Hi, I'm a new subscriber from Michigan. I ride and my wife is interested, so we got her a rebel 250. I am looking at women rider channels and videos that she can follow to help with learning. I've liked and enjoyed what i have seen on your channel. I think it is choke closed for warm up. It chokes the intake, therefore drawing in less air, allowing more fuel in to the cylinder. either way, I look forward to seeing more of your videos and sharing them with my wife. Keep up the good job and ride safe!

You're right, I just googled it. I guess when I said "open" I meant to say "on". I'm still learning how all this stuff works. Thank you for the tip. 😊

Here in Texas you have to take a safety course to get your license. I took it during covid. I have a 2021 Honda Rebel 300. I love my bike. Here in Texas you can ride all year round. Ride safe.

I'm jealous you can ride all year. I have about 2 months left of this year before the snow potentially flies ❄️

Hello dont know you and just saw your vids today. I dont check my bike because Im the only person who touches it and does all the work on it. So for me that's enough. I also never did the MSF or any of that been riding since I was 5 years old. Ride on lady I'm showing my wife every female rider I can find to encourage but not push her to start riding on her own. As far as riding with your choke open for hours its not recommended but, Its alot like chain cleaning and lube. I know people who have never done any work to a chain and gotten 15k before replacing because they wanted the rusted eyesore gone. Same concept for engine protection. As a mechanic I fix things that have broken or start to break I dont worry about a machine that is running tip top. If you are experiencing issues that you can link to a Rich or Lean situation then yes your doing harm if you are not ride on :)

Hey Alicat numero uno no course they didn't exist back then😂Numero dos a flat no tyre pressures depends on how long it's been since I went out last and temps since last out 😊.Yeh the choke thing my bike does not like choke for very long so I never take of with it on I tend to give it a few mins for the oil to circulate and that's it 👍

Yes I think a daily pre-trip safety checks might be a bit much however one can never be too safe. I guess it's all on the one riding.

Hmmmm...I never have to use the choke on my Rebel 250...

Hi Stan, do you live in a warmer climate? I don't always need to choke mine. It just depends on how warm the temp is.

Ok I will bite and see where you go with this. :) And no you dont need a class if you have some off road and a mentor is good also.... When I got my license there was no such thing as a riding course. I do all my own work so I know the state of my bikes. Choke is closed for cold start, opened normally. Carbs have chokes and EFI does the same thing auto magically. Really clean Rebel 250, they are under appreciated. I just picked up its big brother a CMX-450C that is in good mechanical shape but needs cosmetic love.

In Sweden, as well as in all of the EU we have to pass a test to get a motorcycle licence. It involves everything you need to handle in real life, plus some things you son't.

I believe it is a good idea to take a course. Although it's not required where I live, I do plan on taking it. Not only will it lower my insurance cost if I do but it's I believe the more riding skills the better.Thanks for watching and leaving me a comment. 😊

Generally if you survive the first 3 months. You can ride a bike well!

Good to know 😊 Now I just have to be brave enough to try a bigger bike.

Ok so if it wants to be choked for that long then it needs more fuel. These aren't the most cold natured bikes typically but your sound worse than normal. Min has a few mods and has been retuned. If the idle mixture screw isn't adjustable for you it's possible that circuit is clogged or going up one size on the pilot jet may be beneficial. A good tuned engine will fire up with the choke on and you should be able to almost close it almost instantly. And within maybe a minute or less be off of the choke completely. Mine is old and wore out and I don't have lean startup conditions like some of my other bikes

They do tend to leak around the carb adapters.

As a long time follower, I am so excited you made the 100 sub club! Next up, 500! (which I just surpassed after 30 months) Confession 1...So as someone who did take the MSF course at the junior college, I will say that they do teach you a whole lot more than just slow speed maneuvering, a lot of which will apply to make you a better cage driver as well. I strongly recommend it!! (and you'll make new friends there as well of all different skill sets) Confession 2...yep, me too...maybe once a month. Confession 3...your bike should not take that long to warm up to get off of the choke...on a cool day, maybe a couple of minutes. Sounds like your bike could use a tune up? (new plugs, carb cleaned, etc)
@ALICATMOTO2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bob! It's exciting and congrats to you too on the 500 subs! Cheers! Yes I know the MSF course do es teach more but I'm just not sure what all it entails because I didn't take the course yet. I know it's all safety related and directed towards making better riders. I agree it's goid to have. I also agree that my bike takes too long to warm up but I do have an appointment for a tune up already made so I'll see what they can find. Happy you're still here as a sub to my channel 😊
