Hi Becky I had a similar incident when I was down a lane in a hgv 1 delivering furniture. After 15 minutes of her trying to reverse she admitted couldn’t do it and I had to back it up for her lol😅

If i was in your shoes and came across that car. I would of got out and told her that i can't go on the grass, because i'll get stuck and i would of helped that lady reverse back into the gate way. People in cars don't understand that HGV's should not be driven on grass. I used to drive class 2, but is still the same principle

I have just retired from driving after 36 years for a living, the standard of driving has deteriorated over the years. People cannot read the road and thinks they have the right of way over a commercial vehicle even when they cannot get through. A smile and thank you used to wind women up more than men. Just tell them your being paid for sitting and waiting whilst there making an arse of themself. Occupational hazard Becky.

Similar thing happened to a mate of mine once when he was driving a bus in service round the village we both lived in once. The law at the time meant that he wasn’t allowed to reverse with passengers on board. Granted, the bus he was in was too big for the route but the smaller bus would have had the same issue. He refused to back up firstly because the law said he couldn’t, but even if this rule hadn’t existed, his only option was to reverse on to a main road. With traffic moving at 50 mph. She ((for she was a she) refused to reverse to the space a hundred metres behind her - she eventually admitted because she didn’t know how. The police were eventually called because she was causing an obstruction. Two local bobbies eventually turned up - one of whom was her husband…. Her husbands mate squirmed a bit as he wrote her up for not being fully in control of a motor vehicle. A few weeks later, she started catching the bus as they’d strangely become a one car family…
