Got mine today for 239.00, no tax right from redcat, it came with the improved shocks installed, shock ends are threaded so they listened and changed them, esc works fine, diffs just had light layer of oil, I put some silicone grease on them in put was surprised with the light layer of oil on them. I would say it is a bunch of screws to to take off but surprisingly I was able to get diff out and back in after greasing in about 20 minutes.

Underfilled differentials is probably one of the most common issues with RTR vehicles. I suspect they don't put a lot of oil in them so that it doesn't leak out during pressure changes in shipping

I’m really shocked that the servo was under performing. I’ve never had an issue with stock redcat servos in terms of power. I have broken gears after a while but always felt the performance was fine, and I like fast servos.
@DoRC5 ай бұрын
Maybe it was just my specific servo but it definitely was sluggish to the point of negatively affecting my driving.

@@DoRC apparently KZbin removes comments with links. If you go to redcats website and find that servo, you’ll see if goes up to 8.4v and apparently runs at 0.12s and 42kg at that voltage. Might be worth trying before writing it off. Though I have no idea of redcats receivers go that high
@DoRC5 ай бұрын
@@dylanwhite6539 after doing a bit more work on it it seems like the main problem is that the rack gets jammed up with grit and puts a lot of load on everything. I am trying a better servo now but the red cat one might be sufficient assuming the rack is not jammed up.
@XWXW-lk4jf5 ай бұрын
This is my first non-arrma or Traxxas in a while and while I do like it, controlling it is very difficult. It is all over the place, even with the Spectrum Dx5c Pro and 6200AT AVC Receiver in it. I also increased the BEC to 7.4 volts which helped a bit but the wheels tend to wander, especially at higher speeds. Not sure if a better steering servo would help? It was not easy to get that Receiver in there and because the Spektrum one is larger than the stock one, you end up having to mount it flat as opposed to sideways like the stock one is mounted. It could also be that I have been spoiled by the more expensive vechiles like the 6s BigRock and Mojave and am expecting more than is realistic for this price. The Maxx is not great at tracking straight either but the wheels at least don't dance like these are.
@XWXW-lk4jf5 ай бұрын
I fixed the issue. Truck is driving straight as an arrow now. The DX5C Pro bound to the 6200at AVC Receiver makes a massive positive difference. Initially, the fact that the receiver is under the esc and the fact that you have to disconnect the servo-saver threw me off when binding. Also had initially forgot that with the AVC receivers, you have to bind and calibrate twice, back to back, in order to activate the AVC. In addition, the aervo has to be set straight in the middle. It is a process because first you bind, then with the truck still on, you have to re-attach the servo-saver, situate the ESC back into the chasis as it would normally sit, then start the calibration process the same way you do an Arrma vechile. Full throttle then full reverse, then turn the wheel to the right, then to the left and from there it calibrates for the first time. Then you turn it off and repeat that very same process, identical to the first go around with the exception being, before binding, you have to reverse the steering, then start the identical process. After I completed the second bind and calibration, I then screwed the ESC back into the chasis. Now the truck drives awesome. Straight and with much better control. In fact, it drives better than vechiles 4 times as expensive. This is an extremely impressive release from Redcat. Just have to get it set up properly like with all RC's.

Have you had any overheating issues with the motor? As soon as I put the same battery you put, the 4s SMC 6500 150c it shuts off on me within five minutes of run time and the green led light on the esc flashes green. Once it cools off it runs for another couple minutes and shuts off. Just curious if you’ve had this issue as well or have heard of that with others. I contacted them and they were great, said they’d send me a new motor once I get a temp reading. I’ll need to buy a temp gun just sucks because I just got this less than two weeks ago.

That's actually a more complex question than you might think. For a given mass a hollow tube will be stronger because most of the strength comes from the outside of the shape but for a given diameter a solid rod will be stronger simply because it has more material. Unfortunately I don't have any first hand experience with it The only thing I can say is that from what I've seen it definitely has some weak points and I think for the price you could probably do better with other brands even though you might have getting something that's a little bit smaller

@@DoRC thanks for the info Man, cause thats the problem, I been thinking about getting a roller of this cause of the price vs the size, next thing in size of im not mistaken, on trucks, would be the X-MAXx, this zd truck with electronics would be around 800usd here in México, I know the X-MAXx Is "1000" usd but thats the US price, here in México Is around 1500, so almost doble the price, also I like better metal on rc's than plastic, even if its heavier and It beends and maybe brakes more easy, but im also not a hard basher at all, just small jumps, no Skateparks, I also been thinking about maybe a kraton or notorious but those are a bit smaller and the spares are way more expensive, but I can get one of those 2 arrmas for 550usd on eBay, shipped to my house, so Its a great deal cause Its really free shipping, I dont know what to do, in your opinion,what do you think i should do? Maybe another posible option? Any input would be welcome

I gotta think that 90 percent or higher of people who buy this rc vehicle are not taking it apart to lube the diffs, they are just putting a battery in it and running it and we are not hearing bad things about the diffs with that very light layer of oil or whatever light grease they are using, I'm thinking that's kind of impressive that they run like that with no issues.

@DoRC5 ай бұрын
I'm doing that based on my experience with these shocks in the past. This was a big enough problem with the Wov cars that they pushed out an update pretty much as quickly as they could. Quite a few people had the same breakage with the same shocks. There's no reason to believe that It won't also be a problem in this car. I do have some more information on it though so make sure you check out my next video!
@joseCalderon19765 ай бұрын
@@DoRC Yeah, the pressed on shock ends do suck, but you really need to beat them up badly for them to come out. Like a whole bunch of bad landings. Maybe RC comes out with and upgrade in the future for that. But yeah, once those come off, you have to replace the whole shock shaft. At least I had to on my 3s Granite. I put different shocks on it after it happened once. But like I said, it took a while. BUT, that's a much lighter vehicle and a total different animal 😂
@DoRC5 ай бұрын
@@joseCalderon1976 The ones on the granite were a lot tougher and you could just push them back in a couple of times. This particular design can actually break from a pretty gentle landing if it's from the right angle.

All heatsinks should have some sort of thermal compound between it and whatever it's trying to cool. If not, it is below standard. The heatsink might look like it makes good contact but under a microscope, you would see that it hardly touches the motor and it's mostly air gaps that need filling.
@DoRC5 ай бұрын
Yes and no. I've done some experimenting with this in the past and whereas The heat sink compound does definitely improve thermal transfer as you would expect It's usually good enough on these cars that it's not needed and it can be really messy if you ever have to do anything with the heat sink / motor. I prefer to run without.
@PigglyWigglyDeluxe5 ай бұрын
Eh. I think you’re expecting too much from manufacturers. Diminishing returns. Besides, it opens up the opportunity for YOU to add that thermal compound. I’ve never used thermal compound and I’ve never really needed it, and I’m driving in 100+ degree summers
@DoRC5 ай бұрын
@PigglyWigglyDeluxe Yeah I've tried it both ways and it definitely is an improvement but for me it's not enough of an improvement to justify the mess

When i heard JayTeeRC mention that this had a 8kg servo, i just shook my head. 15kg would have been *barely* enough. 8kg is a joke on a 10th scale. That's unfortunate. Same with the shocks. Seems like Redcat wanted to get rid of the rest of WOV's stock of old style shocks, so they threw them in the Valkyrie. Bummer. Shoulda sold them to HBX, but i guess HBX doesn't have 10th scale trucks.
@DoRC5 ай бұрын
It's possible but these shocks are actually a different length different color and red cat doesn't make this car. The same company made the red cat and made the wov racing. It just seems like someone at that company didn't tell redcat about the problem with the shocks.

It's a great truck but really not comparable. This is a lot bigger and has much more power. I like my MT10 but after driving my Valkyrie a few minutes last night they aren't in the same league. This is a Max, 4s Outcast/ Kraton competitor. I can spend a decent amount of money on upgrading this truck before I get to the MSRP of the other trucks in its class. @PigglyWigglyDeluxe I get that. Looking at the design I suspect it's done so that they can have the motor further away from the center differential. The center differential module is pretty big and without that idler the two would interfere with each other.
