True Tan is not on the same level, not as a Biblical scholar. But Tan makes valid "common man" points even if he has to shout to be heard, and he is getting more attention than Bob. If Josephus accepted the resurrection as fact he'd have been a Christian historian rather than a Jewish one lol. And if he had been a Christian his testimony would have also been discounted and rejected by this atheist just as the New Testament is. The reason Josephus is so valuable to us is because he's a non Christian who wrote about Jesus being a historical figure and confirming that he was crucified.

Also people say you can't use the "New Testament" but they misunderstand the New Testament is a Historical Narrative of Christs Life. It's not some Mythological creature as some suppose .

Larry, I'm also an Atheist, the problem with common sense is that it is not reliable as a method for finding factual or reliable evidence, logic and critical thinking are the best standard we have. And I disagree with FRANK TUREK and KENT HOVIND about creation of time and space. So, I have written a different book about creation and evolution and about the fulfillment of many Bible prophecies. And I reject ALL WHATEVER MUHAMMAD SAID ABOUT Jesus or previous people because Muhammad was born almost 600 years AFTER JESUS. So, there is no chance that Muhammad can know ANYTHING ABOUT JESUS or previous people. Some Muslims say that Muhammad MIRACULOUSLY know what happened to Jesus. If somebody can give that kind of stupid nonsense reason, then I can also say that I was standing omy balcony with my coffee cup and MIRACULOUSLY a cow came flying and gave milk to my coffee. And sugarcane MIRACULOUSLY came to sky and gave sugar to my coffee.

First, the atheist said there is no evidence for Jesus. Later he agreed that Jesus was crucified. Much later into the debate the atheist opined that the apostles brainwashed themselves on a lie. However, the atheist could not establish the Apostles' motive for spreading the lie. Apostles should have gained from the lie. However, the Apostles paid with their lives for preaching. Even at the pain of death the Apostles did not retract their teaching. If it was a lie the Apostles were spreading they should have retracted their teachings just to save their lives. But they did not do that. He says Jesus was an illiterate peasant. Jesus read out from the book of Isaiah in a synagogue. That negates his claim that Jesus was illiterate. This atheist frequently uses circular logic.

Bob nailed it because his example, how do you show evidence your mother loves you, is a perfect illustration of how without an absolute truth there no way to present objective evidence. That's truly the one thing I find really compelling about Christianity, is the fact that these men were so devout, so powerful was their belief that they were willing to give up their lives. That takes some serious conviction. And not just one but near all of them, they would not capitulate, when it would be so easy to turn away to save themselves. Despite this guy not really being able to understand the arguments on the fly like that, I think he'll have to do some deep thinking to justify his philosophy, I don't think he can simply double down on the erroneous or weak claims that he'd made, surely after reviewing the video and processing it.

That's one argument I have heard that does not sway me very much. I've seen plenty of Islamic suicide bombers totally willing to give up their lives in defense of something I think is totally false. The idea that they were willing to give up their lives in defense of their beliefs is a testament to their faith as you mentioned.

Bob poses an interesting thought experiment. Do people die for something they believe is not true. An example occurred to me. In the Movie I think "angels with dirty faces" is the name. James Cagney is a gangster who went through school with a man who is now a priest.In 1923, two youths, Rocky Sullivan (Frankie Burke) and Jerry Connolly (William Tracy), attempt to rob a railroad car carrying fountain pens. Jerry escapes from the police, while Rocky is caught and sentenced to reform school. thirteen years later, Rocky is arrested for armed robbery. His lawyer and co-conspirator, Jim Frazier (Humphrey Bogart), asks him to take the blame and, in exchange, he will give Rocky the stolen $100,000 on the day he is released. Rocky agrees and is sentenced to three years in prison. NOTE so far he was willing to be punished for crimes others either did or shared with him. Rocky gets caught up in racketeering in reform school, Jerry decides to become a priest. Years later, Rocky is released from prison and returns to Hell's Kitchen, where Jerry works with at-risk children. Rocky tries to resume his life of crime but also has huge influence over the children. eventually Rocky gets his money but overhears a plot to kill Jerry so ends up killing the would be assassins. He is sentenced to the electric chair. Nopt alone does he die for a lie but actually makes up a lie to humiliate himself and his "tough guy" memory in order to save others from a possible bad life. the important thing here though is both the priest and Rocky believed they were serving a "higher power" . why would any atheist do what Rocky did?

He is right about an agruement from silence. If you knew a man that had carpenter skills and he came to your home as a friend to plan a vacation to go fishing and sailing in the tropics with you but while there you had bad door and loose step on the basement stairs . Just because he left your house and didn't fix those items ....doesn't mean that the silence for you not mentioning he skills doesn't negate him being a Carpenter. If he was a plumber and didn't fix the bad faucet you had and he just made the vacation plans and left.....you could tell a friend about what happend but the friend can't use the Silence of not fixing the Tap to deny he was a plumber .

Another fine scholar and historian is Dr Gary Habermas. His minimal fact theory of the Resurrection is superlative. In fact, Dr Habermas uses only what the critical scholars accept as reliable evidence and uses this as his criteria to demonstrate the Resurrection of Jesus was an historical event.

It's very telling that this ex-muslim accepts the Resurrection as a lie which he learned from the Quran no matter how many tales of the witnesses to that event......but while this person was in islam he blindly accepted the tale of Muhammad meeting an angel in a cave that spoke to him and handed down the quran while there was event 1 neutral witness to confirm it. It looks like islam made him an atheist but he got burned by the lies in islam and doesn't trust any faith bases following in a higher power. I'm waiting for just 1 atheist to give an example of an Atheist Nation with no crime, 100% employment and no Court System to Sue people for Civil Torts because they are all of high Morals and don't cheat or harm people. Note how all of the top Atheists live in Christian based Western Nations and won't go live in a Communist Country like Cuba or N.Korea. They use their free speech to bash the very nation they live in which they allege is oppressive.

Yet, I recall to mind a rather good retort that Ravi Zacharias gave to a student who asked him why does there need be a Moral Law Giver or Moral Law of any kind, when morality should merely be relatively based by the individual? Dr Zacharias replied 'Do you lock your doors at night?' You see, atheism in and of itself does not rely on sound evidence. It is the negative belief in darkness without light, and errors without truth. It is a system of disbelieving and then believing it. When one assumes atheism they assume nothing answers everything. A vicious circle, indeed....

Bob mentions the Psalm but omits ( probably because of time) some other links to the crusifiction. 1. The start of that Psalm @35 mins "my God my God why have you forsaken me" are woirds spoken from the cross by Jesus. Muslims in fact use this to claim Jesus was not God when in fact they are words made by Jesus referring to a fulfillment of a Prophesy about himself! Jesus actually quotes this psalm from the cross! 2. Bob does not go on to read the next few verses of the Psalm where it mentions them taking his clothes by casting lots for them. this is also something that is described in the crusifiction narriative. this point was brought up to deal with the ex muslim atheist's ignorance of the Old testament and how Jesus/ the Messiah is mentioned in it frequently. In fact the entire Old Testament is about events leading up to the coming Messiah.
