1. Your final mask is beautiful. I wanted to see your approach to organizing and attaching the feathers especially. 2. Your vulnerability and discussion about your negative inner voice reminds me of Mr. Rogers and his very intentional and kind choice to expose those insecurities in his show to open healthy dialogues for children. Thank you for doing something similar for sewists and artisans.

Corn you have outdone yourself! This mask looks magical. I too used to not enjoy dressing up as I considered it silly but I have come to appreciate that sometimes we need to be silly. Its a human trait not enough people take advantage of; to laugh at ourselves perhaps or just give in to whimsy. After all there is still that child buried under all the layers of adulthood. I do hope you enjoy yourself at whatever Halloween festivities you go to!

Whoa...that mask is AMAZING! And I really appreciated seeing your inspirational journey and how you combined ideas to come up with the final project. Even the lights would really shine (pun intended) in their proper setting, out in the dark of night...say, on a Venetian plaza as you cavorted with fellow masquerade party goers under the stars. 🧡 Thanks so much for sharing your inner journey on this project. It is super helpful to know the rest of us are not alone in having those experiences. As for the inner voices, one perspective I have learned to take is to ask myself what that inner voice is telling me about what I'm afraid of or what else might be wrong. Often, if the voice is on the whiny or frustrated side, when I look past the thoughts I'll find that I'm tired, or hungry, or my brain is completely zapped. And if it's more on the avoidant or procrastinating side, it's usually because I'm running up against an underlying source of fear or anxiety (for me, that is usually a failure to achieve perfection or "success," an artifact left over from being a "gifted child" in an otherwise bad home situation whose only source of positive reinforcement and safety was consistently performing at a high level). In the former case, I stop and take care of the physical needs and come back the next day refreshed. In the latter, I refocus on the PROCESS and what I can learn from it or otherwise get out of the project. It also helps to just give yourself permission to play and have fun, and that be all there needs to be.

Love. That. Mask! As for the critical inner voice, I find that consciously accepting that the weird, silly, out-of-the-box-onto-the-floor-and-out-the-door ideas are a part of who I am, AND they are quite often the precursors to projects I end up really loving, makes it easier to carry on with what I'm doing. If that doesn't work, you could always channel Sarah from the Labyrinth and tell your inner denigrators, "You have no power over me!"

My inner voice usually isn't that mean about my projects, just my failings as a person. With projects, if it's not working or my dreams exceed my abilities, I've given myself permission to put the project in the corner while I think about what it's done. I also have a rule that before starting any new project I have to do a mending project, darn 1D6 socks and complete or at least seriously revisit something in the UnFinished Objects box, so eventually things do get finished, often to my satisfaction. But when things aren't as good as I'd hoped, I remind myself that they're still better than if I'd never tried, and that I learned more making mistakes and trying to fix them than I would if I'd somehow gotten it right the first time. That said, I think your mask looks wonderful. Very creative, and I especially like how you got the feathers in place.

Incredible! re inner chatter: for me, it depends on the cause which then results in a number of different actions on my part. If it's because of something said to me, or even about me, I generally just remind myself to ignore it as those words/actions hold no sway over me. If it's because I'm stuck creatively, I simply put it aside for another day. Sometimes I come back to it, sometimes not. I just don't let it be a bother because it's not worth it. If I'm not happy with the end result, I first decide if I want to try again (and I usually do) and then I sit down and write out what I'm not happy with. From there, I work out what I might try to do differently. I don't take negative internal chatter to heart and remind myself, when there's a will, there's a way. At my age though, I don't always have the will. 😂

Electroluminescent wire is awful. The driver circuitry is high voltage and makes squealing noises. The brightness... isn't. But we've all tried it. I've only seen one truly effective use, in Danny Saucedo's performance of his song "Amazing" at Melodiestivalen (it's here on KZbin). Very professional, but each dancer was wearing 14 kilos of batteries, and that was only enough battery for about 5 minutes of performance. LED strips are safer. Also much brighter and cheaper now.

I had to roll back to watch, have been suffering through the first heatwave of summer🤔🤔🤔the only issue with that statement is, officially it’s not summer for another 4 weeks😳🤷🏽‍♀️🙈yep the heat made me fall asleep but I heard everything so hearing one thing, and my sleeping mind filling in the blanks yep had to watch to remove the edited version from my mind with your version of reality 🤣😂glad that I had rolled back the video. The mask is stunning and would fit right in with the Masquerade balls held in Venice every year. That inner voice, I’m sure it was created to stop us from having fun, I have never been able to out bid mine, if not for my Dad, I swear he has a sixth sense to when I’m fighting with my inner voice and I’m losing the battle. He just walks past telling me “nope not today, you can go take a hike” 🤣😂 for creative people that inner voice can be stifling, because of Dad I have been able to go head to head with mine at times and win. Right now the frogs outside my window are singing and dancing in the rain 😂it’s fun and very distracting especially after a week long heatwave. That has helped me to refocus on what is really important to me. Sometimes life just gets away from us, so having something so silly and frivolous presented to us helps to brake up the conversation going on in one’s head space
