The gun also wasnt shot at a range prior to coming on set, it was literally being used to shoot live projectile rounds ON SET between takes which is a massive violation of protocol to even have live projectile rounds any near the set let alone ever load them in the gun used for scenes for any reason.

Ram rod isn't really safe. To use a ram rod, you'll have to put your hands in front of the barrel and if you're unlucky and the round goes off in the barrel, your hand might get shot. Of course the chance of the round actually going off while ramming it isn't that high, but there's always a chance. It's always better to be cautious when dealing with firearms.

I did this for someone at some point, they came to me with a jammed round, I just popped open my screwdriver on my multitool and manually extracted the round. It's really not hard, just don't smack the primer or use any thing with electricity. For the record, I'm not trying to get others to do this. If you're comfortable around these situations, do what you know works. If you're not, step away from the gun and get help from someone who is. We're talking about an explosive here, which has the potential to launch shards of metal in a ton of different directions, if something goes wrong, potentially hurting or even killing anyone nearby. Guns are fun, but they're still deadly tools. They need to be treated with the respect they deserve.
@DieuDeMort2 жыл бұрын
@Crazy Ohioan Cars, Guns, and Gaming Or a knife, tbh. Just about anything you can get in the chamber and under the rim will work. Again, though, my advice isn't to go try that for your first time, cause if anything goes wrong, it can go REALLY wrong. Just don't be a complete idiot, like one guy I saw comment on here, who said he just ramrodded the round out. Definitely don't do that.

His was a different type of blank. The gun was a revolver with a pulled snap cap glued in the cylinder so you could see the ammo in the cylinder when the gun was pointed directly at the camera. They then used dummy rounds to get the bang when you pull the trigger. The guy pulled the trigger and the snap cap didn’t stay glued in the cylinder to make a long story short. Take it apart and push it out with a cleaning rod from the front. Then spec the chamber, it's prolly buggared up, the ammo was. Either way, get that chamber inspected! Your firing pin could have issues, your extractor too.

You can use a barrel cleaning round, pushed down the muzzle end to push the round out of the chamber. This can push the bullet back in the case, which is bad when fired, so don't re-use the round. The paint can opener is just as viable, but not as quick, perhaps safer, if you're careful neither is that dangerous. I have paint can opener for my Springfield Armory XD/XD-M's, if you need to remove the extractor, it is the only way to get them out, and usually have to file them down a bit to fit it in the narrow space necessary.

I've seen a few of these videos using paint can openers and have tried it at the range I work at several times and it has yet to work. These situations are almost always steel case ammo getting stuck in AR style rifles. They wedge so hard that only beating them with a rod or dowel from the muzzle end works. Maybe others have had success with paint can openers, but as for me and the other RO's? Not so much. Cracking a rod into a live round isn't the most comfortable thing, but no one leaves with a live round and haven't had a problem yet. Key word "yet"

Just put a cleaning rod into the front end of the barrel and push the cartridge out of the chamber. If you're worried about putting your hand in front, push the cleaning rod against a wall (pointed in a safe direction of course). All the pressure goes to the tip of the bullet and the primer never gets touched.

It is actually a common practice called mortaring your rifle. Granted, using it on the flat range is frowned upon. It's meant almost exclusively as a last ditch effort in combat before disassembly of your weapon. Mostly because it can damage and render rifles in-operable due to possible damage of the buffer system. Can confirm it works well when done properly. Side note: This guy is kind of a joke. In my opinion.

@@greisensharrard5650 I don't see how mortaring will damage the buffer system itself, with the exception being that you could strip the threads on the buffer tube. When performing a military funeral the rifle honor guard will fire blanks during the 21 gun salute. out of the 21 rounds fired there are on average 3 misfire/no fire situations the honor guard members will go through the motions of firing. The reason for this was explained to me as~ semi auto part of the rifle requires the expanding gasses from the previous round to cock and reload itself, the blanks do not have the oomph a real round has, because their job isn't to thrust out a projectile, but to make a big banging noise, the lessened oomph jams the rifle and causes things to get stuck where they ain't sposed ta be.

This actually happens all the time, especially to new guns. You can also use a dental pick or anything the can slip under the rim like a bent paper clip. The extractor cant grip the rim but its usually not stuck in there that bad. If you can open the bolt, get the mag out, lock the bolt back, get a light and play a game of operation with that dental pick or whatever and clip it under the rim. Had it happen many times with cheap steel case ammo and was easy to get out. You can probably also shoot it out...

Point in safe position, I.e. away form your face and other. Bring the stock down on a hard surface while simultaneously pulling the charging handle. Gravity may help. Here’s the trick I learned. Take a little bit of thermite and push it on the back of the round. Then chamber a new round in and shoot it. The new round will gently push out the stuck round and the thermite will help it move. Good luck.
@dustytables3638 Жыл бұрын
Easier way: Open and lock bolt back. Stand rifle on buttstock angled a bit away and safe. Drizzle a couple drops of oil down barrel and wait a few minutes. Meanwhile set up your cleaning rod with a plastic tip on it. Place a piece of cloth over bolt face and insert end of rod with plastic tip into the muzzle a couple of inches holding with thumb and index finger tips. Drop it into barrel making sure to instantly get fingers out the way. Round will pop out into the chamber. Now field strip your AR and clean barrel and chamber thoroughly.

When working as a range safety officer at a local range I get to deal with this regularly. There are many bad extractors out there. I usually clear the area, and beat the butt of the rifle on a solid bench-holding the charging handle that is connected to the BCG. It seems to work the best instead of sticking a paint can removal tool inside the chamber area. Sometimes I just use a cleaning rod-that deals better with squib rounds, too. Will have to try it!
