Don't worry, normal service will be resumed next time in a location which is much more 'me'!. Like I said, you'll probably love Orizaba if it's your first magic town or first time in Mexico. Remember I've been doing this for 6 years and honestly if I have to film another video in a place like Orizaba I'm probably going to have a mental breakdown. JAJA

I was in Orizaba just last week and I loved it. Actually, I'm seriously thinking about moving there next year. People are friendly, there are many parks, it's not an expensive place, and it's a very clean town
@josepadilla70522 жыл бұрын
What a ride with this video, but the realness and the human side of it makes it great. Like you, I wouldn't consider Orizaba a "pueblo" magico. It's a beautiful city, but I think that the tourist aspect can be improved to keep the realness and enjoy all the city has to offer. For me a magic town would take ma back on time. Orizaba has a lot of history and great other things that a magic town requires, but it's larger than a lot of the other magic towns. The positive side of the program is about money support to preserve more the historic landmarks, and also bring more tourism. But like anywhere, when it's not your day it's not your place and even the rainbows won't be as beautiful... hahaha. Saludos and Feliz 40!🥳🥳🥳✌
@davidostrowski6792 жыл бұрын
Literally EVERYTHING you just said! Especially the point about going back in time and preservation, like Real de Catorce or Real del Monte for example. I loved Nombre de Dios and Jerez because of the relatively small size. For me, Orizaba felt just like any normal town

I am from Orizaba, there was a before and after. In 2015 Orizaba received the title of Magical Town because it is a place rich in history, culture and nature, and having been an important colonial city, it accumulated an impressive architecture that today is worth admiring. Obviously if you visit for a short time it’s not enough… it's very sad to see this video, it’s really incomplete and disappointing. Orizaba it’s not only the river, the iron palace or teleférico. orizaba has the largest number of museums in the state. Amazing food, hotel boutiques, trendy bars and excellent restaurants. The next time you should stay more time with extra money for enjoy a real trip.
@davidostrowski6792 жыл бұрын
Boutiques and trendy bars aren't my thing, I prefer dark alleyways in Obregón and cheap street food, I don't think Orizaba would ever be my kind of place unfortunately

I am not saying Orizaba is all that and a bag off chips but it isn't bad either. I think you were extremely tired and I think that soured it for you. As far as the whole Pueblo Magico thing goes is it is basically just a tourist gimmick. I mean there are 225 of them, so they can't all be amazing. You look to me like you would like the Pueblo Magicos of Morelia, you should check it out. The Purepeche story is kind of cool. Anyhow, nice video and happy Birthday.

I was there in the middle of the plandemic in early 2021 and it was a dream with no tourists around. I stayed in a hostel dorm by myself and waited for nothing. You can easily hike up the steps to the same location that the teleferico goes to and save the money. Wish I had made time to visit Cordoba and Fortin de las Flores or taken the back highway from there up to Xalapa. Actually my favorite city in Veracruz state is Xalapa. So much to do and explore there for outdoor enthusiasts.

Another enjoyable and honest video from you -- thanks. Having been to some desirable spots in the world that I flatly disliked, I know that feeling of disappointed annoyance. Anyway, I've been living in a World Heritage Site in Mexico for the last 25 years and am more than ready to make a change. Thus, your clear-eyed, sometimes refreshingly grumpy videos are a godsend for me. They're giving me a way to either quickly cross a potential town off my list or decide to research it further. Hi David! I spent the last New Year's in Cordoba (first time there). I also had the opportunity to go To Orizaba and two other Pueblos Magicos nearby, Cosometepec and Hutusco, marvelous week . All are different. I agree, Orizaba is the one more geared to tourists, that day the line for the teleferico was even longer so we did not go up either; still, once you leave the Centro you understand why it is a Pueblo Magico. If I had to live in any of those Orizaba will be my first choice EASY!. I also love Oaxaca BTW... it is all a matter of being there on a good day I guess. If you plan to come to Monterrey, right now we are in the midst of a severe drought, so it is duty and brown, if you come anyway DO NOT stay in the area where you stayed last time and the Metro is worthless to take you where you want to go, don't count on it for transportation. Look for accommodation near the Obispado hill (SW of Monterrey). I would skip it frankly (and I love my city!) not a good time to come ATM.

Just so everyone’s aware the teleférico goes to El Cerro del Borrego, which is not a dormant volcano but a large hill that was used during the invasion of Mexico in the mid 1860’s to fend off the French. El Pico De Orizaba, which is the tallest mountain on this hemisphere short of Denali is a dormant volcano, but cannot be reached by cable car.

The point of Orizaba isn't to be touristy like normal. It's about swimming in the multiple lagoons, hikes, fincas and crazy jungle stuff. It's not first world touristy. Things that don't reveal themselves unless you know some cool locals. 😎
@davidostrowski6792 жыл бұрын
What do you mean by 'first world touristy'? It's slightly insulting. I was born in the UK, you may consider it to be first world but trust me anyone is far better off in Mexico... why do you think I left the UK 6 years ago... You didn’t convince me to not go. You did convince me to keep my Veracruz trip fluid. I have that area high on my list of places to check out because of the hiking and the area. Also I heard it’s just about the cheapest place in Mexico, which is right up my alley. The tourist areas did look pretty lame, but I don’t spend much time with stuff I’m not interested in. I think maybe with a couple days you might have liked it. Most the town looks like a normal town. I remember when your Oaxaca video came out, weeks after I booked my trip and I said it will be alright he’s having a bad day. I got there and kinda hated it. I was about a 15 minutes walk from downtown for a week and went that direction twice. I walked 15 minutes in a different direction and found a different kind of town with markets and night life I enjoyed. Also the state as a whole is awesome it’s just downtown Oaxaca that sucks, even though it’s pretty on instagram

Happy Birthday Sr David!!! Also congrats for making my wife laugh out loud - especially the suspension bridge scene (and the poor deer). Despite your angst, Orizaba looks pretty - especially thanks to your beautiful drone shots! Coincidently, we saw a video by Andrii Zhulidov about Orizaba yesterday (he also has some great architecture videos). Funny thing, with the clouds and proximity to the mountains, we were saying it looks like Hope, British Columbia (buildings are totally different but the setting is similar). I am actually curious to see what a cloudy Mexican town would feel like and to learn more about the colonial route from the Atlantic to Puebla and CDMX. Anyway, I think that Sunday would be the wrong day to explore any scenic location in Mexico (you obviously know this, and I am sure Sunday was the day you could make the trip). On another note: I share your questions about Pueblo Magicos - I understand when there is historic or architectural value (like Orizaba) - but how did Sayuita made the cut?
@davidostrowski6792 жыл бұрын
Yep u just summed up Digital Nomad life - can rarely film on weekdays because of work and Córdoba was filmed on the Saturday. Sayulita? Never been there unsurprisingly lol
@Vancouver_Dan2 жыл бұрын
@@davidostrowski679 Sayulita is without a doubt the most overrated beach destination on the Pacific (and has zero historic significance). It is a short drive from Puerto Vallarta and is considered to be a surf location. It is an example of wild, unchecked development destroying whatever natural beauty was there in the past. Also, (and probably because of the development) the ocean water is disgusting, murky and most likely full of sewage. You are not a beach guy - so its not on your wish list. But I just raise it as an illustration of a pueblo not so magico.
