yes, heatpumps arent a suggestion, they exist for a reason, pipes move heat passively but its too slow to actually keep things cool, they MUST be pumped towords the radiators

Mr Foxynotail. If your nuclear power plant is going into meltdown, you do not add the rest of your nuclear fuel stock. Your first priority is to evacuate. Now since this is minecraft, you can respawn. You should have kept some nuclear fuel for your second attempt as well.

The long heat pipe absolutely murdered your heat transfer rates, and tying all of your reactors into one heat line was extremely risky. Its not impossible to make it how you wanted, but splitting the heat from each reactor into an isolated heat pipe is probably your best bet

create new age reactors are extremely easy to mess up. if the heat pipe is too long, or connected to too many reactors at the same time it will just feed the heat back into the reactors. each reactor needs its own independant heat pipe after a certian size. else it will, 100% of the time, melt down. from experience with the mod. for refrence ive tried hundreds of times and the longest one survived was 20 minutes beofre it melted down. every one ultimately still melted down after a bit. and what i mean by too long is ive had heat pipes turn into lava despite them being actively attatched to the boiler things. each heat pipe is only rated for a max of 512 heat tratsfer per tick. the reactor heat vent is rated to generate up to 10k heat per tick per reactor rod. you need a lot more heat uses for it than you put in. like a lot more. each rod is rated itself to gen up to 10k heat meaning a 5 layer reactor isnt generating 10k, its actually generating up to 50k. for 4 steam engines you only need a total of 4 reactor rods max. or 4 1 layer reactors.

Each Reactor Rod generates 600 heat per second, and each Boiler Heater consumes a maximum of 500 heat per second. The rods also reduce their heat generation when they go above some overheat temperature. It takes a lot to melt the rods themselves. The best tip I have is to avoid using stretches of heat pipes and making sure everything is in one chunk.
@XiaoYueMao
@XiaoYueMao Ай бұрын
its why you use heat pumps. they move heat faster than the pipes can do it passively

I've never had issues with meltdowns honestly, my nuclear plant has been running for nearly 200 days. I have 4 separate reactors and they run fine just on one max steam engine. You just need to spam pumps and that takes care of it

Me realizing that him breaking the center-most heat pipe disconnected three reactors from the rest of the ventilation system, causing the meltdown. "Oh sweet mother of reactor 4, Foxy no." The main thing to take from this is that before you turn on anything, triple check ALL of your connections before you switch the machine on. Great demonstration of what not to do with a nuclear reactor. And let's be fair. How many of us expected and wanted a meltdown to happen. That's what we all came to watch.

The problem is that your steam engines are just too far, it doesn't matter how many heat pipes you have if you just cause a meltdown anyway. Edit: the Corium is digging its way to bedrock btw. You'll probably find a giant hole underneath your reactors if you already hadn't while recording.

"The heat isn't moving away from the reactors." "Oh, they've turned off, let's put all our fuel in there, keep it going." "Oh no!! They've gotten too hot! How could this have possibly happened!?" For the heat transfer pipes, the heat is transferred by dividing the heat by how many neighboring heat pipes their are (that are colder than itself I think, but I could be wrong), and distributing the temperature evenly between itself, and its neighbors. So your long tube of heat pipe needs waaay more heat pumps if you want it to work like that.

as soon as the core started overheating you should have shut it down. maybe have an emergency shutoff function next time?

Unfortunately there aren't shutoff functions, the reactor continues to consume the fuel that's inside the rods. Only way to turn it off is let it burn the rest of the nuclear fuel

By the way, for a bit of real world fun: The least dangerous reactor is always the one that is off, as it is usually far away from fuel, power to use the fuel, and is usually covered in so much red tape to prevent meltdowns that you’d swear it was a Christmas advertisement. Also the “Core instead of Rod” thing is probably due to the rod being in the core of the Core :3

Personally, my suggestion for the reactors is to have a bunch of pistons with slime blocks under the reactor rods, set to constantly be going up and down, so if the reactors do melt down again, the reciprocating slime blocks will keep the falling coreium block entities from completely melting through the world. Probably.
@kisameplays1624
@kisameplays1624 Ай бұрын
So, the reason your underground belt system was putting 1 item and then 15, is because the chutes were depositing the remainder of the stack onto the belt directly. You could fix that by either shortening the belt so it isn't under the chutes, or by putting an inventory right under the chutes and then the funnel.
