I love how Red is trying to be poetic and wordy about how much Andy means to him and by the end he just simply admits in the most sincere and honest way "I guess I just miss my friend"

The writers didn't want to get too carried away by make him sound like a poet or too smart. So they simplicity was the key. It's a theme throughout most of his monologues. They were simple yet compelling. I guess it made it easier for viewers of most intellects to connect with this brilliant story.

I dunno. It is something to be remembered by others. But it's also something to just have your own experiences in life to look back on. I've done things that I'm proud of that probably nobody else will ever care about, but I do. And I'm ok with that.

I'm sorry for your loss. Lost a close friend too 5 months ago in a motorcycle accident as well, two days after his 38th birthday. He was the glue to our circle of friends for 14 years. I just came here to come to senses with this clip and it didn't disappointed me whatsoever. His family's last wish was to donate his organs. In some way he still lives. 109 recipients got their second chance to live. That last line just hits me on a whole different way. RIP Victor Anzar (1984-2022).

Those of us who watched them most talk about them most often. I swear the stuff they pulled. Sometimes it makes me sad, though, The best being gone. I have to remind myself that some birds are just to rare. Their feathers are just to bright for the rest of us and when they fly away the part that knows it was a sin to criticize there works does rejoice, but still the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone. I guess I just miss the times of the best and brightest of films creatively
@Gab98Spyro

@@briangallacher6475 How can you write something like that a few months after The Irishman, Paraiste, 1917, Jojo Rabbit, Marriage Story etc.? You picked the worst possible time for this ''everything was better back in the day'' nonsense. It's just your nostalgia speaking, there are plenty of amazing movies nowadays. It just doesn't seem like that because you're actually living right now, and not just looking back a few decades later. If I say 1994, you probably don't associate it with the Flintstones movie, Richie Rich and freaking Street Fighter. You associate it with the movies that became classics. Trust me, 30 years from now nobody will talk about Spider-Man: Homecoming or Hellboy, when they hear 2019.

It is about escape. Andy plotted from day 1 a backup plan to leave with that hammer and later on the poster. He tried to play his cards and bargain his escape through different actions hence the services he does in prison but it all backfired even after he had witness that he wasn't guilty. But the movie is also about how a friendship can grow out of harsh and unjust circumstances and how two people can impact eachother lives in a meaningful way

@@jogman262 They were all wrong about Andy. The guys who mistook his aloofness and cautionness for arrogance, the judge who mistook his stotic and shock after being convicted for being icy and remorseless. The warden and Hadley thought they had Andy beat after Tommy's death and would never dare to try and escape. Even Red thought that Andy was guilty and didn't believe otherwise (despite Andy's protesting his innocence all along) until Tommy told them about Elmo Blatch. However, Red and the rest of they guys were most definitely better for having met Andy and gotten to know him under very bad circumstances. Particularly Red who learned through Andy that hope wasn't such a bad thing to have after all.

How does one get friends "from playstation"? Like, do you buy the playstation and 5 friends are included in the package? If you meet someone at school and you become friend, is that "a school friend" or a friend? If it's your friend then it doesn't matter "where he came from", a friend is a friend no matter what.

I did only 13 months in prison while awaiting trial for a misdemeanor I refused to plead guilty for, but it's a sad feeling when you're friends you make in there end up leaving before you do. I cannot imagine how sad Red felt because he truly loved Andy like a brother and was no doubt very happy for him but he would miss him very much. I imagine at least a few years passed from the time Andy escaped and the time Red got out on parole.
@BethHarmon-yh8ms
@BethHarmon-yh8ms 6 ай бұрын
I think it was no more than a year passed by before Red and Andy met up again. It was 1947 when Andy arrived at Shawshank, and when Red had his first parole hearing in the film. 10 years later in 1957, Red has another parole hearing and is rejected again. Andy escapes in 1966. So since Red usually has a parole hearing every decade, I think we can assume he has his last parole hearing in 1967, when he's finally released. I would say it was another month or two after leaving Shawshank that Red decides to take a chance and look up Andy in Mexico. Now depending on exactly when in 1966 Andy made his break from prison, I would say at the most, maybe a year and a half, again it would depend exactly how early or how late in 1966 he escaped. I'm still saying it was most likely a year when the two men were reunited.

I think everyone can relate to this scene especially. You either lose a friend because they were great until they left your life or some friends turn out to be not good and leave giving you a sense of betrayal... Either one, when you realize the love and closeness is gone, nothing hits harder... Nothing. You just want that closeness back with that friend who you entrust in or even that companion and ex-lover... You just want that loving connection you had for that person you genuinely cared about back... You wish it was that way forever but as Red said that some birds can't be caged... People can leave for good or bad reasons that hurt but it's always better to remember the good connection you had rather than the fact they're gone or even lost... Just remember that there was good in that relationship...
