I have been in the skilled trades for over 50 years, i started out as a wrench turner in my dads garage and became a skilled machinist after 4 years in a trade school , i worked in a machine shop with many mechanics who had been technicians and bailed out of it . I retired and have taken up a new respect for what mechanics go thru just with the various cars and their systems. Working on numerous vehicles in the last 5 years and watching the troubles finding good parts and good shop management. I guess where i am going with this is if you don’t work together in your place of business and in your field of expertise you will all loose in the long game. Good subject to bring up! Much respect from a novice tech that used to be one of my dads right hand workers.

I hate watching videos where the KZbinr rips apart the machinist, or engine builder and says oh look at the shoddy work they did, not ever hearing the whole story. You’re only as good as your last job in my industry, that’s why I’m leaving after 30 years to go work for a defense contractor. I get it, there’s not enough people to do the work and most of them aren’t making enough for what they do, let alone when their health is a problem, good talk.

@@xozindustries7451 you’re right there’s definitely not enough compensation in the skilled trades we still have the stress of the job plus we still struggle financially

Wow. That sounds like a conversation I've had a few times with my father. It takes a big big man to put that out.
