Unpopular opinion but imo SOMA is the best game made by Frictional Games. I love the Amnesia franchise and The Dark Descent is of course a classic but this one is just such more thematically well made. It scares you on a completely different level, brings up questions of what it means to be human or even being alive. To me these are both much more interesting as well as scary themes than the ones used in the Amnesia games. I still love The Dark Descent and it’s sequels, but this one, it just blew my mind when I first saw it. Of course, it also depends if people are into the sort of themes, so I get if some are not as into this game or don’t even like it at all.

Their are some better mechanics in Amnesia-SOMA is fairly lite on mechanics in general-and yet, it’s still my favourite, and a masterpiece in its own right.

In my opinion you should watch Soma: Transmission before playing this it kinda shows you how things got to this state in the first place and is genuinely disturbing as well.
