Theese D shaped robot vacuums are really cool. They are also great hard workers, BUT...

Have you tested Kobold VR200 or VR300? They seem to go for at quite high prices, even though they are already quite old. Its the company that owns Neato, and they seem like improved versions of Neatos.

VR100 is a beast, it’s vacuum motor is way better than D7’s. The thing is that VR100 is slightly modified, normal XVs don’t have sidebrushes and it works with Lithium ion batteries, XVs can’t power with VR100 batteries. VR200 is very different. The software is the same tho, I think they haven’t updated the navigation system for more than 13 years.

Well i finally got a VR300 and its a really nice machine. It has the one function i always wanted on from a Neato.. it has a bump sensor on the lidar cover. So it no longer gets stuck if it cant find under something. Its also lower than D85 and fit under stuff that D85 did not fit under. Overall seems like a really high quality device. I had a Deebot 930 between D85 and this.. and it was absolute trash. Also has extra ultrasonic sensors on the bumper so it does not go around bumping into things but slows down and does not collide.

3:13 The motherboards were the most prone to failing in my experience. In my cases, a capacitor would fail making the screen just straight up white. Nothing would come on the screen adjusting contrast did nothing either. I’ve had I think 3 boards do that to me? Very annoying problem. I really don’t use the XV series anymore because their battery life is too short, for some reason I can’t get the navigation to work right, sometimes it just says “clear my path” in a room with nothing in front of around it. Plus they are very old and unreliable, and parts are becoming harder to find.

Sad to hear that. I think, that XVs are the coolest looking neatos ever. But unfortunately, they are unreliable. :/
