Ah, the memories of when I worked there in the late 70's! Surprised to see it so familiar. I was a painter one year and I see that robots have replaced me. I used to paint the left door inside and out, dashboard, left side of box and left side of tailgate. I had a guy across the booth doing the other side. When I was there, they built GMC and Chevy trucks on one line and Blazers and Sububans on the other. Line speed was usually 62.5 trucks per hour.

It’s very exciting to see your own truck being built I totally understand because I also saw my 2011 GMC 3500 HD turbo diesel Z71 being built . It’s an amazing experience that I will never forget, in fact I love my truck more because of it . I took over 100 pictures and had the chance to talk with the GM workers . Those workers are amazing at Flint Michigan 🇺🇸 USA great team work. By watching your videos I know that the factory line has changed so much since 2011 . The body marriage is so different now and the truck are on a suspension conveyor belts , and they are putting the tires at last stage of the process . Back in 2011 the tires 🛞 were installed right after the frame and motor installation. Many improvements have occurred since then. God bless America 🇺🇸🇨🇦

Picked up my BMW 320d from the factory in Munich about 10 years ago. Part of the deal was a complete guided tour through the factory which showed the exact same technologies as this Chevy factory albeit much cleaner in Munich. Pretty cool to watch. At the end we went and picked up our vehicle after a lengthy orientation in the "showroom". A great experience and we were treated like royalty.

Awesome video. I've spent a lot of time in a GM plant. We originally lived in MA and my dad worked at the Framingham plant. Got transfered to DE to work at the Boxwood plant. Think they were building the Solstice before that one closed down. Now it's an Amazon hub. Anyway, did a few field trips with schools there over the years plus spent time after school waiting for dad to finish for the day. Watching that plant operate in unison with those robots was amazing! Now I'm 40 and my 4th GM truck is 10 days old sitting outside this same Michigan plant. 24' Sierra 3500 crew cab long bed gas at4! Ever since my first truck, my 04 Colorado, I've wanted a HD beast. Now I actually need it for work and it's a reality. I have had great luck with each truck. The truck my new one is replacing is a 2015 max tow 1500 sierra with 282k on it now. Still looks new. I've got almost 700,000 miles out of the previous 3. Looking forward to another 250k out of this one! Can't wait

I was skimming through the comments ( watched the video when it first came out as well ) as I have put an order in for a 2025 Chev HD 3500 standard bed with the L8T and that is why your comment stood out. I am curious how its been working out for you so far, over all truck wise mechanically as well as thoughts on the engine and mpg. Unfortunately I have been hearing about transmission issues with the 10 speed in the diesels since they have been out a lot longer then the 10 speed introduction into the gas in 2024.

Thanks for the video! Always nice to see the assembly line videos. Just bought a 2024 3500HD LTZ DRW. Traded my 2020 2500HD LTZ SRW. I went with the 3500 DRW this time to meet my cargo needs while towing my camper, car trailer, dump trailer, etc. loved my 2500. Miss it already. Here’s my feedback on my new truck. Pro’s: Increased horse power and torque. Con’s: 1. No Owner’s Manual comes with the truck. Dealers will tell you they are available to download. The last thing I want to do is look a manual on my phone and hope when I need to I have cell service. What a fail on Chevrolets part. For $83K I shouldn’t have to pay $80 for an owner’s manual. 2. The cigarette lighter sockets are gone. I use those to power different monitors for my camper/trailers that are brand new and require cigarette lighter socket. Now I have to buy an adapter. 3. The rear door handle locks are gone. I miss them. It was a nice convenience. 4. Trim under infotainment center is designed so the angle catches the sun and glares right in the driver’s eye. Another Chevrolet fail. 5. No 110VAC outlet on the dash or in the rear of the console. It moved inside the center console. A really bad idea. Now anything like a power supply that gets plugged in and is inside an area traps the heat. 6. Oil filter is still at a 45-degree angle instead of vertical. You can only partially pre fill the oil filter after an oil change and thus you have a “dry” start with zero oil pressure for a few seconds. 7. Still no external oil filter on the transmission. 8. Infotainment system no longer has a tuning knob. Forces you to swipe the system to get to a tuner. 9. The new wireless phone charger is finicky. Worked well in my 2020 model. 10. the vented seats come on by them selves and shut off by the selves. I'd prefer me manually turning them on. Like I do every time they shut off. It's hot down here on the gulf coast. Didn’t want a sunroof or transformer tailgate. A sunroof wouldn’t have stopped me for buying one if it was on the lot but a multiplex tailgate would have. I'm hearing the transformer tailgate will inadvertently open on its own and will hit the bumper causing a dent in the tailgate. the dealer said they recommend locking out the feature before driving. Honestly, I would have preferred the gen 2 L5P Duramax in my old truck and just kept it. Would have been a lot cheaper. But I do like my new truck. I just wish the engineers would take some input from people who actually use a truck as a truck and not design them in a vacuum.

I had watched this video back when it came out and decided to watch it again all these months later as I had recently put an order in for a 2025 HD 3500 although with the gas due to all the crap emissions on the diesel which I can see giving a lot of expensive grief after the warranty is past ( the emissions systems do not like cold weather in northern Canada unless the engine is worked hard ). I expect to not like the electronics and as of yet its all way over my head as I have never operated one with all the crap they put in every brand of new vehicle these days. And getting to that lack of a 12 volt dc outlet, that is so idiotic that they assumed no one uses them anymore. So my question to you is, what viable solution have you come up with to power your 12 volt devices ?

I use to live in San Antonio a decade ago, and we took a bunch of Boy Scouts to the Tundra plant and we all got to watch Toyota assemble several Toyota Tundras. To this day it is still one of the coolest things that I have ever seen. Because of that tour and seeing the quality in person is why a few years later I bought a Tundra and still drive it to this day. Congrats on your truck!

My 2015 2500 HD was built in that plant. 136000 miles and it's been perfect. Runs and drives like a dream, 6.0 litre gas. Mine is red also, I think that year called it ruby red metallic. I love it. It's a Chevy also.

Glad that factory built your truck perfect. My black 2024 LTZ had some errors the workers missed. A dust nib in the paint on back driver passenger door. Noticed it a week after owning it, went to several body shops and they said they could try to wet sand or repaint but I chose neither of those two options. Small dent on front passenger rockers, luckily the paint wasn’t cracked or chipped. Front driver seat floor trim not lined up properly. Inexcusable for $75,000 truck. Already looking forward to getting a new one in two years. Pretty upsetting that I’ll have to be on the lookout for errors that shouldn’t be there from the get go.

Always a ford guy to but my wife's ford needed an engine before the first oil change and ford gave us a short block so now not numbers matching even though she never had anything else!!!but ford and same dealer would NoT give us another new one .so now i have a 23 GMC Sierra that we ordered got to pick color and lots of stuff and my wife has a 24 buick encore thats right the ford girl and guy in General motors products now boy no comparison appointment for service no run around !!!!! Ours are bolth red ones 👍

Hope they check the transfer case out real good, mine acts up periodically and I was stuck a couple times, forcing it to stay in four-wheel-drive, because it wouldn’t come out of four-wheel-drive until I tricked the system. 12:29 FYI: it doesn’t like cold weather or water so if you’re launching a boat or you leave it in four-wheel-drive overnight outside, don’t expect it to come out very easily ! In my opinion, they should go back to the manual system, it works much better. Never had a problem with the older trucks.

So bittersweet to watch this, reminds me so much of getting to go on a tour of the GM plant and watch my dad at work building Tahoe/Suburban and Yukon/Yukon Denali trucks, I still remember the ‘body drop’ and the frame flip. The only thing missing is the andon system music and new car smell. The plant looks very similar to Janesville Assembly Plant too, lots of overhead chain lines and floor tracks, too bad that is all gone now! 😢 I wonder if Flint Assembly has a bumpy test track and the rain booth like Janesville had.

My '18 GMC Denali HD Duramax (2500) was made there, also got the red (Red Quartz). Been a great truck. Awesome to see the production line and imagine my own truck being built in 2018 just like yours. I have a 36' 5th wheel, you'll have zero problems pulling it (I'm sure you already know that). Enjoy the truck. I love mine today as much as the day I drove it home. Too bad you couldn't drive it home from there. Hope they don't drag their ass shipping it to you!

Aside from having the opportunity to see your truck literally being built before you i like the overall package you chose based on the exterior. The color, trim, wheels, tires, etc. It looks simple but nice. Nice and clean looking. Solid choice. Hope everything works out for ya.
