Truly this is the most difficult part of colour analysis to me. Hopefully this conversation may help you if you are a colour analysis client going through this scenario or an aspiring colour analysis professional trying to navigate the emotions attached to client colour analysis results. The conversation in this post is truly just a brain dump of my thoughts as I have expanded to prepare more and more for these types of conversations. 💕🎨⭐️ #carolbrailey #colouranalysis #coloranalysis #sparkle #undertone #naturalbeauty #authenticity #colouranalysistok #coloranalysistok #personalcoloranalysis #personalcolouranalysis #colorseasons #colourseasons

This is my OPINION, and ONLY my opinion. I’ve been watching your videos for a long time, as well as entertaining other channels that cover color analysis. I got so stuck, at first, with the eye color videos. But I came to realize that color analysis is the SUM TOTAL of EVERYTHING natural to a particular person! Sometimes you have to trust the process, and in the end, Carol has never INSISTED any client wear colors they don’t like. She has ALWAYS said “wear what you want.” At the end of the day, that’s what each individual should do. When you pay for a professional service, you get the deep dive of a person who is educated, trained, and experienced in personal color analysis. Carol has made it her life’s work. She’s an ARTIST, but at the end of the day, she’s been paid for her opinion backed by education and experience. She’s ALWAYS said “wear what you like, and what you feel best in!” I don’t understand ALL of it, but it’s SO INTERESTING, so I’m going to keep watching-and I’m going to keep learning. (Again, only my OPINION.)

I totally agree! I feel like Carol is getting bullied for telling people the truth about their color analysis results and that's just so wrong for so many reasons! People literally can't handle the truth. I was soooo surprised to find that I'm a Bright Winter, but I certainly didn't get upset about it. I got excited about learning how the right colors could make me look alive and feel great, and boost my confidence. I don't waste money on makeup or clothing that won't get worn because it didn't look right on me. I can confidently walk into a store and buy a lipstick and know that it's going to work for me. That's a great feeling. I love being a Bright Winter and knowing my very best colors! I don't understand why people are having color analysis and then having meltdowns when they don't turn out to be the season they wanted to be! And I certainly don't understand why they're getting upset with Carol. I think she does an incredible job and her clients look great in their own individual seasons! She never tells anyone that they have to wear certain colors or that they can't wear others. You're paying for a professional color analysis. At the very least, give your own best colors a chance! I love Carol's videos, and I think she's an amazing color analyst. I just hate that she's being hurt by angry people who didn't like their color analysis results. To those people, I say, go right on wearing whatever you want to wear, but to those of us who are now wearing our best colors every day, I say, good for us! Enjoy being the season you are and rock your best colors every day! Love to everyone and especially to Carol!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I'm into this topic and I follow every youtuber who has CA content. I must admit that I love before and after photoes here on this chanel, they are the best proof of expertise. Other channels often show CA mostly on girls who had already known their best colours either instinctively or had CA in the past. But here we see real women like us just getting real help, I like it very much.

Carol, you do not need to keep explaining yourself! You have years of training and experience and bazillions of happy clients. If you don’t already, include a disclaimer of sorts. “ Before you engage my services, remember this is not about what colors you personally prefer, but about which colors suit your coloring. Take a minute to think about how you will process your results. Look over the seasonal pallets and identify how you will receive each, and if there are any you will not be able to accept, reconsider signing up.” Something like that… And then go forward. Maybe even use one of these videos as required viewing before people sign up. And then… it’s all about them. Also, I suggest anyone who hates their colors go to a thrift store and pick up a couple cheap items from their pallet. Try the colors out (not necessarily the clothes!). I think most people will come around once they see what the colors do for them.

🥰🥰🥰 this all is in place in our terms and conditions that people accept when signing up and are reminded of when sent results but this keeps coming up with clients so I post these reminder videos… thank u for ur lovely comment! People tend to think that these videos or thoughts do not apply to them or they will not feel this way when signing up then receive results and it hits them like a tonne of bricks (said with love and respectfully) 💕🎨⭐️

One thing I did before getting analyzed was watch many videos about every palette. I eventually fell in love with every single palette after seeing them on people so when I got mine done with you I was just excited with no fear of which result I'd be given. I thought i hated the summer palette until I saw it on summer people and then WOW. Mind changed. When I turned out to be a warm spring i was thrilled because it's one of my favorites but honestly I would have been thrilled with any of them now. I actually want to buy all of the color strips and put them on my wall because they are all so pretty lol. It also helped when I stopped thinking about it as finding colors I shouldn't wear, and started thinking about it as just finding my best colors. The fact you've always made it about finding which colors make you "sparkle" has made it such a positive experience.

This video was very well done. I understand what you're saying completely. I was absolutely shocked when I got the bright winter result. I almost never wear bright color most of my life because of my introvered personality and want not wanting to draw attention to myself. But I saw what the palette did to my skin. And my eyes literally glowed. I want to wear color that repeats that in my daily life. But there are so many colors to choose from... how could anyone say they don't like any of their colors? I don't have to wear fuschia. Black is a good color for me even though it's not one of my absolute best colors. I have navy, I have grey etc. Still I'm having more fun shopping for clothing than I ever have in my life because I know what to look for and I hardly have to wear any make up now. My best colors make it look like I'm wearing foundation! Having the correct lipstick shade is everything. I'm getting more compliments than I ever have. I've even moved into wearing those bright colors realizing that they compliment me in a good way, And if I get more attention than so be it. At least it's because I look healthy and not sick like I did when I was wearing my worst colors.

I was shocked to find I was a dark autumn, after many years of thinking my pale ivory skin and dark hair indicated some sort of winter. However, I took to the colours when I could see how they lit me up. However, with age these colours started to look wrong on me, creating deep shadows, my eyes had also gone from deep olive to bright green. A second consultant (the previous one had retired) told me I was now bright spring and to dye my hair even darker than it was before I had any grey!? I doubted this advice, the bright, bright colours overwhelmed my skintone, the colours looked vibrant, but I looked ill. It wasn't until I found another consultant that I discovered that I had moved to warm autumn, which made sense as soon as I started to wear the colours. They just needed to be slightly warmer and less dark than before. The point I am trying to make - I actually loved the bright spring colours, but they did not love me and I personally have always been attracted to colour analysis because of trying to be the best version of myself.

I mean, you’re a genius color analyst. I’m 💯 % sure you are right with 💯 % of your clients. If someone’s unhappy with their color palette it’s like saying they are unhappy with having limbs. It’s just a fact. You can’t be unhappy with facts. :P

I believe I'm cool. Can't afford to do a formal analysis sadly. I hate most cool colors. My fav palette is the Soft Autumn. I'd be so disappointed if I got official word I'm some form of Summer even though I do think I am.

Having to disappoint people's expectations is such a difficult prospect and you seem very empathic. On top of what others have stated, I think part of you must accept that you have this in your nature (and empathy has great points as well!) and it will always be upsetting for you to see someone disappointed with their color palette. It's a lovely part of you (along with the pom poms! 🥰) Clearly you know your work and see immediatley what others don't see in the checkpoints. It's not a philosophical or moral debate - it's color science. Like physics, there's really no arguing it; just pouting and eventually choosing (or not choosing) to wear the colors they bring out their inner goddes! 😘

The title of your video caught my eye because I thought I hated my seasonal colors. I'm a cool summer with ash blonde hair and I love the bold and deep winter colors with black as my neutral. I thought the bright colors were flattering. I thought the wimpy, washed out grey colors were so boring they depressed me. Then when I picked up a shirt I resisted the urge to go for the bright cobalt and thought I'd try a light blue/grey one instead. Imagine my surprise when I discovered how bright and clear my complexion looked and my eyes sparkled. I'm a believer now . I had to see it for myself. I have a new found appreciation for my color palette.

I feel for you carol, I just had a professional colour analysis after years of trying to figure it out on my own, I spent so much time and energy trying to figure out my correct season, i thought i was a bright spring i convinced myself I definitely was and i ended up being analyzed as a true spring, i wasn't upset about it but i was terrified that i was a cool season and just couldn't see it because I have been coloring my hair golden blonde for over 20 years and wouldn't want to believe i looked silly all that time! So I can understand why some people can be upset they got it wrong for so long but its definitely not your fault they got it wrong, its very easy to do, i have friends who think they are a different season to what i think they really are and are wearing the wrong colors, i wouldn't tell everyone the truth or i will probably become an enemy and not a friend anymore 😂

As a therapist, my suggestion is to journal about what those colors mean to you… Unpacking associations with colors is not the work of a moment, even if there is no trauma associated with it. Sometimes it’s simply societal programming. If you have constantly heard about poop brown or Pepto Bismol pink then you might have to do some exposure therapy & exploration to reframe your ideas. Raised by a woman whose mother dressed her in autumnal colors, she was highly averse to warm tones… even in the seventies! That rubbed off on me. I was initially, inaccurately, typed as a Summer. I believe it was lack of training, this person saw blonde hair and blue eyes & BINGO, interpreted all draping from that predetermined angle. Years later, my hair had become redder and I was curious so I got a much more experienced person to drape me. Spring suits me in every way and I love my colors. However, it can be tough in certain situations where it is not very appropriate to wear bright colors and in group/team settings when trying to wear the same thing so… I still have a note of ambivalence about my type. It definitely feels like Winters rule the runway most of the time. But the older I get the more grateful I am to know those colors are not for me. I remember my color analyst telling me to picture a rich chocolate velvet, for example, which transformed my idea of that color. Searching for the elevated, sophisticated, artistic uses of the color your knee jerk is to hate,- that might be the way to go.

I agree, if someone really, really likes one palette then maybe it's worth just sticking with it. Dita von Teese is a natural blonde but upkeeps her jet black hair + red lip combo for decades and as far as I can tell it makes her happy. Is it a lot of work to keep up with the hair, makeup to match the palette she likes, sure, but seems to be more than worth it for her.

I’ve heard you say before that resistance is sometimes where you need to look a little deeper…and you were absolutely right! I’d avoided soft, warm colors, especially neutrals like beige, cream, and tan. I moved a lot as a kid, and before we moved, we would strip the house of all soul and personality and cover EVERYTHING inside and out in beige, cream, and tan. My favorite house was a beautiful yellow that got repainted tan. I HATED it. So I associated those colors with trauma and soullessness. I’d always been drawn to winter colors. I felt like they suited my personality and how I wanted to be perceived, so that’s how I built my wardrobe. For over a decade I lived in winter colors. Then I fell down the rabbit hole of color analysis, got a color analysis, and turns out I’m a soft autumn! 😱 It’s been a few weeks since my analysis, and I’ve been embracing my colors after seeing how amazing they look on me! I’m slowly opening myself up to beige, cream, and tan through small items like a purse and shoes. It’s a process. I instantly fell in love with rosewood and olive, so I’m starting with those. 😊

I think nobody can somehow change what colouring their skin undertone is. everyone is free to wear what they want, doesn’t mean they don’t have best colours that suit them which professional eye can see. And definitely the best colours create harmony when the colours that don’t suit look worse, no matter what the person likes better.

Is an ash level 7 hair color a brown or a blonde? I see it labeled as both. It’s hard to know if I am cool summer or a winter without knowing…love your videos carol!

Hi, I'm not sure if this will be helpful but I used to get my base colour dyed a level 7 (with ash undertones) and my hair dresser said it was at the darker end of the blonde spectrum. Good luck on your colour palette journey!

This isn't your fault and it isn't a problem with the system you use, but you should know that this is a topic that skirts quite closely to subjects that probably don't belong on a channel that's supposed to be body positive and encouraging. I think it can sometimes be much darker than "I just don't like the colors" and "it reminds me too much of my mother." I agreed with the result I got, but like many women, I have pathological body image issues that are further reinforced by unfortunate results relating to body and appearance: everything else about me is ugly, so of course I'm "in harmony" with ugly colors. True Autumn isn't my least favorite color palette and I have never been set on one specific color identity, but I understand why someone might be upset after having a palette they found accessible and interesting replaced by colors that sucked the joy out of the exercise for them. This is especially true if this was the one tool that really inspired them to try to feel better about themselves.
