Awesome episode Colin!!! 🎉🎉 I am the one that filmed Colin on board the Canadian F50 and for us our main goal with the team is to inspire the next generation. So it was a no brainer when Colin reach out to go on board. We were not gonna pass on this opportunity since this is what Parley is all about. I felt quite inspired watching this even tho NZL won the event 😂 (I am obviously a Canadian Fan) thanks for coming on board Colin, next time we want a tour of Parley 😉

SailGP did not support the decision, but they had to adhere to Port Authority's decision. They lost millions of dollars from the cancelation, and were extremely upset, but for the first time, they had to yield to the city council. Very interesting situation.

When the first Jet broke the sound barrier, speed was key 1 Pilot . But when a sailboat can sail faster than the wind, It takes a team to prove it. When Parlay takes all of us for a ride over 6,000 + viewers get on board. When a pod of dolphins cancel thousands of spectators, 2 mil. in returns & stops the race. As Colin feels all warm & fuzzy inside his dry suit you know it's going to be a great day on Parlay.

Many moons ago (1986) I landed in the sea while flying a hang glider. I landed in deep water but in close enough proximity to the cliff (coast) for the waves to be breaking with a significant swell. The glider goes flat to water with you're under it. Until such time that you can unclip (a carbiner behind you) and get out from under the glider (180 square feet, 34ft wing span) you have no opportunity to breath. With every wave (forward and back) your straps tighten to a painful extent, while wires break and aluminium tubes buckle. You are completely disorientated not knowing up from down. I did this on the 21st of March the coldest the sea is for the entire year, life expectancy 14 minutes. I was wearing my regular cloths, boots, duvet flying suit, helmet, gloves and in a full harness with metal parts, canvas, ropes and cords (a harness I was unable to get out of). People estimate I was under the glider for a full 3 minutes before I emerged. I was rescued by a Royal Navy sea king helicopter. I went unconscious as I was being picked up from hypothermia. How did I survive from an accident that many consider unsurvivable. First most; sheer luck, you could not do this twice. I had read an article about landing in water the month before in a club magazine. At the time I could swim the length of an Olympic sized swimming pool underwater along the bottom (I could not do this now - nothing like). I stayed throughout religiously calm and collected and focused on what I new I had to do. Throughout I rated my chances of survival as zero - I persevered mainly because in a similar accident that killed the pilot some months previous, unkindly some thought he had given up. Because I did not think I was going to survive the ordeal and because I had what seemed an eternity to think, my mind raced away with thoughts from deadly serious to the totally banal. The experience changed me from that day to this. Though I gained from the experience, I would not recommend it. One thing for sure activities with these sorts of risks should not be taken on lightly. Of the glider, the sea king pilot weeks later told me he could see it out lined on the bottom. A fellow pilot visited the site at low tide, but could find no trace of it. It is believed the action of the waves buried it in sand.

@@ParlayRevival It was your training that reminded me. People love the spectacle of these high action sports, but sometimes forget the genuine dangers to those involved, and hence why they took that training so seriously. I know I'm preaching to the converted here. If I had had that opportunity I would have jumped at it as well 🙂 On the subject of drowning, a real fear for many, not so bad surprisingly. On the surface you will just swim until hypothermia takes you and you black out. Underneath you hold your breath for quite impossible periods. Long after your would be coughing and scrabbling for the ladder in a swimming pool you find yourself suddenly becalmed, like a fish you feel like you could hold your breath forever.

Had a goosebump attack just watching this, haha. That must have really been exhilarating! I have been sailing my whole life, and progressed to sail in the strongest winds on a fireball in the Durban harbour. Also had a flying fifteen at the same time going out, and getting caught in a fifty knot wind. Both boats got totalled with the masts snapping that day. I am sure I would have enjoyed that ride also. I was crazy back then, but we never had F50's back then!
