I literally just finished re-watching Shawshank for the umpteenth time. Never gets old. That final receding aerial shot of Red and Andy embracing on the beach as they re-unite gets me everytime. Exceptional movie - story, acting, directing. Checks all the boxes.

Let this sink in for a quick second.... At one point in 1994, The Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction, Forrest Gump, AND Jurassic Park (still playing from the year before) were *ALL* in the movie theater at the *SAME* time. Legends like that will NEVER be together in theaters at the same time ever again.

Amazing Film, one of my Top 3 - The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile and one from my childhood, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (The original with Gene Wilder) I have lost count of how many times I have watched each of them, but let’s just say, it’s a Lot :)

The music in the background is called "Brooks Was Here". I think Brooks was the most tragic of all the characters in Shawshank. A friendly, gentle man who liked to read and was kind to animals. Thrown into prison as a kid....thrown out into a hostile world as an old man with no help. Ends up hanging himself.

This is my favorite movie, and I’ve seen it so many times people would think I’m mad. My friends even make jokes about it from time to time, and I too, am literally in tears right now. The nestalgia, the time that has passed, the feeling of mortality. Truly one of the greatest pictures ever made, and for once I’m glad Tom Hanks turned down a roll. Tim Robbins IS Andy

Many performers are almost insulted if you ask them to reprise a role momentarily in an interview. Morgan Freeman was not only a good sport but he almost gives you chills reading that little parody. What a true pro.

Not all of them are better but Graham easily has the best talk show and format in both countries. By having the guests on together it creates a more relaxed, chatty atmosphere for the guests. He's also willing to go a bit more 'left field' than others with questions and the atmosphere helps get a great answer.

He's absolutely right about audience "word of mouth". The same thing happened to The Princess Bride, which was another movie that originally flopped in theatres because of poor marketing, but when it went to video, rentals soared as folks took it home to watch it and then told others, "you should see this movie I just watched!", which is exactly how I first saw it; at the home of friends who'd rented it, loved it and wanted to share it with me. This movie, along with Shawshank, is permanently laminated in my Top Ten Movies Of All Time.

I really wish Morgan Freeman got recognition for Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. His portrayal of Azeem was absolutely amazing and is one of my favorite movies growing up as a child. Regardless of Kevin Costner's lack of accent I don't see how anyone can dislike it.

It's an incredibly campy movie (hence Alan Rickman's amazing performance) but Morgan Freeman played it fairly straight and still managed to bring across a gravitas. That's quite an achievement and definitely worth an award.
