I kinda love that you didn’t have a boyfriend before shooting the show because Riley didn’t either. It made your reactions and interactions much more natural because you were NATURALLY acting as Riley and not faking it. I think you guys both did great acting as Jiley and the natural progression of the characters’ relationship felt authentic and natural, even though we know you guys were acting ❤️

After watching the show when I was younger I still held a fond appreciation of it but since this series I think this show was much more fascinating than I first considered. The unique way it’s shot and written works really well for its format and it’s something you don’t see a lot in mockumentaries but it turns out so well. You’re performance in particular feels so authentic because of the nature of the show and the method you had to use, it’s like an even more genuine level of mumblecore like true fly on the wall stuff I think

Another amazing video to brighten my Monday 🙂 Hearing that you hadn't had a boyfriend yet when filming the start of Jiley really explains why it felt so real and authentic. I think the nerves or anxiety about acting out something you didn't have lived experience read perfectly on screen as the nerves everyone experiences when going through the start of your first relationship. It was really relatable and truly props to you for that. You always brought such authenticity to Riley, which is why she is my (and many other people's) favourite TNS character. Excited to see the vlogs back and the upcoming Q&A!

I watched TNS in the UK (CBBC) and I’m pretty sure the second part of Stephanie’s embarrassment scene where she overhears the director was cut. I’ve never seen it before (probably because it was seen as being too mean)
@joshuaharper26244 ай бұрын
Same! The bbc episodes are edited a lot, most of the kisses were removed or shortened, and the mean stuff was cut out (like when Emily completely destroys chloe in a scene, the bbc version literally only said 'you need to be in b-troupe' it was like a 3 minute rant in the original). The Netflix version was different and it confused me a lot

something that does upset me is that in the bbc version of the next step, there are a lot of missing scenes from this season that i only got to see when tns was on netflix for a while. for example the scenes this episode are with casting director talking abt how bad stephanie was after her voicemail to emily, + the emily and eldon kiss. it’s sad bc those are scenes that do add a lot more to this episode
@joshuaharper26244 ай бұрын
And the first jiley kiss, you just see Riley pull away in the bbc version
@renerm4 ай бұрын
@@joshuaharper2624 exactly, tho i understand it being cut as they hadn’t been on their date yet. but there’s still so many oddly cut moments and lines, the majority of them do really take away from the watching experience and the show/season as a whole.

TAP! Yes Britt! Tap is the BEST! My all time favourite dance style and easily my best! You should absolutely get back into it! I just decided tonight as well that when I put together a new competition troupe at my dance school in September, I’m gonna do a huge tap number, just because it’s Tap, and when done right it sounds incredible 🤩🤩 Also, question; you mentioned about how you’d never had a boyfriend when you were filming season one, what was it like filming all the scenes with Trevor, and how much did you know in advance from the directors/writers about what was coming? I know that many actors in the past have been through similar, one that springs to mind is Mayim Bialik when she filmed Blossom, she’d never had a boyfriend or kissed anyone and suddenly she had to go through all that on set. Just curious as an actor myself what the mindset is like approaching and playing those scenes. Keep up the great work with the videos, inspirational as always! 😀

Non dancer here, never danced at any level but i like the show regardless, would you consider hip hop or breakdancing as technique? Because the show always emphasised that technique is referring to ballet and contemporary, especially in the latter seasons (like s5 onwards)
@micellaragua4 ай бұрын
mockingariana3 usually mentions that hip hop does have its own kind of technique when she ranks dancers. But that’s a good question
@emilygumal46584 ай бұрын
@@jxy8938 As a dancer, I would say that the different dance genres all have different levels of technique. Ballet and contemporary have what is known as more classical technique whereas hip-hop and breakdancing are known more as "street styles". All require different techniques and have different expectations and styles. The reason ballet and contemporary tend to be called more technical dance styles is because they started in studios and typically were for the richer students because you had to pay to take classes whereas hip-hop and breakdancing started in the streets where anyone could do them. With that being said, all the styles have different techniques and requirements to label you as "good" in a certain style.
