OM f***ing god. His solos are phenomenal. Feels like 1971 listening to duane Allman
@Zach-h2l5 жыл бұрын
Man I was just thinking I wish that around 6 mins or 6:10 I wanted them to, like John's called it before, "go all Allman on it" and have a two part, harmonizing guitar solo for a few bars with the other guy who played that sweet solo (edit: oh yes, now I remember his name is Isiah Sharkey). That would've been awesome, although yeah, the way they did it, great solos all around.

Let’s settle down, just a bit. John is very very good. The amount of sheer time Duane had was very limited. Duane is still revered as one of the all time greats to this Day. He was 25 in 71’.

Aaron is the drummer on the record. His feel is different than Steve's and is more suitable for this kind of tune.
@TheGoat-oy1xc5 жыл бұрын
@@jacobmoloyrmt8217 spoke to Steve when he was doing a masterclass a few weeks ago, reason he couldn't make this tour is because he is focusing on the new verbs album he was originally meant to do the tour that's why pino is there, aaron hates touring so john probably threw a shit load of money at him. I do miss J.J Johnson though he is johns best main band drummer imo
@JohnLaco4 жыл бұрын
I love the vibe Aaron Sterling brings to the band. He's my favourite of John's drummers. Obviously, if there's a trio set, I want none other than SJ behind the kit. But nowadays with all of the folksy songs John does, Aaron is a much better fit. Aaron has a phenomenal "producer's ear" and really knows to listen and play to what the song needs. He can carry the energy through "Belief" and "Vultures" but he can also do the quiet brush-y, soundscapey stuff. In those situations Aaron outshines Steve 100%. Aaron is probably the most recorded drummer of the 2010's. So I learn to trust his judgement.

I wish that John would realize that moving away and then a second later back to the microphone - shaking a guitar trying to emulate a " vibrato " note and constantly giving " a nod " to the left are simply not necessary or attractive things that a musician of his caliber should be doing. He finally stopped the " bounce " antic - why not these other antics John ? YOU DON'T NEED THEM IN YOUR SHOW. Just be you and keep writing / performing legendary music John. THAT is enough !

@@mobobb3555 it's wrong because you say it ? He's not the only person who does it ,in fact he mentions how shaking it adds a bit of difference while playing the intro of sdidbr. I don't perform on stage so i don't understand what nod you're talking about,but what's wrong with the bounce antic ?
@mobobb35552 жыл бұрын
@@tanayasharma7776 So.... If I play a tuba or a banjo and I shake them I will get a " vibrato " sound from them ? You haven't performed on stage and don't know from that perspective what appears to be " professional " when doing so. Any more I will say that if this is the trend I don't know either ( it's been a while ). I can say that these " antics " do not seem to cause John any noticeable distraction based upon his instrumental / vocal performance. Then again - he is John Mayer.
