First of all, the clown could possibly be the jester outfit Mimic wears in Tales. Notice the eyes are the same color as Mimic from Ruin so it’s possible that was the Mimic in the box. I will say that the Mimic has never been seen in a box or anything like that before. Maybe this is where the jester costume originated from or something. Also the 1979 date is extremely important for many reasons. Not only is this game the earliest in the series preceding FNAF 4, it’s also when Fredbear’s opened in the novel trilogy. Also the date is also important for timeline issues concerning when the Mimic was actually created. The two stories where Mimic is involved (The Storyteller & The Mimic), There is a big discrepancy with the age of Edwin Murray, the creator of the Mimic. It seems they are finally fixing that which is very nice. Secondly, Brian Freyermuth, the design director at Steel Wool, quoted the trailer saying, “The evil that men do lives after them; The good is oft interred with their bones.” which is a quote from Julius Ceaser by Shakespeare. This quote could be referring to Edwin who created the Mimic who continued to kill long after Edwin was killed. That’s just speculation but still an interesting quote. Addendum: I just now realized that the next two mainline games (Into The Pit and Secret of the Mimic) are based on book characters. That can’t be a coincidence with the endless debates on the books canonicity. Scott is trying to prove Frights and Tales are canon but explaining it in game form

That doesn't really look like a jester mask to me, its probably a different costume And yes these two games have the potential I believe to prove/disprove whether FF and Tales are canon

I believe that The Mimic was the original Puppet I think this because when The Puppet reveals itself it has the orange eyes that The Mimic has and the colour of eyes in this franchise matter
