As an RN and nursing instructor, skills and knowledge level are what I want to observe. Some people are lucky enough to be able to read and retain everything, while others are just as smart but struggle with testing. I've seen "straight A" students not become nurses because they struggled at bedside. I've seen "C" students be the best nurse possible. The ultimate goal is confident, competent, safe nursing.

All the people I know who made straight As deserve them, it’s not easy!! A lot of hard work!! A classmate of mine had her second baby, got pregnant with her third, is an army vet, worked as a tech and made As. She was a beast

I understand sometimes isn't about the grade but if a person wasn't a A student in high school but then they are in college or RN school, it is okay to recognize that achievements. It's not to throw it in anyones face... It's more about self congratulations 🎉 especially when a person has serious life struggles.

Getting all A's is just a personal academic challenge for me, I'm not smarter than the next. Besides, it is also important just in case I switch careers; I want a strong GPA moving forward.

The A nurse will be the one to kill you in the real nursing world. Grades don't mean anything in the real world. It helps you pass but not when you're actually working with doctors and other nurses and real patients

I almost didn’t make it out of maternity In Massachusetts LPNs still take maternity. My god was that close! As a male nurse with no kids I had no idea. Hopefully they dropped this requirement and maybe replaced it with psych or something. As LPNs are much much more likely to work in Psych than maternity.

Well, there is a direct correlation between those who excel in nursing or college and their career advancement. So, if you are an 'A' student, the likelihood of you reaching the top of the career ladder is high compared to those who barely pass. This is based on research conducted by Duke University...so on average "B" and "C" students will work for "A" student...

@@michelecurtis887 That depends, i've had straight A nurses who 'knew all' and also had straight F's in listening/comforting patiënts. Especially as a Psychiatry Nurse, being able to listen to people and comfort them can mean the difference between a mental crisis or not for some patiënts. Straight A's are often overrated, I rather wish they'd looked at the total package. Because some B nurses are often way better in the field then those that are A's on paper.
