounded like the Beatles. So, you can't say, this song is a Beatles song, no its not, it's an AI song that sounds like a Beatles song. In the film industry, they have already started doing what you said about actors being scanned, and so the actor you see isn't really the actor. You might be surprised that some politicians and other people in influential positions, have had the same thing done to them, (or an actor is wearing a very good latex mask of that person and passing themselves off as the real person.

the first drum computers we had were not very popular because they sounded unnaturally straight, human drummers (even the best) have some tiny inconsistencies in their playing, and so studios still hired real drummers instead of using drum machines, by now - drum computers are programmed to have the same natural inconsistencies that a human drummer has, you can't hear the difference anymore, whats so scary about that is the fact that computers can be programmed to have the same natural imperfection that humans have, that can also happen to voice ai, story ai, face ai, and so on.... creepy

As someone who works in the field of AI research/development and automation; I am both excited and worried about the future of AI due to the ways it can be utilized. Personally I feel that any decision that involves a living being should always remain in the hands of a human being. And AI should be used as a tool to support the decisionmaking process, but not make fully autonomous decisions (think autonomous weapon systems, law enforcement, diagnosing disease or ailments). Furthermore; due to the blackbox/transformative nature of the neural network of a trained model, it is actually extremely difficult if not downright impossible to research the reasoning behind certain decisions or choices it makes, and as such can lead to unpredictable behaviours; this can result in disastrous consequences as well, things we've seen on a smaller scale before. TL;DR: AI is extremely useful and can be used for a lot of good if utilized properly, but it's equally worrisome that we're progressing it's development faster than we can come up with restrictions to ensure safety.

I’ll use music history as an example of your point as well. When people were able to make music on a software, they thought the cleanest, pure sounds with no noise will be ideal. And it turned out noise and imperfections are what really made music and sounds, in general, great. It is likely to happen to AI as well, because history always repeats itself in a different form.

AI is only as good as it's told to be. Regulation are beginning to take hold, to make sure it does not get into the wrong hands, or misused programming of say Chat-GPT, Bard and other proprietary AI systems. I've used it before and use an AI command to take the pauses out of my videos, as I have never been a good talker, so rather shorten my videos down. Done a video today 51 minutes in length, got it down to half hour, because of all the silences. It still makes sense without the silences. The tool is called auto-editor. Available on all platforms. The command line version is free, the GUI version is paid only.

I think in the future we will be Abel to stream a movie and through A.I and deppfajke we will be able to choose which actors we want to play the roles, for example we could have Stallone as the terminator instead of Ernie, and we would probably have to pay to put your favourite actors into your library so that you can use them in movies you want to watch. I really wish I knew how to do this as I would be on it straight away and make a fortune out of it!! Also, something else to think about is, if the technology that we are now all seeing coming to light, just what level of technology is there behind hidden doors being developed, I reckon whatever it is we won't get to see it for another 5 years or so, and when we do, there will be other more advanced stuff we won't yet know about. It' a scary thought when you really sit and think about it.

I am a high school teacher and we are getting pressure to use AI in schools to generate programs and resources for students even to the point of some groups wanting us to write comments on student report cards using it. There are many in the education field worried about teachers ultimately being replaced by AI programs. As a result I find AI both fascinating and Scary as shit. Our bosses are literally telling us use it, learn it and get ahead of it before someone can make a case for replacing you with it.

A good example of using AI for videos and content is an AI Vtuber named Neuro Sama and her creator Vedel, just like any other content creator she talks with her chat, can sing, and actually plays video games, a lot of her streams and videos she collaborates with other Vtubers and with her creator who's Vtuber form is a turtle that sits on her head, now that is a credit to her creator who did a lot of work to make her, but the guy that made the Instagram model, well anybody can do that, it takes no talent, I find that kind of use of AI kind of lazy with no work, and then their working for their own creation getting brand deals, but there's no heart in it, but with Neuro, there is heart, cause her creator raised her and trained her, and she's not a perfect streamer, she even got suspended once cause she said something wrong on Twitch, as for music, there are a bunch of AI singer covers including Frank Sinatra singing modern songs, and a good example of a positive use of AI, The Elvis Archival Preservation Society recently used Elvis AI to finish a song that Elvis never got to finish because he died while making it, It's called Poor Man's Gold, and it's a beautiful song, the making of these AI covers does take some musical mixing skills as does most music production, but there is a music AI that is on a whole other level, it's called Suno AI, and it can make different genres of song complete with the vocals and all, you type in a prompt like A pop song about birds and it will make 2 short versions of a song about birds with full context about birds and what birds do, they would probably fly and sing cause the AI seems to focus on musical aspects sometimes, and it does different languages also, you could type the prompt A Spanish mariachi song about Un Gato Bonito and, not kidding, the AI makes 2 festive fairly authentic sounding mariachi songs about a beautiful cat, with the whole song sung in Spanish with appropriate instrument sounds complete with a song intro and a musical break or instrument solo later in the song, I use that AI to listen to songs in the genre I want to hear, that I could never hear anywhere else, really it's mind blowing and practically feels like something magical.

Actually, there is something like an identifying code in a video, it's the metadata, and people that are knowledgeable about finding and reading the metadata can find the source and find out if it's different than the current version, so, it is something like a fingerprint for a video.

Your idea about digital fingerprints for videos in interesting. But that wasn't what NFTs are. The reason they are no longer mentioned is because they didn't give ownership of the picture or video. A lawyer used an analogy - imagine you go shopping, pay for your goods and the machine spits out a receipt. Then you put the receipt up for sale on eBay or wherever and someone buys it. The buyer owns the receipt, not the shopping the receipt is for. Once people realised this NFTs vanished from sight. AI video editing is scary. There was a Schwarzenegger film from ages ago ("The Running Man" I think) where his character in the film was edited to look like a mass murderer, when he was actually trying to save people. And the technology to do that for real is here, now.

I don't think we'll lose actors, singers, artists etc. Like with that Freddy Mercury thing, while the AI can capture some tonal quality and vocal tics, it didn't capture the raw emotional intensity of his voice. It was flat and technical. Think about how you feel when you're listening to a perfect, technical singer compared to a singer who really gives over to the music and performs the shit out of it. Emotionally, we connect more to the second one, even if they're technically less skilled or they're a bit drunk and they miss a note or two. There's an element of honing an instrument or craft that artists and performers don't want to lose, that's why they don't want to be replaced with AI. It shouldn't always be about the easy life.

I think like all big changes in our society (Internet, Social Media, Smartphones) They always start off with good intentions and they have all changed the world in a fundamental way. Sadly when greed and exploitation comes in and poisons all the water, we've been drinking from the well for a long time and slowly getting poisoned without knowing it. We have all been using AI for years, but we're not aware of it. Every search you make online, your social media feeds, your smart devices all have AI tailoring your experience. There have been tests done where two different people with two different backgrounds or demographics, search for the exact same things in google, and they will see different results to each other. Some people will be shocked by it and others will embrace it. I use AI at work as an assistant. I don't want it to do my job for me, but help enhance, educate, and elevate my skills.
