One thing people aren't realizing is that even though Joe went off and smashed the whole table, if he hadn't done that, Chad would have had infinite colorless mana on his turn four. Somebody has to win the game. I think the lesson we all learned here today is to kill Selvala immediately.
@JenniferNE63294 жыл бұрын
Thank you KroggandMohawk for pointing that out! Especially as my first built commander deck is Gadrak and it's why I am watching this! I am not running Chad's combo, but I may at some point now! As a noob I wouldn't have known that he'd have infinite mana. I did have to Google Basalt Monolith combos because I didn't know what would create the infinite mana loop with it and how. I'm going to leave this here in the event someone else may need to know: MTG Combo: Basalt Monolith + Rings of Brighthearth Basalt MonolithRings of Brighthearth This combo generates infinite colourless mana. Have all permanents and any other source of two mana on the battlefield. Tap Basalt Monolith to generate . Spend that mana to activate Basalt Monolith 's untap ability and put it on the stack. Generate two mana from any other source to pay for Rings of Brighthearth triggered ability, copying the untap ability from Basalt Monolith , and putting that copied ability on the stack. Let one untap ability resolve, and tap Basalt Monolith to generate in response to the second untap ability. Let the second untap ability resolve and tap Basalt Monolith to generate for a total of six colourless mana floating. Repeat steps 3-6, using the mana generated by Basalt Monolith to pay for every iteration after the first.

Impressive by Joe's deck, BUT there were a number of plays that helped him get ahead that weren't exactly legal. At 6:00 mark, Joe casts Seedborn without paying double G (uses 4 off crypt and Sol Ring) and the one Savannah. He had already used all the parlay mana from his Selvala to cast Samut (3 from Lotus, 1 from Taiga, G from Selvala's parlay). He then taps Samut without paying the W to untap Selvala (I assume he meant to tap the Command Tower?). On Michael's turn at 7:27, he again taps Samut to untap Selvala (he had lands available to tap, he just skipped tapping them). On Chad's turn at 9:45 or so, he gains 4 G off two Selvala activations, but then uses one for Survival. He has enough to cast Zacama, although he was off on what he had floating and available. On Chad's turn at 17:30 or so, he taps Sol Ring and a land, which nets 2GG, but casts Regal Behemoth. Mirari's Wake doesn't double Sol Ring. Then, he taps a land for 3 mana and casts Temur Sabretooth (2GG cost).

Was it good? Or was it fun? Neither in my opinion. Honestly I'm not even that salty at crypt, lotus or sol ring. At 6:03 when Seedbornmuse is cast he taps the Sol Ring, Mana Crypt and Savannah. Did I miss him floating an extra green to cast it? He had the Command Tower but didn't tap it. Also when he activates his commander in the next step he never pays for the White pip... or did I miss it?
