In my area you can definitely live comfortably as a RN even LPN but you won't be "rich". However, if you hate nursing and do it only for money you will be unhappy.
@NurseMaddyW6 ай бұрын
Exactly! I was super shocked at the number of students I've precepted recently who are coming in for the money or have that perception.

@NurseMaddyW I mean I get it, people want a solid income but if you can't put up with people's bs nursing will be a miserable life.

my reasons why consider nursing: - would like to have a job that give me greater purpose.. that I do something important like helping others.. money only wont be good motivator - job security.. I could move to other country and no worries about unemployment as long as study about the culture and languages - good money - work schedule sound kinda cool.. a lot free time for my personal projects ( indie game development ) things what I am concerned.. - a lot responsibility.. literally person`s life can be on your hands and it sounds a bit scary 😂 - all the bad experiences what I heard from nurses who left.. violence.. bad organizing and it shows how stressed nurses are , toxic work environment

You can definitely go to nursing school if you want to make lots of money. Just know it’s a lot a of work and you may have to move to a new city.

Thank you for adding this! I hope I was able to partially explain this. I think I was surprised in my first year as a new graduate at how many of my peers complained about their pay.

I’m going to school now to be a medical assistant and after that it’s nursing school for me.

also if you don't want to actually do work, don't go to nursing school. taking care of people requires work.

Thank you for sharing this realistic advice! I have been working in product design but want to switch to nursing because I love caring for people but I’m nervous because I wasn’t like a straight a student when I was in school but I am a natural caretaker and just feel like it makes the most sense for me. But I do have a learning disability (ADHD) and I do have MDD and GAD so I’m wondering if this might be out of my scope. My continued learning though I’ve been pretty good at learning difficult things recently
@NurseMaddyW2 ай бұрын
@@DiscoWitchBarbie never hurts to try it out! There are a lot of community colleges that offer prerequisite courses for nursing that don’t break the bank. If you can make it through anatomy, micro, and chem then you’re on the right track! I never want to discourage people from nursing but also help them see the realistic side. I work with people who have the same learning disabilities, and I personally suffer from anxiety. Those things won’t stop you as long as you’re persistent! :) you also don’t have to be straight A. You just have to care about people and be ready to put in extra effort, especially in finding additional learning resources. And you’ll do great! ❤️

The money is good if you say it cost 30k to be nirse and make 60k to start compared to other degrees
@NurseMaddyW10 ай бұрын
It definitely cost more than 30k to be a nurse. But that’s not including if someone were to have scholarship, take community college prerequisites, etc. So it’ll depend on how the person financially prepares. I’ve been a nurse for 3x years and I still don’t make 60k 😅 there’s still a lot of people who think we make more than we do. Of course it depends on your state, but…yeah. Certainly not complaining about how much I make. But I watched a lot of people drop out in school or quit after one year of nursing or even left to travel after a year because they were upset with the pay.
@thetruthsayer834710 ай бұрын
It cost me 4k a semester. It takes 4 semesters to complete the degree. 16k total.

Wow $60k isn’t a lot in my opinion especially for the work that they do. I make that and I work on the business side of healthcare from home as a revenue cycle analyst

All of these points are not particular to nursing they are just jobs in general
@NurseMaddyW10 ай бұрын
Not sure everyone has to study 14-20hrs per week for their job in school 😅 I agree some points could be related to other jobs. I didn’t mention the point that not everyone has to handle needles and body fluids, but that’s a big separator. Hopefully people have already considered that aspect though.
