Honestly I was at my dentist for the first time in a good while and she asked if I had done any whitening. She told me her story of whitening and how it just made her teeth feel really bad. Almost like sharp pains. I felt bad for her just by how she described it. I had used home remedies but stopped since I just didn't think it was good for me.

Olivia Douglas I’ve had it done. It’s so incredibly painful. Your teeth/gums are literally “popping” it feels like little zaps.. and that feeling lasts for a a day or so after! For reference, I have a high pain tolerance.. but I could only get to level 2 and a little of 3.

I would advise you look into some alternatives that your dentist offers! This procedure for what it's worth LASTS but it is just THAT painful I honestly wish I would have taken a better look into other options. It feels like someone is playing with the nerve in your tooth. It's indescribable honestly! Worse than a tooth ache and it's your entire mouth. However, if you do choose to go through with it. Take 2-3 Ibuprofen 5 min before procedure. You will seriously need them.

Littletree16 your gum should be protected and not exposed to the whitening material. It shouldn’t hurt your gum. Your teeth will hurt in the first 2 days but i think it’s worth it. I am a newly graduate dentist and I’ll have my teeth whitened in the next 2 weeks ! So I’ll have better judgment about the pain it causes .

Leena A Understood. However, I myself my sister and mom got the procedure on the same day and we all had the same pain. I’ll take my experience over your research. You’ll have to see for yourself once you actually do have it done but it’s very uncomfortable afterwards. You’ll be able to determine that on your own. We’re all different pain wise. Also, I mentioned moreso tooth pain over gums.... But you could consider the gums as well. Your gums won’t hurt as bad but the teeth will have a “popping zap” feel that won’t go away for a few days. Good luck.

No one saying about pain. I did zoom whitening 3 month ago and it was very painful, I couldn’t keep my mouth open because of pain as teeth started to be very sensitive even for air! It was so for two days. And I can’t say that my teeth are normally sensitive for cold and warm staff or something. But I still remember this pain that goes in your head and you can’t do something with it. My doctor said before the treatment that I might feel only discomfort and short shoots... no one saying about pain

As a person who is wanting to become a dentist it is understandable why people want to have white teeth. It is a sign of good health. When teeth look discolored it is seen as a sign of problem with ones health. Teeth are what many people first see and what can help someone be memorable whether good or bad. It may help pave the way for someone to nail and an interview for say a company that cares about their appearance say a clothing company or modeling. Just saying teeth do more than their function it’s also important about their appearance. For me when I had gum surgery to help my teeth show more since to much gum was covering my teeth I became more confident in myself.

You try to be pretty and all that but your teeth aren’t” as a result she ruined my confidence and I have really bad social anxiety, when someone tells me to smile I keep my mouth shut; my teeth are naturally a bit yellow but they’re really white when I use this whitening toothpaste. Because of her I brush my teeth with 3 types of toothpaste, I swish coconut oil in my mouth for 20 minutes everyday and I floss twice before I brush. But she’s never satisfied

@@Journeylivin White teeth is not always a sign of good health. Dental hygienist here. I've seen patients with what appears to be beautiful smiles (bright white teeth). However, the have tons of buildup (calculus and plaque) under and above the gums. They may even have moderate to severe gingivitis, but most likely have periodontitis (depends on the case). Decay is not the only battle fought in dentistry.

Bleaching does affect the enamel and does make it brittle . And the effect lasts for about a year or two and you got to undergo the procedure again. People please don't get carried away by looks, the pale yellow colour of the teeth is it's natural colour . Ps: I am a dentist😉

The weird thing is I actually did this for a few months of light treatment just going to a clinic every week a few years ago. Had terrible dental hygiene back then and rarely brushed so my teeth actually didn't get any better. Is Zoom different from what is usually used? I had teeth whitening two years ago and it did absolutely nothing. Full disclosure - I'm older and my enamel is worn, but then again my dentist made the decision to do the treatment. My next option would be to get veneers at $2000 per tooth, and they apparently only last around 10 years. Do the math. No freakin' way. So fine, I have yellow teeth. I'm not going to Costa Rica and I'm not getting dentures as some friends have. If we're now working towards accepting differences in others, I think that my teeth will eventually be en vogue. Ha!

Zoom is by Phillips. Boost supposedly has stronger results, but it is very very painful. Like you'll sweat from the pain. I would stick with Zoom. In the right hands it can be just as effective. Zoom also has longer lasting results according to some studies. Boost might whiten more initially, but the results are much more temporary than Zoom.

I have had zoom whitening once every 3 years, starting in 1999 when I was in highschool. It works wonderfully. In between, I do maintenance with dentist made trays and Opalescence 10% gel used while I sleep nightly for about a week of every month.

Look into some different alternatives. For how much it costs, it lasts.. HOWEVER, it was incredibly painful and I wish I would have explored cheaper just as permanent options. They use a light that activates whatever they put on the teeth so it literally "pops". That heat and "pop" doesn't go away for DAYS after! It's not a surgical procedure so they don't prescribe you pain meds. Good luck! Congrats on getting your braces off soon.

This is not for you if you have sensitive gums. It actually lightened and receded my gum line slightly on my bottom front teeth. I couldn't eat solid food for a couple days, because of the sensitivity. The results only lasted a couple years and faded. So it's something you need to get done every few years.

I had Zoom Whitening 3 yrs ago and I only realized now that the reason why my teeth become much more sensitive was because of this. Because around that time I also had tooth restoration and I blamed it for my extreme sensitivity that drinking ice water was torture and that even air is painful! I’m okay now but it took 2 yrs for the sensivity to subside and I used Sensodyne ever since. Big help. The procedure itself wasn’t painful for me, just felt weird or uncomfy. But I would do it again since I liked the results. I’m also okay then as long I stay away from cold food/drinks.

Dont do it. Your teeth will be INCREDIBLY sensitive after! Like a popping sensation. I got it done and the amount of pain was insane. I only reached level 2 and a little of 3. I would say look into alternative options before getting the ZOOM light.

I really want to do this but idk if I can handle the sensitivity after it, I was so dead with the whitening strips already and my teeth were literally really healthy and tough at first. After the strips they were sensitive to the slightest wind, like something hitting on them when the wind went by and I opened my mouth, holy cow. Never again strips.

I think veneers would be helpful or braces to straighten them FIRST then whiten. I know this cause I have crooked teeth and I'm going through that process

I did this procedure, and no one told me about the pain that comes after. It was unbearable. I went directly to the emergency room screaming in pain. It also cause an allergic reaction. At times I still get shooting pains in my teeth out of nowhere. It hurts like a mother.

Wow they look amazing . But the problem is my teeth will get brown immediately after drinking coffee. But I cannot stop drinking coffee so I will have brown teeth the rest of my life.
