I got rather drunk 1 night in Thailand and woke up in a shop door way. Most of my money had been taken along with my telephone. I decided to check out of my room the next day get my deposit back and head home 4 days early. I arrived at Bangkok with about 3500 baht and needed to pay over 7000 to change my flight so I decided to live in the airport for the remainder of the holiday. The first night wasn't easy but after telling a young Thai lady my sob story she bought me some food and drink also a security guard who she knew did the same thing when she had gone home. The next morning she arrived at work with breakfast for me and told me that I could return to her room when she finished her shift. That night I spent on the floor of her bedroom. The next to days I spent at her sisters house and his boyfriend and his mate all 4 of them made me welcome made me food and bought me beer. Still to this day I don't know why they took me in. But they did and they will always in my heart and mind.

+James Wallam Keep in mind that, honestly, it could have been tourists who took your money. And, it is wise not to get too drunk in Thailand, as in any country that you may visit, or live, there are always those who will take advantage of someone who is in that state.

I can say that I went to Thailand on a vacation for a month and when I got home I sold everything and moved there, the culture is different but that doesn't make it bad as for the laws they are the laws of the country and you just have to respect that. Now don't get me wrong there are some bad people in Thailand but there are bad people everywhere but for the most part Thailand has been the greatest experience in my life and I am thankful to be able to live here.

i am an exchange student here in Thailand and i will stay here for only 10 months. Two months are already passed, at first it was a bit hard, i had homesick and i really didn't understand this people and their culture. But now i am fall in love every day with this place, this people, mai pen rai is already my favorite world. In this video you give a real description about how thai people are, they really help everyone and they are always smiling (not because they are happy, just because they think that a smile always help). After two weeks i was here, my host sister asked me if i would like to go home alone, i said yes and i was really excited about this ( it was the really first time that i could walk alone in the street). My host family's house is 40 minutes away from school, for go home I had to take two different bus in two different place, and it still is a bit hard. i lost myself 3 time in less that15 minutes that day, after that 10 different student that didn't speak english very well tried to help me as possible as they could, they talked with a taxi driver, and they also gave me a lift to the taxi station ( in the tai style, 3 people on a motorcycle without the helmet 55555). they helped me oven if they didn't know me, i will always be thankful to them and all my thai friend that help me everyday at school. Thailand is a great country with great people.

I just came back from Thailand couple of days ago and seeing this video brought me tears. Although may have been scripted as an advert, this is how I exactly feel when I'm in Thailand. I visit Thailand every year and I feel exactly what this video portrays. I just want to my stay to last a day longer each passing day. I love the culture, language, food, my friends, and this country I call "The Land of Smiles" because it brings nothing but smiles every time I visit this beautiful country. Thank you Thailand!
it's my 4th year in thailand now, living with my lovely thai wife and family, hope you FARANG understand that thailand is not only prostitution (that you really wanted it to be), as i live in a small city northeast of the country (Kalasin) i became so famous here and welcomed by everybody in this city, loving thailand is not just making a short clip describing people, it is how to educate the youth, give for the poor and of course treat WOMEN as good as they really are, i love thailand and i will live here forever.
...I've been to Thailand around 6 or 7 times, great people, i left my fat wallet in a launderette by accident, i left it on top of the washing machine, many Thai's were there waiting for their clothes to finish washing, i suddenly realized that i left my wallet after around 10 minutes, i ran back to the launderette, and thinking on the way, "It's gone." to my surprise, it was still their on top of the washing machine in plain view! I was shocked, did anyone notice it was there? To this day, I'm still misidentified to why no one took it. Must be that even though a lot of Thai people are poor, they put their dignity first. Thumbs up for Thia people, i know one thing, if in the UK, (I'm from the UK) it would have gone long ago! Not saying all UK citizens are thieves, but i have lived there half my life and know UK people, most will have stole it. I have to say one word of warning about your stuff being stolen in Thailand, the Ladyboys pick-pocket, i had this done to me a couple of times, but i had a zip pocket, they found this trouble for them, and gave up. P.S, I didn't go off to have a good time with them, they just came up to me in the street to chat me, but really to pick-pocket, be very careful of them, they're real professional at it!

silversurfers7 disagree with you on UK people... I've been all around the world and also spent half my time in the UK. Like anywhere ... there are many difficult types of people in each country, both good and bad and in between! I find real UK people the most trustworthy, honest and law abiding there is. London isn't really UK as already the natives are outnumbered by 60% and growing.. I love Thailand aswell, each place has its merits but flexibility and open mind is key. Peace and love to all.

The people in Thailand are really impressive. When I arrived there on vacation it all felt so incredibly foreign. I was a bit frightened to be honest. The script, the language, the greeting... So, so different from Europe. I had read a lot about the culture before I went there, but I still had the fear of doing anything wrong. This turned out to be no problem at all. The people are very understanding, helpful even if we were probably constantly making a fool of ourselves 😂 So nice. Everywhere we went relaxed, helpful people. Absolutely amazing. One of the countries I will definitely come back to. Still so much to see and discover. Much love from 🇪🇺

This can be true or false. It depends.. I am Thai i want to warn you about my country. 1. Never trust taxis that park and waiting for tourists in the visiting places ( I dont know how to screen if they are good or bad sorry) 2. It is normal that some shitty places like in Pattaya , Phuket and Bangkok where many ppl from around the world are visiting, you have to be careful and take care of yourself for sure. Not even the tourists but Thais as well. It is easy to be deceived by someone who is making money on you. 3. I would say rural areas are the safest place where good folks still exist :) 4. Even scams or bad things happen to you, you would always find a good-hearted ppl as in this commercial vid for sure but of coz you have to get the right person, you have brain... You know what i mean. 5. Bad and good ppl are everywhere in this world, be cautious and careful. .... PS. If you dont want to be cheated..... Stay home lol and don't put yourself in that bad situation.

I've heard about a foreigner got his body messed up from heat stroke after taking a jog in Chiang Mai. After he recovered, he said that he's so greatful for the Thais that came to donate blood for him despite not knowing him at all. Thais donate blood on regular basis for benefits and out of good will, but this time, after the locals know that he's almost dying from the kidney failure, people came to donate blood just for him.

Yeah, maybe it's true that we have our bad and negative side, but we all do, don't we? There's no way that there's a country out there that's perfect. Please be open minded.. there are a lot more to experience in our country. We're not all bad you know? This might be a make up situation story, but it's possible right? who knows? He has his experiences here in Thailand... don't say that what he have experienced is fake and not true :( It's possible....

ni rinz Translate* This cute girl said, Everywhere there is always good and bad people. As the same as Thailand. This clip reflects the deep real habits of most Thai people. Thank that you have met a good one, good things, and have a good feeling to Thai people.
I have been living in Thailand for four years now, soon to be five years. I am studying in Pattaya. I can honestly say that living in Thailand has changed my life. Of course it can be dangerous, the roads are extremely dangerous, also, of course there are bad people - just like in any other country - but I will never regret my time in Thailand. It doesn't matter if you speak Thai or not, they welcome you, be nice to them like you should be to anyone. Most of the Thai people would help if you need it without anything in return. The sad thing is that you would die of hunger in any country but not in Thailand, here if you have no food and no money, they will feed you, no matter how rich or poor they are. I love Thailand.

I am so tired of people complaining about Pattaya or Phuket is not quite a safe place. Of course, it's not as safe as other destination like Similan or etc. But if you choose to visit risky areas like night clubs, or illegal sex trade stuffs which are not hard to find in Pattaya, it is certainly much more risky and you could put yourself in trouble easily, even Thai people generally don't visit those areas. BTW, just take care of yourself and avoid risky situation.

My best experience? My bike radiator leaked on the way to krabi from hua hin on 2010 new years day. With no shops open, Sazali Ahmad approached a group of guys happily drinking beer for help. Not only they call their friend to open his car workshop but only not to have the parts to repair the leak. Another guy called his friend who just arrived from bangkok and he came down and helped to fix the leak. He called another guy to buy some epoxy repair kit which was at a 7eleven a few km away. All the trouble took him 3 hours to stop the leak and when i ask how much i need to pay. They said no need, "You come my country you problem we help you happy happy". I swear to god i was on the verge of tears! So i asked Maesai Top to push a few hundred baht to them to buy more beer for themselves which they finally accepted #Longwaynorth

I lived in Thailand for 8 years had to return to the UK because of health issues it was and still is one of the hardest things I had to do, will be back there in 5 days
I see that a lot of people who dislike Thailand are those that visit Pattaya or Phuket as party tourists. It's very telling that this video starts out at what looks like the Full Moon party. Those people don't know Thailand at all! Any place in the world that is built on hostess bars and gogo clubs will draw the most undesirable elements from all over the country, and the world. Look at Angeles City in the Philippines. Or Olongapo back in the US Navy days. They do not represent the Philippines any more than Pattaya or Phuket represent the Kingdom. My first visit to Thailand was in 1986, and I've been back many times. I don't speak more than a few words of Thai, and I find the Thai people to be friendly and helpful. If I approach someone on the street, in Pattaya, there is a moment when they look at me with distrust, or they see me as nothing more than an opportunity to make some money. Why shouldn't they? It's Pattaya! So many Thais have had terrible experiences with foreigners in Pattaya you have to expect some distrust. But once I smile and greet them nicely they warm up quickly and are eager to help. I find this attitude at all levels of Thai society, from bar girls to bankers. You have to understand the context to understand the people. Go to Isaan and people are open and friendly from the start. Go to the bar area in Phuket and people aren't so open and warm. Give them a chance to know you, and earn their respect, and they warm right up. I'm planning my retirement in Thailand, and can't wait until I wake up on that first day, knowing I'll be there for the rest of my life. I'm not sure where I'll end up living, but I can tell you this - it won't be Pattaya :)

Lets talk about the scene, where this 'tourist' throws a stone at a passing taxi! Two points: to Thais this is to illustrate , and underscore what kind of disrespectful, and violent the young white tourists are.. We, foreignets, throw stones at Thai people!! Should anything like this happen in real life in Thailand, that farang would have been killed on spot, or at the very least, beaten half dead, lucky if picked up by ambulance, to be taken to hospital. Simple fare dispute with taxi can get you sent to hospital in Thailand! Every expat here is aware of this. Point two: This clip shows how Thai cares, and respect a broke, pennyless foreigner! This clip is laughable, if it wasn't so embarrassingly, hilariously misleading. Reality - after the 60 day visa is overstayed, farang is handcuffed, and off to immigration detention center, awaiting deportation. But after the stunt he pulled, by throwing a rock at the Thai taxi driver, on a deserted road at night, this foreigner wouldn't be alive, its that simple! Also, yelling at the Thai polics officer would have ended VERY badly for that foreigner.

I believe you were taking those scenes are context. He threw the rock and yelled at the officer to show how aggravated and pissed he was, this is not real life but an short film (more like an add) so it shouldn't be taken so seriously. In the end he meets some cool people and he gets an even better experience than he originally hoped for. He went there for a vacation but found better things like friendship and possibly love. Dont take things to serious this is not a documentary.

yeah I "hate" Thailand too. In July 2015 That was the first time i have come to Thailand and the first time i fly. So i was tired for flying so long and then I have a cold too. So when the flight took off, i took a bus to the hotel. terrible thing happened. The bus is very crowded. I was very tired and no seats for me. So I was vomiting and apparently fainted. But the people on the bus was taking care of me, they gave me a tissue, gave me the seat, before they get off they looked back at me. I was really touched. So i promise that I will come back that awesome place...

I love Thailand, lived in Thailand for fifteen years, like any country you have the great, good and bad. It's my home and it always will be, and I'm a woman. I never felt safer, more cared for and witness such kindness in all my life. I will be home soon ( Thailand ) just completing a 2 year contract in Panama Hell. I'm also an Australian, and I would never want to return to that heartless country. Propaganda or not, It is what you make of it, and if you truly take the time to learn about the culture, and learn a little of the language you can make more informed decisions. The magic of Thailand is that you are always surprised by it's people, it's beauty, and it's ability to put life into perspective. Help is everywhere, and the quality is what you make of it. Difference is the key, and we should endeavor to understand that sometimes cultures misunderstand each other which can cause negativity. I miss you so much Thailand, I dream of you, I will be with you again very soon. With Love Megan Eastlake
