Now that you know firsthand how many hours it takes, the price tag of the original should make more sense. I think everyone should try making things and then they won't complain so much about prices of handmade things, because they will understand the labor that goes into it.

@alexasunshine834 жыл бұрын
Aww thanks !! I’m curious what knitting with needles would be like though!
@lestranged4 жыл бұрын
@@alexasunshine83 It's the same concept, but a little faster actually and easier to get all your stitches a consistent size. For big thick yarn like this you'd use big thick needles (like as thick as a lipstick tube or thicker) so it goes quickly. It's also easier to take breaks, leave a project half-done, because the needles keep the finished part from unraveling.

Cutting it is a big no no except for separating tied off ends from the skein. That's where the trouble with the front sides being uneven came in. Noting how many rows you used lets you replicate the process so that they're even. Also you will have less issues with the ends and unraveling if you weave them into the part you've already made rather than cutting them. Just advice from a friendly neighborhood crocheter.

I am a crocheter and I admire when people who don't knit or crochet a lot decide to tackle a project. Love that you went for it and also love your descriptor of "loose noodle". Hehe I love your effort, and it came out suuuper cute. I got into crocheting a few years ago, and took a long break, maybe I will start back up again and make something like this! I loooove that exact same feeling when you finish something that you made yourself from scratch. Tip: instead of cutting it to shorten it, just unravel it from one end (just how you did when you started over with the first piece) until the row before the length you desire, and then finish it off with that end row. That way you can salvage the yarn for another block and avoid the headache of the loose loops. And bonus satisfaction from the unraveling haha!
@beatricewongchalermthan5654 жыл бұрын
OH, another bonus tip for those going to try this: wash the yarn before using it so that it is pre-shrunk.

Knitting is part of my culture, like everyone i know and their mothers know how to hand knit. once you find a good quality yarn, magic happens. one thing i know about yarns, is that they 'expand' . Meaning, assume you want your piece to be smth between a small and a medium sized cardi, make it more like an xs to s. They get longer and strechier after just one wear ❤️
