Just downloaded and tried it out. Worked great. A few lines that had to be cleaned up but that just took a few seconds. Interesting that I had a few lines visible in the vertical but none in the horizontal.

I'm wondering if there's a workaround to prevent the generations from getting messed up. Would it perhaps be possible to generate the whole thing in one go first to get an overall idea of what the picture is going to look like and then use your technique to sharpen those blurry areas? 🤔 but either way, great job, Unmesh! We tried that, but if the surrounding is unsharp the generated area will be unsharp too. If you find a workaround, let us know.

​@@Pictureinstruments-PI Hm yeah makes sense. The main issue with Firefly is that it doesn't understand your prompts. It interprets all inputs as requests for generating new content, so you can't directly make it sharpen things. If it were possible tho, it might still be overridden by the logic of the AI. For example, if you have a blurry area and want the AI to unblur a specific part of it, Firefly might try to create a smooth transition, which looks more natural since such harsh transitions between sharp and unsharp areas aren't natural without a change in the depth of field. Alternatively, it might refuse to sharpen anything at all if it doesn't see a logical reason to do so as is at the moment. It will just generate some incohesive stuff if you type in "sharpen" or "unblur". Funnily enough, it will even tell you "unblur" isn't a commonly recognized language and not do anything altogether lmao. But then again, if it could understand prompts like "sharpen", there'd be a potential workaround. You could generate the entire image first, then select the first 1000x1000px square, temporarily remove the rest of the generation, and merge that selected square with the original image. Then, you could let the AI sharpen that specific part. Repeat this process for all other areas. This way, you'd trick Firefly's logic component because there are no nearby distractions that could prevent it from sharpening as you want. Hopefully, Adobe will improve this in the future or just give us higher-resolution generations right away lol. I hope I made sense XD

this is a nice idea... BUT it wont work in a world where adobe is about to start CHARGING US PER GENERATION... if I have to do 25 generations to expand a SINGLE IMAGE... then even with adobes most expensive 'all apps' plan where i get 1000 credits a month, I'll only be able to expand 40 images A MONTH! i understand adobe has to pay for this feature.... but they need to change the pricing so I can fully generate a single image for 1 CREDIT.... dont make me waste 25 credits, or more, on a single image. cmon bruh. 😓

I love the auto resolution while photoshop generative fill is still unlimited. but cannot image when they gonna make us pay for credits, it will kill this app. adobe needs to get rid of that credit system it's unfair to us poor people that are already paying too much for adobe CC all apps...

There is one thing I don't understand. The native resolution of Generative Fill is at 1024 x 1024 px. So that is the max. quality. Why do you say that the '500px-button' will provide better quality than the '1000px-button' ? Both resolutions don't go beyond the native Adobe resolution of 1024 px and therefore will deliver the exact same (=max.) quality currently available. Right?

Your wrong credits count now in some regions. I thought credits come in November, my photography plan pops up YOU ARE OUT OF CREDITS they will refresh next month or you can buy more credits starting at 7 dollars for 100 credits to continue, also thought it was meant to still work but slower when out of credits, Adobe reply was November is the completed roll out date, and as for continuing at a slower speed they where not sure but said that the premium accounts ONLY but could not be certain that even they would continue.

On large generative fill areas that degrade the farther away from the original image the fills are created, why not do one “strip”, then flatten and repeat as necessary. Would that keep the quality high as opposed to cartoonish?

Hey Unmesh, my students had generative fill working for them in beta until they updated Photoshop to 2024 and started using it, now about 1/3 of my students see the error "this feature is not available" when trying to use generative fill. Any idea why this is happening?

Installation process is flawed. To install, you must register an account with My Picture Instruments, but registration is buggy and prone to failure. Result is that this plugin will not work in Photoshop.
