I HATE coding too. I've already been two years into my cs degree, and the upcoming year I have to apply internships, reach out to professors for research opportunity in a field like ai/ml, and keep doing coding stuff. This summer, since I didn't land an internship, I have to do work at home, which I really don't like doing. It's so boring, even getting the opportunity to work with other ppl would have been interesting, cuz u get actual interactions. But, i'm doing this by myself and am really looking for something more exciting I am passionate about doing than staring at a computer screen all day.

me too, I hope that one day I can break this stupid cycle by investing. I worked for 2 and a half years, and I invested most of my money. I earn almost 3 salaries per year from state bonds and I really hope that if I keep up one day I will earn enough from that to retire early, like in my 30s 40s. A man can dream.

Coding is fun when you are a master over your own project. I need coding, because I create projects, such as apps in Google Play, or a machine learning application that reads manuscripts. Coding sucks when collegues are 'improving' my code, which for me is the same as spoiling. I worked a couple of years with other coders, and I found that I'm not that type of coder. I'm not interested in the 'coding as poetry' kind of thing. Refactoring is a nightmare. As long as I'm the only coder and I make working applications that I like, I love coding.

I admire and respect anyone who does the amazing hard work of coding, whether for pay or for unpaid work. I especially admire and respect anyone who hates their job a billion times more than anyone who loves their job. I believe that in the entire world there should be exactly 2 pay categories: those who hate their jobs vs those who love their jobs. Those who hate their jobs should get paid at least TEN times as much as those who love their jobs. I worked incredibly hard from nursery school through math PhD, and in Fortran (summer of 1981 at a community college) and in 2 semesters of C++ (summer, fall 2005 at the same community college). I did well in Fortran and C++ in formal classroom. And I enjoyed coding for classwork. But, outside the formal structured classroom, my coding skills got worse and worse and I have hated coding more and more. I began self-learning Python in January 2015, got a little bit good at it, and liked it a bit, but have progressively hated it more and more and gotten worse at it ever since. I am a (PhD, Masters) mathematician, I love learning and doing math, I love both creative mathematical modeling of the world and creative math applied to math, and also non-creative number-crunching for applications. But, I hate programming and am not ashamed to admit it. It does not help that I have a close family member who is the world's greatest computer programmer (by his admission), and also the world's most arrogant computer programmer (with a great deal of justification: I know his programs will ALWAYS work), who keeps trying to pressure and force ME to learn and do programming. Great deal of tension + stress. He just cannot accept/take the "hint" (i.e. explicit cursing from me) that I hate programming and will never get a job as a programmer.

I started "coding" in like 2007 when I was 12. I made the tutorial game with GameMaker and I was so proud that I literally made a program that other people could use on their computer. But coding as a job sucks.

I think most people hate the first or second thing they do because they have to deal with the suffering to realize how to find the happiness they have to try things and give it up to figure it out , you'll always be able to find a way to hate something and be unhappy

I hate coding too, I’m just doing this to get a job remote make good and live to pursue the stuff I actually love doing. I’m tired of all of these pretentious nerds telling me I need to be more passionate even though I’m dedicated to getting learning how to be a dev down and putting in 8-12 hours a day grinding.

Remote work? Hmm remeber it works both ways... What I am saying, is that becuase of internet and computers, now many many Corporations outsource jobs and work to offshore countries such as third world countries to do the job. Many Companies do that, in the past they did it to Accountants but now they do it to Software Developers too. You should check that out... So if you hate Software Developing filed that is a good sign that you should look for somehitng else that you have passion for.

You do not have to do anything in life. Rember you only live once, and you may die some day... Will you want to have a hell of a life in which each day of it you stared at a computer and grinded your soul out of you. Or you want something that makes you happy, even it makes you less money... Good luck, but remember, you do not "have to do somehing", What I am trying to say is that you can and should change your mind, if you grew out of it, and lost the passion for it.

@@limitless1692 yeah I think people should do some soul searching and really be honest with themselves. Are you truly going to be happy coding infront of a computer screen for 8-10 hrs a day, 6 days a week for the rest of your life? To me that sounds depressing as hell.

Guys it is totally fine to code for money, but remember the idea that coding is the thing that makes you rich and that you just need to work hard and be good and get yourself a good job is not a realistic idea, any job on a big company on any intellectual area would give you a good money, coding is for people that likes to be on the computer for hours and solve abstraction problems, i would recomend to explore other areas that also gives money. If you maybe find something you like you have a high chance of being very good and therefore a high chance of being well paid ; ) And also most people don't need to earn more than 10k / month to be very happy 🤩🤩
