Cole, Coop, DC. in fact everyone. Here's a little trick I started using several years ago. Carry a roll of orange surveyors tape around with you. Whenever you see a problem and can't deal with it immediately; tie a couple of feet of the tape at or near the point of issue (i.e. that sharp protruding angle iron). Leave a foot or more of the tape flapping in the wind. now, when you see it, it is a constant reminder to fix that "dang thang". don't remove the tape until it is fixed. . keep a roll in every tractor, combine, truck, pocket. Also works with tire destroyers sticking out of the ground.

I've been watching another farmer on KZbin building a new set of grain bins and their pouring concrete around the bins so if they have a spill it's easier to clean up the concrete than dirt and rocks.

Looking good you should get a back up generator for your bin set up so if the power goes out you can still use the bins and heaters or just get on for the main heated shop I have one at my home and it’s a life saver trust me it’s amazing
@joefudd3 жыл бұрын
At least get one that they can attach to a tractor's PTO as a backup (good ole Winco). If I lived way out there in the middle of nowhere where one can easily get snowed in or lose power to ice storms, I'd definitely have one or two. They might already have one? I have 4 portable generators just in case, even have wiring ran to my natural gas furnace to power it after we had a bad ice storm here knock down a lot of power lines which took over 2 weeks to fix. Not going to catch me off guard again after that! Now I've bought several Buddy small propane heaters and have 8 propane tanks for backup just in case.

Daddy CS - I didn't do a complete inspection, but pex is sooooo easy. One thing : at 4:58 a right angle near your knee should be done with a 90 degree fitting - it can be bent as you have it but I would use a 'bend support' however those don't fit in a 2x4, so the 90 deg fitting is best.
@riab60213 жыл бұрын
Do they need to have an inspector from the city or town for the plumbing??
@dhenschel43 жыл бұрын
@@riab6021 This isn't a code issue, this has to do with quality of install. If you don't use a 90 fitting the pex will rub against the wall and you will hear noise when the water is run. My city had me put a pex to threaded converter in the wall so a copper nipple was coming out of the wall. But some people don't mind having the pex coming out of the wall so that's fine, just need to make sure it is supported correctly.
@riab60213 жыл бұрын
@@dhenschel4 I thought new builds have to get mechanical inspections done before closing up walls. At least in NYS and MA you have to get inspections done on new builds or remodels.
@dhenschel43 жыл бұрын
@@riab6021 Yes new builds with permit have to have an inspection. But the issue I bring up here is not part of the code so it is up to the contractor to decide how this is to be done. I don't believe having pex come into the living space is particularly nice, so I chose to have the converter/nipple design as I described above. Some people don't mind exposed pex so that is good for them. Either way the pex shouldn't be rubbing against the under stress as it will cause noise, which is what I originally wrote about.

DC got Nave good on the flat tire! LOL! She's so cute! Things are looking good, Cole! That sharp angle iron/dagger on the railing has got to go alright! Good ole battery powered angle grinder and some good rustproofing touch up paint for galvanized steel will do it (wonder why the fabricators left that on the structure even when they galvanized it?). One rule we have at work (I know, you're at home and you're the boss), if we see any contractor working in any area on plant wearing a hard hat, we're required to wear one ourselves in those areas. It might be a good idea and they are cheap to buy (you already had adequate eye protection on). You can put a Cole the Cornstar sticker and an American flag sticker on it and blend right in! Good to see so much progress on the site this past week! Hope they get it done in time for the rest of the harvest!

You say running the dryer is expensive, but I saw where they done a test and harvested corn early with 20% plus moisture and ended up with alot more bushels by harvesting early and drying it verses a side by side comparison letting a equal amount of corn dry down to 15 % before harvesting.
