You're right; I thought Riley's reaction to James' hug was really sweet. Cuz she's never had a boyfriend before and he's had two girlfriends at this point - Beth and Amanda - so I like that Riley was more shy and less comfortable with hugs and stuff and we also know thanks to "Song for Riley" in Season 3 that James was already in love with Riley at this point in Season 1. So yessss I really do like those acting choices that you and Trev made. ☺❤

I see it the most in Season 3, but for real, you were one of the most diverse dancers on A-Troupe; we rarely got to see the girls do hip-hop in the first four seasons and I LOVE your "I Need You Now" duet with James in S3 cuz Riley was labelled as a contemporary dancer, but you guys were SOOOO on the same level and all the emotion that you put into your solos made them my favourites on the show for real. "When the War is Over", "We Go" and "Mountains" are three of my favourite solos on the show. ❤

A fair number of scenes are censored on CBBC. Some Jiley and Ralfie kisses are cut and some Jiley kisses are shortened as well. Amanda's reaction to Noah taking his shirt off in Season 4 is also taken out, but apparently not James only wearing boxers in Season 4. 😂🤣 But not all kisses are shortened/cut, so I don't know their logic 😂😂😂

@@ellislily Actually, I think it's cuz the kisses are more PG. Most of the Jiley kisses that are shortened were quite long, esp in S2 Water It date, S4 Walk This Way date and S4 Bold As Love reunion. Since Jiley left, the kisses have been a lot more PG. 🤷

When I watch these episodes from the first season, I can't stop thinking about the big evolution that Riley had throughout the series. I mean that in the first season Riley was very structured and didn't relax. But as the series progressed, she changed completely and began to face different situations that led her to leave her comfort zone. This transformation process was good to see because we not only saw her make her own mistakes, but also learn from them; which I consider to be a good lesson that the show leaves for the audience. I liked seeing her growth through each dance she did. In conclusion, I think that Riley became a symbol of growth and maturity, and that is why I consider her to be my favorite character.❤

0:45 something similar happened but the opposite in season three where for the longest time I thought that Michelle made herself the alternate because instead of showing the scene of Kate telling her that she's the alternate, they just show Michelle going to the office and a talking heads saying something along the lines of "it was bound to be that Kate makes me alternate" so I thought she (Michelle) made the decision herself [Hopefully that makes sense and btw the scene was cut in the UK]

Loved this video. When watching this episode I saw Riley's reaction to the suggestion they not go to regionals as her being passionate rather than aggressive. I also wonder if the stakes were higher for her given she lost her relationship with her sister to put the team in the best position for regionals so to not go would mean it was all for nothing. This episode had some really cute moments with Riley and James and it was lovely to get your perspective on them, even though you are so (unneccessarily)hard on yourself! I thought the acting choices you made were right, both you and Trevor brought a lot of authenticity to these roles and this relationship. I think that is a huge reason why people still love the show and you so many years later! Off to check out the new vlog 🙂

hey brit i have a question about the show's lines being mostly improv, i think it's really cool and fascinating because i haven't heard of any other show being filmed that way. i don't know if you already talked about this, but what was the reason for filming the show this way? was it faster this way, because i imagine it would take more time for writers to write full dialogues and then for a bunch of young actors to learn their lines? anyways, love the videos and you are definitely being too harsh on your acting, everyone's acting on the show is really good considering how young you all were and the fact that improv is a skill different from acting that people take years to master. i think that your internal struggles as an actor at the time actually made so much sense with the way riley is as a character so i think it all came out pretty well. much love❤

Lots of shows do this , (not always to the same extent) they give the general outline of the characters thoughts and reactions to a situation and then the actors will just make lines up , anytime actors to improv lines their responses don’t have to be so specifically thought out before hand as their characters general personality is a big enough indicator of how they’d respond with their improv lines as these lines they make up won’t change the whole plot of a show or anything they just add to a character. Sometimes it’s because the actors have been playing their character for so long they would know more than the script writers how their character would respond it’s also way more natural that way. Also like I said previously improved lines aren’t that improtant to the plot , the script writers might just say an event occurs (for example an explosion ) and x y and z characters will respond to the event , and then x actor will individually think “my character is always dramatic “ so I’ll just respond by screaming and jumping at the explosion , then y actor may think my character is very strong and serious so they might just respond to the explosion by checking in the other two characters and ushering them to safety. Rather than the script writer specifically choosing how each character would respond beforehand. Hope that helps

Oohhhh was Trev's dance promposal to his at-the-time girlfriend the inspiration for Henry's dance promposal to Amy in Season 6? I know that Isaiah missing his prom in 2017 for the Live on Stage tour was inspiration for Henry missing his prom because of the qualifier video in Season 5 and Isaiah going to his IRL girlfriend's prom was inspiration for Amy throwing a prom for him in Season 6, but was Trevor's dance promposal inspiration for Henry's dance promposal for Amy? I agree when u say how u should have lessened ur emotions other then being so hard core but at the same time I think it fits perfectly with the episode, why I say this is because in the first scene while the team was discussing about Emily and Stephanie leaving I very much agree on how you played out that scene as it was ur sister clearly so you need to have a say, secondly in the scene where you full on went into dancing in front of the school and had no feeling of embarrassment I think it’s cus the stress of getting James back on the team made you do that and feel no other emotion other than drive as you need him to come back or else the team won’t be able to go to regionals which links back to the first scene where the team was discussing the situation and Michele was saying how the team should not go to regionals and you going all crazy. This may sound like nonsense but honestly I think you did perfect as well as the production team as things clearly link back and foreshadow
