What a sad and disturbing story. Im sure things like this really used to happen. That's what makes this story so real. I mean, one family owning the whole town isn't fair. I wonder how many small towns were like this. There were 3 victims in this story. Yes, the sheriff did the wrong thing, but he was trying to do the right thing, but his hands were tied. They were gonna make him pay anyway, but at least he was able to make them drop the death penalty. The poor girl never gave up on her love. I wish op could have come back just a little sooner so he could talk to his friend and let him know he's not mad. 😢
